What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

My daughter and I were fitting some plastic boards into the rear of her company XC90 last weekend, needed to slide coffins in for transportation, and corpses from hospitals and other funeral directors.

In the process she discovered a third row of seats that nobody knew were there.

The Dutton amphibian.  Only seen one, I think it was a Dutton.  Cruising around Whitby harbour.  My dad, worked at the shipyard there, was having to do something with it and was quite impressed.

Would have been early sixties.

Your story is better than mine, mine is "looking at pictures of my own car online" yours is "outfitting a corpsemobile"

I went to Mull last month and saw this parked outside the Western Isles Hotel in Tobermoray.

That's the one! Excellent.

I saw it near Carlisle so he had a way to go.

But what's this...

Rear facing child seats!! Bonus!

Utterly useless as a childless bloke in his 20s, but when I was small dad had a Renault Savannah estate with third row seats and I used to love sitting in them for some reason.

Once I've taken the wheels out of the boot I'll unfold the seats and see if my lanky arse will fit in them.

Sure enough, there they are!

Do I fit in them?

Not in the slightest.

Fair play to the DVLA, that's good service

It is my v70s 26th birthday today, how exciting! I should have got it a card. Instead I have interrogated the manual pouch to try and figure out the original dealer. Seems to have been Evans Halshaw, then sold by Fords of Winsford for £10k in 2001 to a lady called Allison, who's address I now have because somehow the warranty slip is still with the car 8 keepers later.

I have two Quora pages open, one in English and the other in Swedish.  Also have DeepL (translator) active on the laptop, in the background, pops up an icon whenever there is text or I am typing and offers to translate.

I don't know if DeepL is responsible but this has never happened previously.

I was reading through the English pages and suddenly saw briefly Swedish text displayed that changed to English, then recognised the next answer as one that I had read in Swedish this morning, suddenly change to English.  All the subsequent ones had Swedish authors but changed to English.

Most odd.

This should really be a grin, but it's more of a surprise.

I took my SLK in for an MOT this morning,I'd done no preparation & wasn't expecting it to pass.I was almost hoping it didn't,as the roof has stopped working,& there's a strange noise coming from the top of the engine.

I'd seen a possible replacement on Gumtree,& was going to message the seller when I got home

However,it only went & passed, with a couple of advisories for headlight lenses & a corroded exhaust.

I guess I'll be keeping it then 🤨
