What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Not perfect, but perfectly good enough.  A couple of small pieces to finish, the grinding, sealing, and painting to finish it all off.  A very big job that would have been easier if I could have got the proper repair panels for this side instead of making do with front wings.

So due to supply chain issues we are advised to use parts from used vehicles. What a bizarre idea, it'll never catch on here.

Price-gouging profiteering shites can get in the fucking sea; the day internet monopolists are charged a decent rate of tax will not come soon enough.

Puma has just failed it's Mot.

Why is this a grin?

Because all it failed on was a leaking shock & one headlamp aim too low.

They couldn't adjust the headlamp,as the adjuster wouldn't move, but they'll have more time to look at it when it goes in on Monday for 2 new shocks.

With thoughts turning to Halloween it's good to know there's someone willing to check my ghost is roadworthy.

Criminal waste of skin; there's a lot of it about, although the budding Moriartys generally don't advertise their criminality on ZuckerBook as blatantly as that. I'd suggest crimestoppers but these days they'd probably ignore it.

Unless you are over 70, then BE goes to 2,600kg and you lose some other categories,  such as D1, & C1, and others,  whenever you passed your test. I passed  in 1969. To get them back, you must have an expensive medical.  Look for  more  DVLA trailer changes coming soon.

The street sweeper machine came round at 7 a.m. this morning.

Now there is a man with a leaf blower blowing all the leaves from the footpaths, parking spaces and grassed areas onto the road.

And the street sweeper back to slurp up all the leaves.

Great co-ordination.

Reminds me of a book from the 1930s I saw at an auction

Things have moved on since the 30s 😂Screenshot_20210915-184151_Facebook.thumb.jpg.f612ce7a992ec08755e08585b6e89a59.jpg

I needed some cheering up so I re-ran the Micra's insurance quotes as renewal's next month:

That's rather good. I paid £1800 last year for black box insurance alone.

EDIT: Ran the numbers on the BX as well and insurance dropped by £600 to £1411. Nice!

Micra started sputtering, surging and running like general shit the moment it tried to idle, was really worried something else was bloody wrong with it's throttlebody, thankfully fresh Shell Vpower and some RedEx has returned 100% normal driving, over 50miles today without a problem.  Bloody thing is really picky on fuel it seems.

Things will only be getting worse with E10 and vehicles doing low mileage. I am seeing the backlash of lockdown with some high end classics not being used as the fuel is going off.

I had a smile today getting fuel in a Cobra, a lovely 1966 D reg Moggy in front with a rack on the boot and a wee picnic basket. The owner said hello walking back to his car then came back as he read the 1965 C rec plate on the Cobra and asked if it was original or a kit car. We had a good chat and a look under the bonnet much to the disgust of the cashier. I admired his Morris and he knows my friend with the stretched V8 split screen.

Happy days.

There are already Special People signing a petition to have the rule put back; I'm not familiar with larger caravans, are there really ones that weigh 3.5t? I'm thinking that even 7m long ones don't weigh that.

That may be a caravans weight, but there are other trailers that carry (up to) that weight. New weight regs useful for those drivers, but I dont object to taking a test.

Commiserations to those sacked from government. Must be especially painful knowing you were sacked from a cabinet that has Nadine Dorries.

I'd like to see the road stats showing number of towing accidents before B+E became a mandatory test & after.

Yes they'll be lower due to no fucker on the road during lockdown, but I don't think there will be much difference in reality.
