Bumped into mechanic cousin at a christening yesterday.

Net result - buy the kit and bung him £50 and that’s the timing belt in the daily sorted. Works out about a third of what a garage would charge. Am quite pleased with that.

When I started gym again a year ago I struggled with 40kg on the chest press for four sets of ten. I've just done one set of 95kg and three sets of 100kg.

Getting to one set on 100kg with the rest lower was my aim so I've beaten that.

That's ace mate, the best thing I did was start the gym a bit back, im trying to bulk at the minute I lost a bit too much weight and also dropped to 5% body fat

There are some great cars ( and music) in little drummer girl. I’ve not read the books as I started with JLCarre after this period, but it seems interesting.

Amongst other vehicles, we have had am nsu ro80, many w123 merc’s including an ambulance and a ford crapi.

A surfeit of anachronistic V8 soundtracks though, which spoiled my enjoyment of the wall-to-wall beigeness.

The horn's definitely the problem. I can hear the relay clicking. Let's check the connections at the horn.

So where is the horn? Tucked under the bum end of the inaccessible. I can't see how it's possible without taking the flaming bumper/front panel off. Surely that's not right, Shirley?

Anyway. I reverted to default, had a minor tantrum and poked it with my longest screwdriver. End result: it works!

Job jobbed, vehicle maintenance technician.

you will now need to sound the horn at regulsr intervals to excercise it so it doesn't seize up again

To counteract the Runway-induced near-death experiences of today, a bloke followed me and parked up next to me just so he could talk about the Princess.  He'd been having a shitty day and seeing a Princess made it much better, and why wouldn't it?  It's a bit weird getting attention like that with the car, but so far it's all been perfectly harmless and people are just happy to see the car, I'm not super-precious if people are nice and I always offer to let people have a sit because hey, that cheers folks up too!

It is a bit weird, all the same, that something that I enjoy is also enjoyed by complete strangers outside of the internet.  That's something I'm not really used to and I doubt I ever will get used to.

EDIT: and I just got bought a tyre for my birthday XD

I found an old wallet containing £45, but in the old paper notes. Figuring nothing to lose, I stuck them in an envelope and sent them, second class, to the Bank of England. Within a week, there was £45 transferred into my bank account.

Excellent service.

I wedged a bit of stick I found on mums driveway under the passenger headlamp and now the beam pattern is much better!

a Lighting buddy of mine just linked me to these Tubes https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283228221905

which at that point I shat the bed and sent a best offer of £20 for 2 and got auto-accepted

I shat the preverbal bed because the fluorescent tubes in the ebay link are incredibly rare, special and historically quite important

not only are they of the Rare 15W T12 size and Also coloured which would of been an impressive find on its own

but notice the "Under Sylvania licence" this indicates its one of the earliest fluorescent tubes From Atlas

dating to the late 1940s-1950s (no late then the early 60s because by then they switched to a different etch style omitting the "under Sylvania licence" text)

the "Under Sylvania licence" comes from the Fact Jules Thorn (who ran Atlas) struck up a deal with Sylvania in the US to use their Lighting tech which you can read about here :)http://www.lamptech.co.uk/Documents/Factory%20-%20UK%20-%20Enfield.htm "Start of Fluorescent Manufacturing"

really excited to find and get a couple of these :) until now I had only seen one other tube with the "under Sylvania licence" etch

Hopefully they arrive intact, I gave instructions to the seller to and how to pack them well, (and buying 2 affords me a bit of redundancy should the worst happen)

also calling Zelandeth to the Beige Phone I repeat calling Zelandeth to the beige phone

How do you display the lights and what not you've got? Are they on display boxed or whatever, or do you have them all lit up somehow?

sadly due to storage limitations and being a bit crippled most of them are in boxes and stored away

I would LOVE to have a big fuck off glass cabinet to display my more "exotic" examples in (and easier access storage for the rest)

but alas no way I could do something like that where I live so from time to time Ill dig out a couple lamps/tubes from storage, give them a Run on my "test bench" take a few pictures  :) and then put them back in storage

Just had a sirloin steak for dinner in Wetherspoons - usually pretty fucking average but OK for the low price.

It was amazing! Cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Only difference between it and one in a fancy steak restaurant for 3x the price is the quality of the meat but cooked like that you’d barely notice.

It's a fairly common name tbh.

How many pints first though?

I've just been out in the 205, and was pleasantly surprised how quickly it warms up for a diesel.

It's officially my backup daily now, I might even SORN an Aerodeck ;)

Just had some friends come round, bit embarrassing really as sat in my tracky bottoms, teeth out (I did mention when I was ill last year all my teeth fell out?) and cuddled up with the dogs under a duvet!

But, they brought me a book and the best card of ever!

Meg and Harry in NZ.

BMW lovers---- Why are they being carted about in an old 750Li (old = 2012) ? The govt has a fleet of newish 2016 ones, surely they are much, much betterer and cheaperer to run because diesel powered.

THE TRUTH---- The old one weighs 1500 + kg more than "factory" and notice the huge run-flat tyres it has. Oh and it has very thick glass.

Made me grin.

I suspect that the armoured glass is probably to stop Prince Harry shooting back.

I'd just like to say that recent cross references to shows like Peep Show, Fawlty Towers and other Britcoms have been much enjoyed, and have really enhanced my enjoyment of the main forum of late.

Carry on.
