this hunt for the Earhart crash site looks interesting , hope its not a wild goose chase ,

but looking at the write up for the wreck of the SS Norwich City , it would make sense that the plane got beached in the lagoon part of th island near the shore , shelterd shallow water compared to the swell covered coral on the coast .

https://tighar.org/Projects/Earhart/Archives/Research/ResearchPapers/WreckNorwichCity.html

fingers crossed for a closure ..

Wasn't she the one that was rumoured to have been taken prisoner and later murdered by the Japanese @MikeR?

Not sure , but some locals on the island reported seeing her ... Looking at the ship wreck photos the island is very flat and exposed ....

Always wanted to get tickets for 'Have I got news for you'

Apparently there was a seven year waiting list! Not sure if it's still the same now

Go to a tv audience site SRO for lots of programmes, including Have I Got News For You !  Waiting is only a couple of week at the most.

There are more that do tv audiences, I have been to lots of them ;

Somehow my 20 year old MK4 Golf passed its MOT yesterday at just shy of 208K.  First time.  A couple of advisories but I was expecting catastrophic failure.  I expect failure every year but it’s somehow managed at least the last two first time.  It had a new exhaust in April but that’s the only real work it’s had done all year.

I’ve had that car for 9 1/2 years and between us covered 160K.  Don’t think it owes us anything.  Especially as I inherited it.

We did it last year after finally getting tickets through SRO. A fair bit of hanging about, but was very enjoyable. Riverside studios Hammersmith was the venue.

I should be viewing a serviced office to rent soon, because I've done some man maths and worked out it's actually just as cost effective as working from Costa a few days a week. I find having the mental separation from my living space helpful, and it'll get me out of the house more consistently.

Don't get me wrong, working from home is great, but I do seem to have a tendency to isolate myself somewhat. And I deal with that by buying shit I don't need!

I can vouch for Lost in TV, as they're who I've got all my tickets through (the remake of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 2x QIs, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and most recently Wheel of Fortune)

I’ve use lostintv a couple of times, got tickets to the out in the open top gear, QI home audience during the second lockdown (which had Steven K Amos sadly, he’s a knob) and we could have gone to Celebrity Juice but couldn’t make the logistocs work.

A couple of days ago, I went to Evesham in my X308 with a mate to play some pool at a bar. Wrong day it turned out to be given it was a Saturday and it was PACKED.

However, because of the heavy traffic, I parked the Jag on a car park just off the side of the High St, as I got out the car, a little old lady sitting a Renault Modus behind me called me over to express how nice the Jag is and regale a tale of when she was younger driving her children in a Jaguar and not knowing that she was doing a 3-figure MPH on the motorway until her husband told her 😆

I did that just after I got my BX.  Accelerated out of a roundabout on a dual carriageway and daughter #2 said "Do you know you're doing 110"?

I didn't of course and was rather surprised.

Viewing booked for Wednesday. No idea how any of this works, first time for everything!

Honestly the main thing I need to work out is how the hell to get my desk and computer over there. Must remember to ask them if there's parking round the back, don't need it while I'm actually using the place but the street parking at the front isn't exactly ideal for moving in everything.

Also need to decide which PC I want to have there. Could just have a laptop dock there and use the zenbook, or the ThinkCentre, or the big bastard workstation. Many options.

This happened quite a lot when I had my X308 - An old bloke up the road was absolutely smitten with it. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I ended up scrapping it after the gearbox blew up.

He liked the S Class, but always said he preferred the Jaguar as not German etc.

There's definitely something about a Jag, especially older ones. My e65 BMW and early LS400 were in every quantifiable way probably better than the equivalent Jag but there's definitely something special about a Jag that's difficult to put your finger on.

Quote from a relative of my wife's on FB - yup, that's going to work.

I'll be coming off here for a few days, I'm being bullied and intimidated by someone who's not on here but it's making me quite ill.

How could you see that, if blind? Or drive, for that matter.

I'd be looking to switch cover, if that's their level of competence.
