This was in today's mail and made me grin broadly.

Two original Weber overhaul kits for the Tagora V6 Weber carbs.

The correct ones for the Talbot, not the Porsche 911 stuff where 90% of the parts don't fit.

Pure Unobtainium, these boxes are sexy, aren't they?

Had a bit of a giggle today at two naffed off looking PCSOs who were manning a "Community Speed Watch" thing. I think the plan was for one of them to record speeds past the local primary school and for the other to flag speeders down and tell them off. Problem was that on monday half the road got dug up by the water board and there are temporary lights and also the church opposite the school was doing a funeral so nothing was moving at more than walking pace along the whole road!

My sister got stopped a couple of weeks back, the police were pulling random cars into a school car-park and doing walk around check-overs (light, tyres, washers, etc.) she had no worries with that being very fastidious about maintenance. They then decided to do an eyesight check and asked her to read the numbers off the back of a parked car. She did, to their confusion; having a similar pedantic/autistic streak to me, she read the model number off the back of the car rather than the registration plate. After a bit of "That's not right" (not something to say to my sister, who will argue with her shadow) they did eventually persuade her to read the registration number (and letters).

Two cars in for MoT this week. Mrs SL's Auris was never going to be much cause for concern, but the Lexus is a different kettle of fish. After an initial fail, it's legal for another year's wafting:

I think I'll miss the noisy exhaust though. Might spend some money on new tyres and perhaps even a cam belt change now. For a car with dubious history that was bought from a banger racer it's doing alright....

Thanks to Garycox and Chompy I now have roof bars for the Rover.  Happy days!

Recently picked this up for nothing. Bit of work with some old grease jamming the moving bits up later and I'm rockin' out to some proper musical shite (think Mantovani's finest musical scores from movies you've never heard of)

It's not even the oldest part of my hi-fi... also the model number seems suitable for old Rovers and such

Just been watching a chinook helicopter circling over my work, i love the sound of them, they often come to the surrounding area to do manoeuvres.post-4828-0-84936400-1454673293_thumb.jpg

Did you watch the BBC series that followed the Red Arrows for a year?

They pretty much devoted 1 show to the Chinook display team and made for some good watching

Some of the manoeuvres top the 5g limit on the airframe if the pilot is a bit "enthusiastic " which then forces a landing to switch it off and on again to reset the ecu's......

One came over here yesterday. Could only hear it, said to the wife what it was, she called me a sad shite when we finally saw it :-)

Spent the afternoon van driving and saw a maroon Maxi in Stourbridge (the organist?), followed by a giffer in a Metro then saw another giffer driving a yellow Viva HC in Kidderminster. Big bonus was not getting caught up in the huge traffic jams that the radio was telling me were snarling up most of the West Midlands due to OMGM5FUCKED etc.

House move gone great. Trouble was receiving keys on same day of having to depart shared house so massive rush. No signal there so cant get online much. Free washer, bed, sofa, wardrobes and fridge freezer helped alot as well as someone buying carpets for lounge and bedroom. Managed to buy a cheap cooker too. Having van with large roof rack and trailer helped massively.

...and not having a wall outside to fall over is a bonus

i'll get my coat :anon:

If you've toyed with an autogas conversion but had reservations heres a hidden bonus. In Corby next to where British Oxygen used to be is a timber merchant who have a couple of LPG pumps round the back of their office. They were womanned today by a beautiful East European girl. She wasn't bothered by the P4's filler (under the bumper so you have to kneel down) and for 33 litres relieved me of 18 quid wishing me a good weakend. Its started.

Odd that, on the same day in Kidderminster I saw a Blue Viva HC estate which I snapped a pic of (will appear in my next batch of spotted shite) was the Maroon Maxi a Maxi '2'? As I think it is a neighbour of the_organist, I have a picture of it.

How long did it take you to get out of the M5 jam? A mate of mine was stuck there for hours.
