KruJoe Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Put a drop of washing up liquid on a damp cloth and give the windows a wipe over. Surfactants discourage condensation formation. I think. If that doesn't work, I believe there are products available that are designed for use inside motorcycle helmet visors.
Danblez Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Just been calling round pricing up some zintec for my new found enthusiasm for welding, but what thickess do I want for general body repairs 0.9mm or 1.2mm? I am thinking 1.2mm. Also have trouble finding a place that stocks small quantities, most have 2 by 1m sheets for 29ish +VAT which seems OK but this will probably last me 10 years. Anyone know of the best place in north liverpool?
M'coli Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Non-structural panels, use the 0.9. Structural, use 1.2 - also useful if you need to create a complex shape as there's more thickness to bash into shape!
Pillock Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Steamy Windows is almost always a sign that moisture is in the car when it shouldn't be. Some cars are more prone than others due to ventilation quality, but none should really do it as standard.Check all your carpets for dampness, if you can pull them up then do so and check any underlay or padding. The Leon is bad for it, but that's because there's 10mm of water in the back footwell (due to a blocked door drain hole and my laziness). My Scirocco did it, because the sunroof drain tube was blocked and it used to fill the gubbins tray below the drivers side of the dashboard with water. Sometimes though it's just the weather - getting in the car with a damp coat, etc. You can leave a tray of cat litter in the car for a few nights, see if it sucks up any moisture that might be trapped in the car - given the current weather, we rarely drive with windows open so if there is moisture in the air, it'll stay in the car for longer than in the summer.

I hadn't though about the thickness from a bending point of view. Cheers
CreepingJesus Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 One for the caravannists: recently, I've seen quite a few flash new caravans out and about, sporting massive covers over the front of them. Custom fitted things they are, which cover the whole front end of the 'van. What's that all about? Seems to be a recent thing, 'cos I worked for a garage which did caravan stuff years ago, and never dealt with anything like that. The odd fastidious owner who wanted their 'van tarped up over the winter, but not when travelling.
Cavcraft Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I expect it'll be to stop stone chips and suicidal insects from making a mess of the caravans.
dollywobbler Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I expect it'll be to stop stone chips and suicidal insects from making a mess of the caravans. That and keep them cleaner. As I discovered the other night with my trailer, any muck from the rear wheels of the tow car just hurls filth over the towed item!
michael t Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 hello all, just a quicky, how do i post pictures from Ebay on Google Chrome, sorry if it has already been covered.
KruJoe Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Sorry I'm on FFox. I'd like to pay for my stickers, how do I P*Pal as a gift?I did try to pay Billy that way for Chodley tickets, but couldn't find it so found myself drybummed for the 43p.Thank you please...
willswitchengage Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 hello all, just a quicky, how do i post pictures from Ebay on Google Chrome, sorry if it has already been covered. When you're looking at the ebay ad's page, right click on the image then click "inspect element". A blue line of code will be highlighted. About eight lines up will be where the image's URL is (the one ending with .JPG). Double click on that to highlght it, then copy 'n' paste to have this beautiful picture of a 405 petrol with no MOT for only £550. I'm watching this mother!
Father Ted Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg ... 067209.pdf Why the FUCK would anyone do this? Will it result in a higher recovery rate for nabbed plant? Will it bollocks like as any self respecting tea leaf will just remove the plates. Will it eventually result in some sort of off road taxation system -
willswitchengage Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 My bicycle has its frame number stamped on the bottom tube, might register it for lolz *still pretty pointless though as afaik most polices will let you register your equipment with them for free anyway
cobblers Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I can deffo see many advantages to getting the DVLA involved such as erroneous SORN fines and £60 shots for "failing to notify a change of keeper" whenever Mfanwy the work experience lad decides to drop a stack of papers on the floor or whatever
trigger Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Here's a stupid question from me, what's the lights under the bumper of this called?. are they spots or fog light?, The reason i ask is that i have one that I'm trying to list on ebay, made by Unipart and I don't know what to list it as!. The light in question.
DSdriver Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I think we came to the conclusion last week that vertical lines are fog lights, but after two pints of cider in the Bush Blackbird and Thrush and half a bottle of wine with dinner after I am not going to say definitely and can't be asked to do the research. Soz.
cort16 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Has anyone got a suggestion for a decent alternative to pre-paint? There doesn't seem to be any place to get it locally and the halfords pre-paint fannypads are SHIT and quite expensive. I guess any solvent will do but I'm not sure what to look for.
trigger Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Pre-paint?, do you mean as in panel wipe?, the thinners type stuff you use to degrease a panel before painting it?.
cort16 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 That's exactly what I mean triggleston. I've been told you can use petrol but I don't fancy that much.
trigger Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Just google panel wipe, it's not expensive, any motor factors which stock body work materials should stock it like Brown Brothers or Partco if you have one near you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trkpa ... p=15&_sc=1 and remember to buy a tack rag too, panel wipe first, tack rag wipe it next then it's ready for paint.
cort16 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I've had stuff off of ebay before but as per usual I need it for tomorrow and none of the local factors have had it in stock when I've asked previously.
M'coli Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I don't know if it's any use but there's a branch of Brown Brothers in Garscube Road.
warren t claim Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Are there any diesel vans that are both LEZ compliant and happy to run on veg oil?
messerschmitt owner Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Are there any diesel vans that are both LEZ compliant and happy to run on veg oil?yes, a pre 1973 van with a perkins engine Oh, or anything owned by the MoD.
willswitchengage Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Are there any diesel vans that are both LEZ compliant and happy to run on veg oil? Thanks to BoJo's stupid no taxis older than 15 years rule, there are a lot coming off the road that have eminox exhausts but with the old engines, if a Fairway or Metrocab is big enough for you. They can be dead expensive though.
Spiny Norman Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 From the Anti- GOM thread - in this picture.... I've often wondered, is "meme" pronounced maim, meem, may-may or what?
eddyramrod Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 No idea.... er, what is a "meme" exactly? Or even approximately?
