Grade B camping shite appeared in the campsite earlier too!

There's a C reg vw van elsewhere the kids and my mum got excited about, but it looks fucking grim compared to the fiat

Range rover fitted with the worst wheels I've ever seen , I can't imagine the driver has any fillings left in their teeth , has it even got tyres on it or is it rubber wrapped round like a cartwheel

Fire alarm went off. Didn't know if it was real or accident. Turned out to be accident, which was fortunate as I was in the sauna at the time.

What's the story with this being badged Wolesley 1000?

BTW interested to know if you have had trouble getting an MOT with those wheels, I was refused this 1275gt even being tested (in the 1980s) as the wheels stuck out too much...

Mini arch trims/extenders were a period accessory. Maybe Mr Hopkirk or the b&g one. Sold loads, back in the day

Awesome, but can you explain the badgeing?

As mentioned above, this was a South African built car that used the Wolseley Hornet front and a standard Mini rear.

They also made another odd ball, the Mini Mk3, that had the Mini front and the Wolseley rear.

In South Africa in the mid to late sixties they wanted an upmarket Mini so decided to put the Wolseley Nose on a Mini and it became the W1000! They came as a CKD kit from the UK to SA, they made only 350 or so, mine is 247. Believed to be only 1 or 2 in the UK mine arrived in 2019 to a so called specialist in the UK. Long story short the only thing left in the running gear from his work is the gearbox, everything else was fucked caused by a bearing being missed on the crank that destroyed it all. Spec as follows:

1043cc Dave Walker Block (sourced from an awesome member from this Parish), Oselli head with 30mm inlet and exhaust valves, Piper 255 Cam, Straight Cut Box (sounds like a Messerschmitt, flat top pistons, SU38 and a lot more,

facebook suggested this picture to me, and had to share it here, because if its not someone on here's doing, I am sure someone here would at least be able to identify what the car was/axle is from LOL

Just having a look at 1977 on Wikipedia

70% inflation over 3 years

40,000 tool makers on strike at Longbridge,  is that right , I doubt there's any companies today that employ 40,000 people

VW starts to make a dent , no indication how much the germans will come to dominate the UK car market

"cheapest plastic shite imaginable" sounds like most of the contemporary population of Auchinleck these days too.

The working mens club certainly looks cosy and inviting:

I'd love to know how a random cheap ornament from this place ended up being sold at a village fete in Edensor (mega posh, tiny little village next to chatsworth house in Derbyshire)

Does Edensor have any coal mining heritage? Auchinleck is deep in the Ayrshire coal field.

Did Edensor have a Boys' Brigade company - Cumnock & Auchinleck did - now that's posh
