I ordered a pizza last night, it was delivered by a guy who's probably about 20. He was driving a Celica.

There used to be a driver worked for that shop that had a seemingly endless selection of turbo nutter bastard volvos. When I was a driver for a different shop I sold him a V70 stereo and in order to facilitate the sale he bought a load of chicken wings so that I had an excuse to drive out that way. Don't know what he's up to now, but I see him driving a P2 V70 around occasionally.

There's a bloke around the corner from me got an immaculate red t5r that he leaves on the main drag. He's owned it for at least 20 years that I know of. It's now been joined by a slamon coloured v70 Sreg estate t5 also immaculate.

He's living the dream imo and has my perfect garage.

Can get pics if interested.

I've got an apprentice that has a 52 plate Celica. He says the insurance in a fraction of a Corsa or Fiesta (the first choice for young lads).

When I was 21 it was cheaper for me to insure a 2.5 850 than it was for me to insure the 1.9 tdi Golf it replaced, and I was paying less than some of my friends were paying for sub 1.5 shitboxes.

New neighbour has moved in down the road.

2 very shitty looking vans. One sounds like it runs on 2 cyclinders. And a ropey merc A2 circa 2002.

AnOther neighbour was trying to get me involved in discussing another neighbours visit to tell the said new neighbour that it's just an eyesore.  Where surprisingly an ear full was given.  Yes. I'd tell you to fuck off too. None of your fucking business.

I must go around and tell them I salute them.

Why can't people just be nice. There is nothing stopping them having two rusty vans.

I've just got off the phone sending my last payment!

Not my last ever, sadly; it's guaranteed in life that there will be more payments ahead for this and that!  But this one I've sent this morning clears the account for our Florida villa next April.  That's a good thing to have off my back.  Mind, I still have to arrange insurance, flights, rental car, road trip itinerary...

Any tips for getting good deals? My family want to go there next year and I'm looking to get the most for our money.

We've booked the villa with Debbie's Villas.  You should be able to find them easily enough.  Four bedroom villa with pool, in Kissimmee (south side of Orlando, near Disney, in April), £1500.  So far the process has been great.  Choosing a villa was easy, we booked the week we wanted and we've paid for it in easy instalments.  As for the rest, it's all to come.  Also, it's ten years since our last US trip and things have changed; not least being, I'm not the man I was.  So I'll certainly share the experience as we build the rest of the trip, if you like.

If you fancy a road trip, rather than just a week in Orlando, then we've always found it best to arrange everything independently.  I sit down with actual paper maps and my laptop and work out where I want to go; then find suitable motels near where I've picked.  America's full of them, it's not difficult.  We like Holiday Inn Express, because it usually includes some sort of breakfast, which is unusual Over There.  But saying that: wherever you are there will be diners open for breakfast, usually done as a fixed-price buffet.

In most places you will be able to pick up books of discount vouchers for the local area, which will help; remember retail prices Over There normally don't include local sales tax, so if you have a voucher, you can bring the bill back down to about what you were expecting.  Tipping servers is the norm, at about 10-20%.  The breakfast diners, and many others, will often appear in the voucher books, so it really is worth grabbing those.

If you're going to be Orlando-based, try and get to Kissimmee Old Town on a Friday and/or Saturday afternoon.  You'll see the cars assembling for the Cruise Night (both nights) which is just a big open car show.  There'll be no shortage of dining options on site.  Also, I would imagine it's still around: there was a big flea market/swapmeet at Daytona on a Sunday.  It's only an hour or so away so you might as well go and have a look.

Safe travels!

Sorry if this is obvious to you or others @eddyramrod, but a few sites I've found very useful for US travel:

  • www.priceline.com for accommodation/mystery hotel type deals
  • www.autoslash.com for tracking your rental car offer, to find better deals if any are available (but: note that it’s meant for the american market, where your own car insurance covers the rental car as well. Make sure that collision damage waiver is included)
  • flights.google.com for finding the cheapest flights, you can also search for multiple airports at the same time (Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Tampa eg)
  • Thanks 2

That would be great if you could share what you're doing.
