I grew myself up on minder and lovejoy! Love them all!

Lovejoy was on drama this morning , saw a new J reg Celica on it

I really miss TV like the Sweeney, minder, lovejoy

Good result on insurance for the modern car - AA renewal quotation was £443 on the Avensis, which seemed rather excessive given my age and amount of NCB.

When I renewed my multi car insurance policy on the classics with FJ earlier in the year I asked if they could include a daily driver and they said they could look at it. Gave them a ring and it turned out I could add it for a price of about half what the AA quoted. Would've been even cheaper than that if I hadn't needed business use.

On pistonheads everybody tells you a non fault claim counts against you so your premium increases

We had one last year, this year same company £15 less and last year's was the best quote I got so that's bollocks

That's me you are describing, but thanks for your understanding*.

Well, when one of them had their Mum doing coursework for them, my sympathy wore a little thin...

Congratulations - hopefully his name will be something suitably car focused :-)

I'm thinking 'Riva'.

Watch ITV4. The Sweeney, Minder, The professionals are on quite often.

Love the very first episode of the Sweeney with Brian Blessed as Frank Kemble the Gangster. Plus a couple of decent episodes with Patrick Mower as an Aussie con man.

Aside from that mega grin also wanted to shout out all the maternity staff at Leeds LGI who were absolutely awesome x 1million

NHS rulez ok!

Congratulations Mr Fairkens.

I've had 2 non fault claims, no change on insurance. Wife has had a non fault claim, no change in insurance.

All rear end accidents, all around Bristol. People just don't concentrate properly around here.

Found something cool today. Some obsolete technology.... on a BT PhoneCard.c828f2189a44bea3c87f6a560943bc2f.jpg2698442d2a103429ce2df54d8f3be122.jpg

Nostalgia. I've had a BT charge card since the mid-nineties, at least in part because I'm a luddite, and was using it occasionally when I needed to use a phonebox; I went to use it a couple of weeks ago and 'this number has not been recognised; please redial or contact the operator'. Some googling later and buried in a very bland press release I discover that the buggers binned the system in March without so much as a goodbye and thanks for your custom.

I have had two over space of ten years, one when my car was in a works carpark and someone reversed into it - premium went up.

Then I was stopped turning right indicating and someone went into the car behind and into me - premium went up.

So wasn't bollocks in that case.

Was stopped in traffic, squinted. Decided the designers at Kia looked at a Citroën GSA and decided they liked the overall shape.

Wonder how he got a Dutch 2cv? They were used extensively in the Netherlands as they are great on cobbled roads, there were still police 2cvs in use in quieter areas when I lived there in the early 90s.

Was that included with the handbook so you could ring the AA during the warranty period? :D

Some twat using the exit ramp from my car park to turn his car around - leaving me sitting on an uphill ramp with the electric gates wanting to close

Grin comes when he reversed his 66 plate E class into a bollard. Hard. Despite having sensors and a camera.

Organised to go and view (probably buy!) A gt86.

Slight logistical issue, it's in Lancaster.

About 3 hours away.

I have one of those! :)

I passed one yesterday on the way through Wroxham.  V plater.

I also saw an Aston Martin Cygnet, bouncing towards me along a fen road about 10 minutes after leaving Skattrd's yesterday.  Looked proper out of place.

the latest RCR is pretty damn grin worthy  (funnily enough we had a family friend who we called "uncle mike" and he owned a couple Routemasters...)

(one of the comments say: ""Multi-Fuel'"   When my father was in the Army, they were told that in an emergency, these could run on oil-based paint." I wonder if it actually could? I imagine it would prolly jam the injectors up in no time esp if it dried out....)
