Remembered i was given a grease gun by my father about 25 years ago. I must have used it on the bike so its filled with white grease. I take it this is no good for the Reliant that type of grease?

This is the £80 odd quid OEM power steering cooler pipes for my Mazda...

Now, on the Mazda 323 forum, I've seen suggestion of replacing it with a generic cooler like this.... Would it work?

Look up Moog's mx5 thread for a superb solution to this!

He used copper piping.

Yes it's only a long loop to store extra fluid and allow cooling.

Or do what I did with copper pipe for many pounds cheaper. Was just some 10mm pipe plus fuel hose and clamps.

Edit: just seen mr Touring has suggested it.

Or do what I’m about to do and bypass the fucker. Cars are designed with all conditions in mind. Unless your drifting in California it will prob be fine without it

Cheers for the tips, doubt I have Moog's skill in fashioning my own one and finding somewhere to mount it as well!

I'm sure it's been covered before but if I buy a car with no MOT and pre-book a test what happens about tax and insurance?

Honestly I am a ham fisted idiot. I just use the factory location - if it was an option there are places to put it.

But as Mr smoke said unless track racing or similar probably don't need one.

You don't need tax and insurance will be ok, unless there's some obviously dangerous illegal fault, but then I think that would be case with an MOT'd and taxed car.

Just make sure the garage has got it booked in properly in their diary and you know the exact time it's booked in case a really keen copper phones from the roadside to check your story.

Tax isn't an issue but will need to be insured.

Insure as normal, make sure you have a copy with you while on the trip to the MOT station

Looks like it would be quite easy to bypass with an extra bit of pipe. Probably a job to do in a bit if and when I replace the radiator.

regarding mx5s and steering fluid coolers, mazda deleted it from the car in ~1996 but reinstated in to the '98 model onwards.

when I owned avo (moogs current mx5) the cooler sprung a leak so I removed and bypassed it, this was not an issue except when auto testing and on track days where the fluid boiled over. for daily driving, I wouldn't worry too much.

Is a Citroen 1.9d DW8 interference or non interference?

Looking at driving an 18 year old van with 43,000 miles with no history of a change..

Where’s the current most hopeless, slowest, brownest free picture hosting site? All the images in my Recent Ridiculous Rubbish thread are now dead. Thanks Postimage. Would like to re-host them elsewhere.

There aren't any non interference diesels.

Are there any acceptable aftermarket wheel trims?

Halfords used to do a replica of E30 BMW trims that was ok, but I think they've stopped now.Other than that,no.

Very interference. See if you can get a look at the belt and see if there are any visible cracks in it, especially as it goes over a pulley. Essentially very similar to an XUD engine, and despite having had many many of them in various states of belt condition, I've yet to have one actually snap on me.

Other people have had this happen though, and the results are pretty severe. The cylinder head is generally scrap.

I have massively over filled the oil on the Reliant, 1 L because i am fucking hopeless. If i drive it 5 miles any chance of it going bang?

Scored these in a charity shop today, the map light works, a little two way switch selects either white or the small amber lamp, does anyone know what that's about?

I'm guessing the amber is yesteryear's red - a colour you can read by but that doesn't destroy your night vision and is less distracting to the driver

Oh, the days when you stuck a compass on the dash so you knew what direction the car was facing when you got lost and had to dig out a paper map to try and work out where you were. Ruined by modern technology. Nice find and I'd agree with chodweaver.

Right -o, remember, this used to be called 'the stupid questin amnesty' or some such like. This is a stupid question...

CLK, it has a few rust blebs round the wheel arches, they are annoying me. Chrome wheel arches? Yes or no?

Anyone any good at photoshop could modify a picture?

I don't want to spend loads of money on paintwork, I like this car and don't want to get paranoid about it!
