Because the idiots sold off their fleets due to C-19 and can’t get enough new cars.

* And because other idiots will pay €1,000 for a few days.

Yup, that's what I heard too. Even in the UK, booking a car with Avis from Gatwick for a week is a minimum of £805.71, though may be cheeper through comparison sites.

And home, A great laugh with a friend, some good grub and a beer later, We are back.

26 or so miles later, my arse hurts and im feeling rather unfit.  But £35 quid on two old bikes was money well spent.

While its a bit small for him my mates taken his bike home and it will get a clean up and live on with him.

My bike performed good enough,  okay so im not able to select 5,10 or 15th gear but still it made it, i did however purchase one of those gel covers for the seat at a wilko in hemel.  I May chuck that on my other bike thats kept at my parents. ive no use for mine and nowhere at the flat to keep it (currently shoved in a bush at the side of my home)

Anyone want a free bike? Ill chuck an ad on here but as its worth nowt i feel it will just end up re donated.

10/10 would recommend doing this with a friend.

Personally I’d oil the chain on the grey one at the very least…

It had some oil on it, the rusty water went eveywhere making it look worse.

Overall a decent but older bike, univega alpina 501 seems to be from the mid 90s with a chromoly frame.  Fancy!

@Andyrewcould you donate the bike to local foodbank? Someone needing their services might appreciate free transport.

Where are you based? I grew up in Harpenden so spent many happy* hours doing school cross-country runs along the Nicky Line and through Rothampstead Park (it was better than playing rugby which was the other option).

I grew up in dunstable and recently moved to a wee flat in harpo town near the train station.

It will probably end up donated again but ill try here first incase someone wants it.

I talked last week to someone from the Netherlands who was paying €2400 for 19 days. The hire car AXA are providing me with while they sloooowly make their minds up about what they want to do about our car apparently is only costing €30 per day, albeit without insurance. I'm surprised they were willing to provide it for that price, although I suppose it's a contract.

There is a sign by the entrance to my workshop that reads : Do not distract the tester :

Yesterday afternoon some knobhead is hanging around at the entrance I asked if  I could help.

"what's the deal with nextdoor ?"    "they've got a van for sale " okay I asked if he'd phoned the number on the sign. He shows me a photo on his phone.Yeah but no reply " this is  so and so business park "  yes it is " and that's number 8" err no that's number 6 there s a number 6 on the door and a window. The sign out front reads unit 6. Number 8 are out on a job probably won't be back until six o'clock. So after a vacant look he buggers off and I go back to testing.

Spoke to the guys at number 8 this morning. They sold the van a year ago. This bright spark had been looking at a facebook advert from a year ago.

To be fair folk often don't delete their ads and it's not immediately obvious on mobile how old an ad is-"over a month old" is as much as it gives you. No excuse for bothering you though.

I posted an image of this workshop sink a couple of years back and today was mildly amused to see this homemade mixer tap is still providing top quality blending of hot 'n' cold water at a fast fit in Aldershot.

Doing some crabbing in Torquay. Threw the net in - not quick enough to grab the cord. Lost the lot.

I bent down too quickly and split my shorts from arsehole to breakfast time. I then had to walk back to the car.
