The saph speedo goes up to 150mph and many years ago on a private test track with sutty2006 in front in his mondeo st tdci I saw an indicated 140 (god knows actual speed you know these old ford speedos) it made me laugh

I did think the mk1 sierra 1.3 and 1.6 speedo was optimistic at 130mph

I once saw 135 mph on the Speedo of a 3 speed automatic mk2 cavalier 1.8 CDI

I reckon it was doing 70 ish.

In Wales.

I have been expressly warned the cabin is not to be used for motorcycle storage :)

Hang them on the wall, say it's cheaper than buying pictures. It's not storage, it's display.

This story about 11 e34's bought by a Bulgarian hire company then forgotten about. The ultimate barn find? image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Never registered, no miles.

Not sure how they'd be registered anywhere in EU now, as they don't meet current new car standards. They'll probably end up in Turkey or somewhere less fussy about regulations.

They can.

No need to be new. Hell, I reckon that it'd be even possible to do it in Ireland even if Applus+ were being bellends.

Washing machine finally went tits up after repeated repairs today. Ordered a replacement about 4pm, due for delivery 1pm tomorrow. Blooooody ell! That’s quick.

Saw a white VW Golf MkIV Estate SDI at Tesco in Dover this afternoon. The Holy Grail of post-2000 VAG spots. Rare as Hen's teeth.

There's a burnt orange Polo Estate SDI in Deal and that's probably even rarer but it's on a pre-2000 plate. Almost nobody bought an SDI Estate Golf. So far, I've only ever seen two and the other one was in the Fleet Air Arm Museum car park about two years ago.

Brightened up what would otherwise be a miserable day.

Hmm SDI

Not car related but I love the creative effort. This guy is a big Jaws fan and made a cot for his baby....

That's brilliant, Mrs fp says things like that and this is why daddies shouldn't be left to their own devices with babies

Personally I don't see what she's getting at

SAAB 9000 Aero manual I owned had a 'book' top speed of 149, speedo only went up to 140.

I couldn't possibly comment any further, officer.....

I think the biggest discrepancy betwixt top speed and top of the speedo that I've experienced is a smiley Transit 190TD -  speedo went up to 150, van ran out of revs at 78.

Actually in my photo there you can see my 160mph speedo on a 110bhp BMW. Book speed is 110mph I think.

My theory is that the speedo dials, ECUs and whatever will be shared across models so it'll always go up to whatever the fastest model does

Not that unheard of. I'm pretty sure Cavalier Mk2s had at least 120mph speedos, if not 140. My 2CV is the only vehicle I've driven when you can actually use all of the speedometer (and a bit more).

My first car, a Mini 1000, after having the head gas flowed would run the needle right around to the fuel guage! Somewhere I have a photo of it.

I was glad the Merc thermostat swap went well - my shite fettling mojo has been non-existant recently..

Missus and I took the dog for a walk this morning because it was nice. Yes she's wearing her slippers. Don't ask.

This evening, after having gone to work to fix a problem post lightning, took down all the outside decorations, took the mower out, fitted new belt, greased all the nipples and mowed the yard.

Running pretty good, though a large limb of one of the neighbor's trees broke off and landed in my yard. Gonna have to cut that up. I hate pine trees.

Yard looks tidy again. Just finished up after doing the edges and back garden (ride on doesn't fit through the gate). Got several face-fuls of spiderwebs. I hate spiders.

Yay yard work in January. Whoop the South.

Had a delivery of aggregate whilst I was out, phone call along the lines of...

“Just tip it where the last load was and I’ll shovel it to where I need it”

Excellent

Had to chuckle and thankfully not as King Arthursome to remove as I feared.

I think that they could apply for historical registrations in some countries. Being new and unregistered could prove to be a hurdle some authorities could not handle.
