Have bought a fault code reader and changed my first ever egr on the modern and it has saved me a lot of money.

Which I now can use on the old cars.

Part of me feels embarrassed for whoever posted this and trusted Facebook to translate from French.

But another part says serves them right for not posting in English on a UK site.

Don't know if this is a grump or an anti-grump.

Was shopping on Monday and bought a few things. Went to buy something else and found my wallet was missing from my outside  jacket pocket. Went back the shop I was last in but it wasn't there.

- Boo  : (     Blocked my bank card online via my phone. Intended registering the loss with the police station in the morning.

- Tuesday morning I found that someone had found my address from my driving license and posted my wallet through my letter box.

- Yaay  : )

- Opened it to find they had taken  £190 in cash , my bank card, and bizarrely my electricity PAYG card. My driving license was still there.

Don't know what to make of it.

Am glad they left my driving license as it's the only photo ID I have and I need it to enrol in my next college course very soon and  then apply for course Bursary funding

God knows how long it would have taken DVLA to issue a replacement.

Maybe they intend paying my electricity for me. Here's hoping . . .

The person who found it and dropped it through your letterbox is most likely not the original/thief person? That one dumped it, your Good Samaritan found it and dropped it into your gaff??

My notes stay in my back pocket, i'll know if anything's being lifted there (proved twice). Did you leave wallet in store or maybe fell out?

That did cross my mind but I'll never know. Have found purses and wallets in shops and in the street before. Always always hand them in intact,  check contents for any contact details.

I last remember it being on the corner of the shop counter but I was putting stuff into a rucksack and there was a queue. I have mobility problems with sense of balance at the moment and was going as fast as I could. I may have left without it or it may have dropped out of my pocket when I checked my phone.

Not life changing but I rather it hadn't happened.

It wasn't like a pick-pocket thief scenario, just my own carelessness. Lesson learned.

At the end of a lot of overtime and saving we now have her dream porch and downstairs bathroom. A lot of late nights and Saturdays that represents.

The final touch was the only bit I cared about. A proper driveway. The best moment was delayed a few days by her car splitting its 17 year old header tank but tonight after mending and bleeding (and washing all the cars) I finally got my moment. Well chuffed.

Someone still stole and took advantage though.

Absolutely but there's nothing I can do about it. Hopefully the bank has a system where if there's a cash machine request using a stolen card then it would be recognised and captured on CCTV. More worrying right at the time was that they had my bank card number and the 3-digit code on the back so for a short period could order stuff online. Or just swipe the card at any checkout and get free stuff at my expense. Moment of panic, but again, CCTV is your friend. Card was blocked within an hour though and I can pay for anthing myself online again  when new card arrives in a few days. My bank office checked my balance and paid out enough cash to keep me going.

An avoidable siuation but life goes on.

The £190 in cash is written off in my mind already.

But what a shitty thing to do to someone.

When you set about to live honest it's always a let down that some folk are snide and underhand. Disappointing but unfortunately that's how life is.
