richardmorris Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Pressure needed will be far in excess of air lines.
D Spares & Tyres Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Having seen someone try it with an Austin landcrab, the car gets lower and the airline gets filled up with green gook!At least in that case, car pressure was higher than the workshop airline.best not try that then, I have some paintwork to do next week and that may cause fisheye probs !
Timewaster Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Really silly question. What if you jacked the car up? Would that reduce the pressure in the spheres?
320touring Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 This wheel is scrap, isn't it? Got to be wortha tap* with a sledge first;) tooSavvy 1
andy18s Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 The tyre would have taken a fair whack to do that to the wheel....Not worth the risk i reckon..
skattrd Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Is there somewhere online where I can check used car values free?
Lacquer Peel Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Search the car on eBay, and tick completed items. It's probably the best real world indicator of car values. Luckythirteen, cort16, KruJoe and 1 other 4
Asimo Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Really silly question. What if you jacked the car up? Would that reduce the pressure in the spheres? If the (Hydragas) suspended car is on jacks, ie no weight on the wheels, suspension drooped, then yes, the gas pressure is less in the suspension units. If you mean by "jacked up" that the ride height is increased by increasing the amount of Hydragas Liquid in the suspension then the answer is no, the gas pressure in the suspension units would not change: the same amount of compressed gas is carrying the same weight of car.
cobblers Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 There's a kid on a scooter who's been giving it some right bastard about the place for most of today. When he goes up hills he's on and off the throttle instead of just holding it on full all the way up What's that about? is there something about 2 stroke I don't understand? He's not trying to slow down or owt, he's got a death wish.

I find my two stroke scooter gets to a higher speed by doing exactly the same-doesn't work on my 4 stroke twist 'n go scooter though. I find it works on the straights too-I only have to ease off the throttle a bit, and then reapply, rather than shut it right off. Mine isn't that loud, but then I'm not 16 years old still.
cort16 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Is there anyway to fix a kink in a cable? I've got a kink in my rovers choke cable and it'll not go down the liner? As the choke handle is crimped on it's 50 quid for a new one.
Bobthebeard Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Stupid question possibly, but have been away for a while. Vulgalour appears to have, err, disappeared. Gone from prolific to zero... Is he ok??
Noel Tidybeard Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 hopefully he's having a spot of holibags before he reaches meltdown
daveb47 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Whats best thing to lubricate creaky window runners on ovlov???

He could be running in a new piston kit. Many schools of thought on the best way to do that, but holding the throttle wide open under load would be a definite no no.
dave21478 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 He could also just be a dick who likes the sound of his obnoxiously loud engine and assumes everyone within 500 yards of the road will be impressed. Plenty like that round here. Luckythirteen 1
phil_lihp Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Whats best thing to lubricate creaky window runners on ovlov??? I have the same issue, the 940's rear windows are very stiff and slow and make some awful noises, I'm guessing a little grease on the runners and pivots on the mechanism would sort it.
D Spares & Tyres Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 rub some brake assembly grease on the inside of the rubbers, normal grease will deteriorate the rubber

Bobthebeard Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 hopefully he's having a spot of holibags before he reaches meltdownJust seen the thread where Vulgalour stomped off. Hope he calms down soon and resumes normal service...Nice bloke.

No - new won't fit. do not buy. You do not want to go smaller on the centre bore or the wheel simply will not fit without machining out the centre of the wheel, which isn't advisable. stillOrange Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Thank you skattrd. Logic told me it would be possible the other way. What about offsets? Higher = out or in?
KruJoe Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 He could also just be a dick who likes the sound of his obnoxiously loud engine and assumes everyone within 500 yards of the road will be impressed. Plenty like that round here. We still hear them going around ChiangMai doing that on-off thing too, I've always thought it was because they thought it made their scooter sound like a mega-super-duper-bike with eleventeen different gears (see Fast'n'Furious gearbox).
skattrd Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 With centre bore you can go bigger and get spigot rings to seat the wheel properly. Lower offset means wheel will stick further out, so may hit the arches when going over bumps.Higher offset means the wheel will be further in, so may foul brakes or steering components. Wheel spacers can be fitted to counteract this, although some people don't like the use of them as they fit between the wheel and hub. I like hub-centric spacers, but these are not cheap. You can often get away with 10mm or so offset difference without issue, but try and find people who've fitted similar wheels before. stillOrange 1
Pillock Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Higher offset means the hub is further out from the centreline of the wheel, which has the effect (since the hub is in the same place) of pushing the rim further in towards the inner arch. So, your wheels will sit 7mm closer to your arch/suspension. http://www.willtheyfit.com is a good site to go through different combinations, since you're only looking at wheel position there, not including wheel width or tyre size. stillOrange 1

Plenty like that round here. Ah, the joy of living in France. I'm going over on the motorbike for a few days to stay at a mates place there. All you can hear are the screaming engines of mercilessly thrashed two strokes for hours on end. At least my one is quiet!
Honey Badger Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Whats best thing to lubricate creaky window runners on ovlov???Silicone grease, help lubricate the runners and makes the seals swell stopping wind noise, good for door and sunroof seals as well. Cheap plumbers silicone grease should do, I smear it on sparingly with my fingers while wearing nitrile gloves if you put too much on it leaves smears. You can also be easily lead idiot and buy Shin-Ematzu grease for £35 for a 100g tube for roof seals on an S2000, only to find its the same as the stuff I could swipe from work for bugger all. Bobthebeard Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Whilst driving on the A75 recently noticed a lot of pop bottles by the side of the road half full of what looked suspiciously like piss! Stupid question, but WTF? If it is indeed piss how did someone manage to piss into a pop bottle whilst driving?
Bobthebeard Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Its piss, happy to help. EDIT: Lorry drivers. Thanks! The 'why' is obvious. The 'how' not so obvious!
