Guest Hooli Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I think trw friction make those brands too. I read that as low friction & thought 'I don't want their brakes'. Jerzy Woking and bigfella2 2

burraston2006 Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Found these items at the back of the shed. Can not for the life of me remember what car/cars they are from. Could the AS gurus help me? The seat belt clips have 1392174 F4 on the plastic case and 5990B-AC89.1 on the metal mount. I have a feeling they my be from an old G plate 3series I used to have but I can't be certain!
320touring Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Re the seatbelt clips, they are deffo not BMW E30 ones (which is what a G reg would be) Sorry I can't say what they are off:(

rainagain Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I'm trying to find somewhere in Fife that will buy scrap car batteries, here are my results so far:SCB: we don't take them as it costs us money to get rid of themUpullit: won't take themNobles: yes we take batteries but there's a ten battery minimum (I've only got four), also won't give price on phone Anyone know of a scrappy in Fife that I can sell them to?
gm Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 You could give these guys a call ? http://westcaldermetalsltd.co.uk I had an old copper hot water cylinder to get rid of recently, while I was there I noticed that they had a pallet of car batteries in the shed. rainagain 1
robinmasters Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Can jump leads deteriorate so as to carry enough current to spark, but not enough to turn the engine over?
Talbot Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Can jump leads deteriorate so as to carry enough current to spark, but not enough to turn the engine over? Yes. A spark simply requires volts. Turning an engine over needs many amps. Jump leads are a lot cheaper than they used to be. I bought a massively beefy pair a few months back for about £24. robinmasters 1
somewhatfoolish Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Cheapoid jump leads are made of tinfoil and hairgrips; decent ones are made of welding cable and BFO spring clips capable of castrating small mammals. clayts450, robinmasters, DodgeRover and 7 others 10
FakeConcern Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Could I use breakfast cereal box cardboard for a temporary gasket between throttle body and inlet manifold? I can't get hold of the real thing until Tuesday and want to try another body on my VTS that's still giving me problems.Link http://autoshite.com/topic/29249-uninteresting-c4-vts-help-needed-to-diagnose/page-2
DodgeRover Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Yes that should be fine, grease lightly before use. FakeConcern 1
MikeR Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 its not acting as an insulator to stop heat travelling from the manifold to the TB ? , ie its about 1/4 inch thick FakeConcern 1

Lower one has gasket still on, one uppermost just bought without (most of) gasket. MikeR 1
catsinthewelder Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I believe from Mo's posts that a parcel shelf with factory speakers is plug and play into existing wiring. Ten years ago when the scrapyards were full of them this would have been easier. If it's tidy it would be worth finding one but if it's not then at least the wiring is there to bodge some 6x9s in. warren t claim Posted March 30, 2018 Author Posted March 30, 2018 The Viva button. What was the point of having to push up a button under the steering column to remove the ignition key?
Tetleysmooth Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 The Viva button. What was the point of having to push up a button under the steering column to remove the ignition key? Didn't that activate the steering lock?
Steve79 Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Having "cured" the OMGHGF on my Rover 820 with steel seal, i'm left with the inevitable coffee and cream oil fallout. I'm getting screwfix's pela 6000 ripoff tomorrow to drain the contaminated oil out. My question is that i've got about 8 litres of old but unused castrol magnetec 10/40w diesel oil which i plan just to use to flush the old stuff out as best i can, but will i do any major damage using it for about an hour in a petrol engine? I will replace it with recommended grade once flushed out.

Keeps the speakers invisible from outside the car and helps stop the shelf from sagging under the weight of the speaker magnets

sierraman Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Bubbling noise from PAS when steering is turned? Any ideas? Tried bleeding it. Still there. Steering feels fine.
Lord Sterling Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 My K11 Micra has only front speakers, how much work would be involved adding some rear ones?As Cats said, it's so easy to add rear speakers with no work at all. Look on eBay, a scrapyard or register on the Micra forum and grab yourself one of these: Grab the boot caroet finisher on the right-hand side if your boot and yoi should see a connector like this: Image from another site. And plug up to your speaker'd shelf. Viola, you have 4 speakers. However, as your Micra is an older K11 and I haven't seen rear speakers on an older K11 it may not be as easy as that. I'll do a bit more reasearch. HarmonicCheeseburger 1
Lord Sterling Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Ok, just found a 1993 Micra SLX with rear speakers which should confirm that yours can take rear speakers with no effort involved: Eddie Honda and HarmonicCheeseburger 2
Lord Sterling Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Also, as yours is the earlier Micra keep a look out for these: Dashboard add-on commonly found on JDM Micras. loserone, HarmonicCheeseburger and Eddie Honda 3
panhard65 Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 Bubbling noise from PAS when steering is turned? Any ideas? Tried bleeding it. Still there. Steering feels fine. What car is it ? Some Peugeots with electric steering need the level to be increased above the max due to cavitation. I would also check the hoses for kinks etc as I had an old Espace in the other day that my customer got cheap because after spending loads on it including a new battery the owner called time when the steering played up. It was noisey, notchy and pumping foamy fluid out of the resevoir. Turns out the numpty who fitted the new battery didn't fit it at all as it wasn't all the way in the tray due to being jammed against the chassis rail and crushng the power steering hose. A quick wiggle of the battery to drop it in place and the steering is spot on. One very happy customer !!!

3VOM Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 The Viva button. What was the point of having to push up a button under the steering column to remove the ignition key?Might be one of those cars where the engine runs on in some situations or markets. Stops drivers turning off the engine and jumping out only to find the car is in gear and runs on. Usually into something else.
