This made me grin today. In looking fir something else on the computer at work I came across about 100 BL standards from the 1970s to 1990s which someone had scanned in at some point. Screenshot_20240917-182136_SamsungNotes.jpg.e1098b398271a975fea0ac4a3db8ad35.jpg

This is typical.

An awful lot of the standards I receive for comparison to the testing we do are remarkably similar 40+years on. This is not a fast-moving area.

It's a bit of a pisser for some, and only very recently did I realise how lucky I was to sneak in on the "early" student loan system. Took full loans for four years at uni, £25/30k?

Even including nearly a decade not earning enough to meet the repayment threshold, I finished paying it off last year.

Mates of mine a few years younger went to the same universities, did the same courses, now owe £30-40k with no realistic prospect of ever paying it off.

It does get written off eventually

Also the later loan system has a higher repayment threshold, so people earning less will probably pay less overall if they're on that system

 On Facebook I Just saw pictures of a Tata passenger estate car with the Mercedes Benz front end. It vaguely looks like a Merc estate from the side. In the UK we were perhaps more familiar with the "Loadbeta" pick up truck.

Someone commented "When you order a MB S124 on Temu" . Make me laugh.

Hurricane and Spitfire flying over my house in a very tight formation this afternoon.  Delightful.

Fairly sure no one else has this over here. I’m really hoping to make it to a Zastava meet to see reactions (that are probably going to be no one in his/her right mind noticing or caring)

Oooh I have one of those hats too!!

If you're going to get off your head on drugs and attempt to steal from a car in broad daylight, check the owner isn't a shirtless fat bloke first.....

Amazingly the police turned up before anyone got run over with the cars just driving past Mr. Squished.

A big win as I was diagnosed with leukemia one year ago and am still here due to development of TKIs. Thankyou to all involved with that.

The bigger win  today is after 2 days of doing it in 10 minute bursts, I have changed the Ovlov  rear pads, which is my first spannering in a year. (Never thought I would ever do any again).

The biggest win today is saving the £300 plus  quid quoted by volvo  for the job which I intend to spend part of on a very good celebration bottle of Vin.

Cheers everyone :)

I wasn't alone in thinking in might be subterranean, and had no clue of where it is and the water table in the area. Have you been in to have a look?

Maybe that's the trick - you march in to put them right about their inaccurate signage, then stumble out forty minutes later having somehow been talked into ordering a large oak-effect dining table and twelve faux-leather chairs, which you already know are never going to fit into your terrace.

Marketing managers. A dangerous breed.

Had to go down to Middlesbrough this evening which was as shite as ever and had a truly awful meal out

anyway just walking back to the car I heard an alarm

thought I’d better investigate just incase, ended up walking almost a mile to find a large upholstery shop with the alarm going off

oh dear, had a quick look round and couldn’t see anything so checked their Facebook and managed to find a link to WhatsApp so sent them a message

actually got a response and it’s nice to be thanked

thats my good deed of the day

just had my mother have a go at me for that

i'm sorry, but whenever i hear an alarm going off i always go out to investigate

it paid off once and i will continue to do it, because at the end of the day a moment of my time to at least check on someones property and try and let them know is worth it to me

Colonsay looks pretty stunning today - could not have asked for better weather. Even the ground under foot was mainly dry and easily traversed.

113% would recommend!
