Vorwerk!

I didn't imagine they would still exist.

My parents bought a Vorwerk Vactrik in the mid sixties.  The epitome of vacuum cleaner shite.

Still very much going. Their latest "home cleaning system" costs nearly 3 grand... I wait until their 10 years old and fucked and buy the whole shebang for £20...

Matey came!

And now he's gone. I'm going to have a beer and a fag, then maybe another beer and start putting it all away again!

Seems their a bit cheaper than I remember. a mere £1.2k for the full corded kit, minus many optional tools

v1.thumb.JPG.aae56bd1df99664bdd4fed5742dc706d.JPG

Or £800 for their cordless cleaner that has no hose, can only be used on floors...

Not even I can ever man maths myself one

Yep. My 1987 VK-121 doesn't even stand up! I think Vorwerk invented that, ignoring all that came before of course

Just been sent some pics of the wedding we played a couple of weeks back. Like this one of us between the bride and bridesmaid.

Gigs like that were so much fun. Wish I was still playing.

Why is the bridesmaid's head on backwards?

Remember my folks used to have a Hoover cylinder cleaner...bright orange...grill on the top and a little rectangular bag full indicator that fascinated me as a toddler.  Any ideas what it was?

It was replaced by a Goblin Rio 1200 - which I still have and is still used as my garage vacuum.

Need to get some more bags for it though...and the filter is is probably a few years overdue a change.  Resilient little bigger though, my folks definitely didn't give it an easy life even before I inherited it.

Would be a Hoover Freedom. Quite rare now.

2nd gen rio bags are on ebay, as are filters although the filter pops off the motor housing and will go through the wash quite well I'd imagine, maybe wash it by hand first to get the main crap off then fling it in the machine when you next do a wash

Picked up some Metal Filler from Toolstation to repair a corrugated roof. Fantastic stuff this is, dries ultra quick and hard as nails. They also do a VHT one, looks like useful stuff for £6.

Parked next to this at Newcastle quayside today.

Two turbo bricks together. The red one's only a year older as well.

I also had a bit sport on with a 2004 v70 d5 on the way back through Byker. Young lad with a piston heads badge on the back.

Just went for a spin in the Rover Asbo to Lidl and some jumped up oik in a 16 plate Aygo sports thing is trying to race me. He didn't fair too well against my 20 yr old Gti.

I forgot how much fun the Asbo is when you give it the beans. Must treat it to a spit and polish for good behaviour.

Grin?

As I 'may' have a visit from Autoshite 'Royalty' at some point in the not to distant future I thought I'd better make a start on the epic clean up of the hovel so I dusted.

Well, I say 'dusted' but I mean re-distributed some dog hair around, but only on the tv stand and the coffee table. Don't want to over do things do you?

There's a lad lives a few doors down the road from me has a Rover 25 (currently not MOT'd) and an MX5 with a homebuilt super charger conversion.

He was struggling with starting the MX5 today, seems like a lazy alternator leading to a weak battery. I gave him a jump start and offered the loan of my trickle charger. It's nice to be able to help a fellow home tinkerer in their time of need.

I was at the funeral of Roger Bradford a few years ago - he is bound to have been known by some on here.

The lady giving the eulogy was a close friend so knew him well, mentioned his cleaning regime.  Which was minimal.

Yesterday I discovered "The Outlaws" on iPlayer. Absolutely amazing. I worked on such an estate about 20 years ago. Similar shit day in, day out.

Gave me a smile :)
