Have you checked the 'best before' dates?

Now that you mention it, not when I bought them. But it says 28.05.2005 on the boxes. Sounds good to me!

Hopefully he managed to take better photos than I did.  I still don't want to sign up to FB mind, even though I know there's all those lovely wedge resources over there just waiting for me.

Any potential calendar shots?

Spring. Here to stay. Looking forwards to sunshine for two months, and then to scorching heat.IMG_20240317_132444_002.jpg.9f52866555a7979406c7ac4357168da7.jpg

This is good to know. I'm flying to Bucharest in two months and staying in Sinaia for a few days. I picked Sinaia because it is on the Bucharest to Brașov main line so there will be plenty of trains to mess about on whilst also looking quite scenic being up in the mountains. I hope it looks like the picture above.

Sinaia for a few days

Spring is rainy in the mountains, expect nice British weather (7-15 degrees, and most likely rain daily). It's 860 meter above sea level, where I took the picture is around 60 meters above the sea level. Look for yourself, tomorrow, as the cams are live. Circle trough more of them, you'll see it's mostly spruce, pine and fir threes (the webcams are from the road, to see the traffic, and from the slopes):  https://www.infoalpin.ro/live/webcam-sinaia-trafic-dn1/

If you'll be staying at Sinaia hotel, and like it quiet, change your accomodations. It's the one hotel I know of that has a dance club, and at night you can hear the music from across the street.

Thanks, I'm going at the end of May so hopefully warmer even in the mountains. I have Sinaia and Brașov on my weather app already but I will keep the link above. I know it is high up, Predeal which is 25 minutes up the line, is the highest station in Romania at 1034m. Which is way, way higher than anything in the UK so I am looking forward to it.

The hotel I've booked is the Rina Cerbal which, looking at the map, is within earshot of the Sinaia Hotel. I'm not really bothered, I picked it due to it's price and proximity to the station. Whilst I will obviously have a look round the town I intend to spend more time on the trains than not on them. So even if I don't sleep well I only have to stagger down to the station and I can fall asleep on the train. I find it very easy to sleep on trains.

Rina Cerbal

🤪

Just the one I wanted to suggest! It's part of the same company as Hotel Sinaia across the street, the rooms are furnished the same, but it scores 2 starts and not 4 due to the fact it's an old really nice building, and as such the corridors are not at the width requirement for 3 stars. And it didn't had en suite bathrooms for all the rooms, but now it does, it's just that the rooms are smaller and the bathroom is not big enough. Then again, at a bit over half the price of the one across the street, you can't complain.

The main road makes a 90 degrees right turn going from București towards Brașov right around Cerbul (that's the name, not "Cerbal", and it means "The Stag"). Over the road before the turn is Sinaia Hotel, over the road after the turn is the central park of the city, and next to it the Casino.

Just two hints: in the bus station in the park you'll find a non-stop shop, if you need a pack of cigarettes/biscuits/gum or some wine/beer at  0 dark hundred hours, and going towards Brașov right after Cerbul hotel (you'll pass it coming from the station) is a nice coffee shop with some lovely cakes.

Got an email about the minimum wage increase pay rise at work, and just as expected there was a sob story about the company doing shit.

It's always when they have to pay us more 🤣

Multumesc! (I've learnt a few words and numbers but certainly not enough to have a conversation).

You certainly seem to know the area. A 24 hour shop will certainly be handy as a couple of mornings I shall be leaving too early for the hotel breakfast. And I had already seen the bakery on Google maps but thanks for the tip.

I was on Grand Turismo 7 earlier working through the Normal licences, then onto the Master licences.
This one was really easy to pass, must be all the practice I’ve had.

I was taking to a guy who struggles to find bar staff, the cost to him to employ someone on minimum wage was £15 an hour by the time you'd factored in pension and employer NIC

3 Bar staff, £45 an hour, open for 10 hours £450 a day, on top of all the other costs that takes a bit of finding

It's OK government thinking they're improving people's lives  but if the business goes under they aren't

What they should be doing is raising the tax threshold so employees keep more of what they earn, not keep bumping the minimum wage up

Like the government (especially the current one) ever does anything with improving people's lives in mind other than their own.

Just done my shopping in Sainsburys . Leg of lamb, beef joint, loads of veg, big jar of gold blend and a few other bits and pieces.

First they sent me a £4 off coupon if you spent £30. Then some silly nectar points prices (15p for some veg), followed by 20% staff discount for the bank holiday. Then found out my nectar card ( rescued from filler spreading duty) had £25 on it.

Total spend just over £2.

What cost of living crisis?

Police cars seem to cruise at 69 on motorways, so why is there always a queue of cars behind them? Seen this multiple times over the years. This happened again on Tuesday on the M80. I cruised past at 72 and they never batted an eyelid. Bet they sit there laughing their heads off at the queue behind them.

Wouldn't fancy trying to overtake a traffic car with their blues and twos on though 😄😄

Sorry no pic, because driving (still need to set up that dash cam I bought about 4 months ago....)

But drove past a catering van type thing this afternoon, thought nothing of it, until I saw the choice of tow car attached to it.

A bloody Daewoo Nubira estate! In that rather nice burgundy red colour

When did you last see one? Let alone being used to tow someone a bit more substantial than a tip waste trailer :)

I remember in high school there was a fit PE teacher who had a white Nubira Wagon.

The Nubira Wagon was possibly the most popular Daewoo model sold in Australia. There seems to be plenty around, whereas Matiz, Lanos and other models were quite rare from new.

I could try to change the Xsara Picasso's clock, but I fear of releasing some sort of demon or magic smoke from behind the dash 😅🤣
