What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Met up with my friend last night as we do every 2 or 3 months, we go for a meal. We have done this for the last 16 years. She is veggie, so I also go veggie. Have had some really nice food.

Anyway, food bits aside. I bought (on her behalf) an 09 plate Nissan Note about 3 or 4 years ago. It's a lovely car but I'd never been in the car to drive it or be a passenger. She took me for a spin and oh, what a really nice car. Nicely set out dash, comfy seats and a bloody good amount of space. Colour me impressed :)

Was very happy to see this sweet little 2CV in the office car park this morning, it looked in great keep and had a slight smell of warm oil, now trying to suss out who owns it so I can have a go!

I also wasn’t expecting it to look quite so petite next to my car. Between my car, the Octavia to its right and the Mokka that pulled in behind it, it looked almost miniature!

There seem to be quite a few 2CVs round where I live. There's a red one, a blood and custard Dolly that an older bloke seems to be running as a daily, and I saw a white one being driven by a middle aged woman the other day too. Quite surprising really.

I wanted to go to upullmeoff to rape some wiper arms off a Panpan.

I have 3.2 million 13mm sockets in the shed and couldn't find any.

Nearby there's a Halfords/poundstretcher/poundshop/bnm and an aldi.

I tried aldi for a special buy and no luck. Halfords were several million pounds. Baring in mind I only needed a 13mm. Bnm had this for £5.99 and it came with a ratchet made from tin foil. The sockets are made from Taiwanese milk bottle lids. But it was £5.99!!!

I'm grinning because I know this is the worst shit I've ever bought and I'll be using my snap on ratchet with the sockets.

I use one of them as my mini ratchet, mainly for getting into small parts once already loosened off with a spanner, it does the job surprisingly well considering the mechanism is mostly all plastic tat.

The sockets? not so much, they don't even shatter or snap, they burst/tear open like a paper bag.

I do wish there were more on the road around here, I love them! I live around Cambridge and am surprised at how few of them are around here!

Rolson tools used to be commonly sold in Maplin branches....

I've got one of those Rolson sets somewhere.  As Mrcento says, the sockets won't take a lot of grief.  The ratchet also now has quite a bit of play in it, although it does keep on clicking away.

Down here we have a giant theater production which is absolutely brilliant, the company are from France and extremely eccentric. I was involved with it last time they were here and noticed they had used some prime french sourced chod, namely visas and Renner 25 which were attached in a stack, this year the have speared a bloody Safrane with a fork and left it in the street

Yeah, car vandalism on a grand scale. I've seen the bus too...

In happier news, we saw a Lanca Flavia on the M1 yesterday. Didn't get a great picture of it mind you...

Cambridge 2CV is a well regarded specialist nearby in Elsworth. There could be a few lurking about.

Ah that’s fantastic news! I work just 5 minutes from Elsworth so will be a bit more keen eyed. They have a gorgeous yellow one for sale currently there, so worth a visit!

That Star Trek: First Contact still holds up.  It's an absolutely brilliant film and still visually stunning.

Left one of these in the boot of the 100HP for when it leaves Kringle at the side of the road

The Puma needed a new rear box.

I was going to get a standard one from wherever was cheapest on ebay.

Somehow I ended up with a straight through job that looks like a Cherry Bomb.

It sounds like a low flying plane & pops & bangs on the overrun.

I'm such a child  :-D

Yesterday, line manager at work said his superior had asked him if he 'knew if anyone had a knackered old Citroen, as he thought it might have been dumped in the car park'.

I'm winning.

Spotted a lovely D plate Astra 1.6 diesel Merit outside the Tesco today, it had just started up and was chucking a load of clag out of the back. Proper grim.

Sad as I am I looked it up when I got back. 30k from new but recent advisory on test for fractured inner structure sounded bizarre.

If you can forgive the script some absurd ities and and can forget it really isn't a StarTrek film (rather an "action" film with some StarTrek things in it)....
