Currently in Gaborone, Botswana where they've just installed new traffic lights and said to hell with the old way of doing things.  Let's modernise and have a tiny white landscape rectangle for Red; a tiny white dot for Amber; and a tiny white portrait rectangle for Green.  Simple, right?  Good job Gaborone City council.   May include LandCruiser content.

This morning, after owning it for over 4 years, our living room television proudly announced it had downloaded a system update.

Has it taken it 4 years to download it  or has it just realised that it should have downloaded it ages ago. Who knows.

And now tonight you can sit down for a nice night infront of the TV and find out all the things the update has changed/moved/broken/killed...

(my old 4g network box pulled an update down that nuked several handy techie screens and api's, was the main reason 7 months later I switched to fttp and binned it off, the customer service person who asked 'why I was leaving' stopped listening after the first 2 minutes I could tell 😂 Was a quick cancellation after that...

I've had a bit of a rollercoaster ride of a day today. Early on, I got an email from my gas and electricity provider saying my monthly bill would be going from £165 to £80. Hooray!

This seemed odd, so I logged into my account to submit a meter reading and make sure it was ok. I was slightly* startled to see that I owed them £3,917.83. Booo!

I gave them a ring to explain that I thought that something was possibly not quite right and that I didn't think I owed quite that much. A helpful man agreed that it didn't seem quite right, and after looking at it, found and fixed the issue, but that he couldn't sort it out properly and needed to escalate it to the billing team. But that rest assured they'd not be kicking my door down and taking the telly away. Hooray!

I've gone into the account again just now to see that the balance has gone from -£3,917.83 to +£3040.62 and I'm now having to try VERY HARD not to click on the button to withdraw the credit balance before they notice and properly fix whatever is wrong! I'm quite proud that I have had my domestic fuel supply account change by almost £7,000 in 12 hours, to my (as of right now) benefit!

It'll still be as slow as arseholes 😂

I run hacked sound drivers on my pc. Not long after getting them to work which took countless hours, windows updated, and immediately broke them again.

I always make sure I vet updates now.

Buy a used Roller and if they get cranky about too much money in your favor tell 'em to come and get it. Lots more fun to have the power company repo a Rolls than just shuffle some numbers!

Houseguest told me that she has heard there's a good film about Napoleon that she'd like to see. I replied that I'd find it.

We have just watched Napoleon Dynamite. Wasn't the film she expected

I don't do Farcebook.

Was it good?

Summary:

Footballer kicks ball. Can't be sure if it's over the goal line so the would-be scorer claims it's a goal in hope. Replay shows it didn't quite cross the line. Scottish commentator suggests that English people are cheats and that's why this footballer from England claimed the goal

You're not missing much. Just a bit of light, tribalistic prejudice

Botswana again.  A pal has printed up some name badges for a local safari company.  Check out the guide's name:

What percentage of drivers are colour blind? Seems like something that should have become the norm years ago. My dad admitted that he often had to guess if he couldn't see whether it was the  top or bottom light lit.

Rectangles sure, but they could still be red or green without detriment to the colour blind, no?

Never ever seen the dog shift so fast before , one second on the step in the sun . the next at the top of the garden on the hunt ...

a mouse had appeared and he was after it .

years of breeding had kicked in and this Jack was made up . it certainly gave the dog a lift doing his thing ..

however the mouse got away ..

I’m colour blind but have never had a problem with traffic lights, and no I don’t just whizz through oblivious.
