Facebook has informed me that Leeds on the 27th of October is having:-

"Leeds Day of the Dead Fiesta!"

Somehow I doubt it will be what I've imagined it to be...

Pulled the generator apart tonight.

post-5454-0-99838100-1503970409_thumb.jpg

Reason? Starter wouldn't engage, just a clunk of solenoid. Solenoid was riveted together, don't know why, every other aspect of it was designed to be serviceable. Regardless, found the culprit; a bit of chemistry.

The terminal there, connected to the negative side of the battery had turned totally green but the steel nut on the copper terminal was fine so I pulled it out and cleaned it up.

The positive connection was fine, the copper all shiny but the steel nut has corroded very badly. Didn't have to get that one off, thankfully...

Reassembled it with screws, net result now is the switch operates the starter motor. All I have to do now is coax some life back into the battery and I'll be all set.

Fine for tooling about on Capri, etc where the maximum speed is about 10mph(unless you're a homicidal minicabist) but a bit of a deathtrap anywhere else.

They're a death trap when they have full rigidity. Might as well do it topless...

Mrs V8 has gone camping for the week with her mates and the kids.I have stayed as on nightshift.

So do i go all Tom Cruise in Risky business, hire hookers and coke, have a party?

Lie in bed all day watching youporn(other porn sites are available)(so i'm told).

Phone in sick for the week, fill the car with the devils jizz and head off on a road trip,as long as I answer calls and messages she would never know.

No I have been on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom, floor and shower.

Living the high life.

Every car in Paris looks like old chod, they just bump park everywhere and every car seems to have dents factory fitted as standard. Get to the Place de la Concord for the lights Grand Prix, seven lanes at the lights, three across the bridge, no markings. Better than anything old Bernie did in F1.

Did you get a look at the driver? It could have been Edd_Samba_S, his is back on the road I think. This is the only picture I have, and quite possibly the worst image I have ever posted:

Well people say you don't get anything for nothing these days, firstly I wanted the strip that sits under the headlamp on the saph painted (The one so I can put my headlamp wipers back on as I've managed to get the bits i need that broke) popped to the bodyshop and he laughed when I asked him how much, he couldn't charge me to do that so left it with him, second I had an annoying slight blow from the front join (the type you can only hear if you pull next to a wall) since I changed my engine, sealing it didnt work so went for my yearly exhaust check earlier and mentioned it to him admitting i caused it, he proceeded to take it off and sort it and put a new clamp on, asked him how much and again no charge.

You need to furnish these people with cakes/beer to show your appreciation.

To be fair, I think most li-ion batteries these days come from China. In some ways, they're starting to lead the world when it comes to EV tech.

@Joe n M'Coli:  It was the spit of Ed's and that was my first thought.  Number plate and the driver not looking anything like Ed made me realise there must be two metallic brown Monzas in the world.  Two!
