it seems to be one of the few games that have lasted over every type of gaming hardware ever produced https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_(video_game)

If/when I find the disks I'll send you a copy.

Just makes me smile that there are still things like this Focus estate still going, the perfect car for not giving a toss about denting it or the interior being treated like a skip. Run it into the ground, rinse and repeat. This would be on my list for sure.

Having a bit of a tidy up/clear out and I found my old IBM ThinkPad laptop, plugged it in and it still works happily running Windows XP. Tons of floppy disks too.

No idea at all what to do with it as it is just not required but a nice rediscovery.

Yey! T20 or t40 series? XP is still useable, you just need the right browser! Or as said, retro gaming!

CPU-Z is a program I like to use that provides detailed information of a computers CPU :) (the CPU of a computer is like the engine in a car)

Aye Eddie, as much of a shock as it will be to a Scotch but it is possible to own veg & store it in a fridge alongside the bacon & potato cakes.

That was always the problem, even when new some were better than others.

I think that still applies today. There's always one or two cars from each batch that were in the Monday morning or Friday afternoon build

I saw something once that made me grin. It was a Mercedes w123 towing an 04 plate LDV Maxus.

That was just about the greatest thing I have ever seen.

Sunday, the bloody oven gave up. After a scour of the net, problem identified and part ordered on Amazon.

Turns out I thought I had ordered it but hadn’t. So now won’t be here until some time next week. Wife went out of town (San Diego) so Roobarb jnr and I didn’t mind too much (an excuse for a week of junk food). :D

Delivery pizza, cheesy poofs and milk by sunset. Every cloud and all that (while the cats away at least).

Then Monday the hot water heater died. Roobarb jnr didn’t mind until he had to wash in a bowl of kettle boiled water - then repeat all week.

I couldn’t be in for a repair person due to work and single parenting for the week.

Today the central heating went off sometime during the night. Only have the gas fire in the living room working right now... can’t even do the open oven door trick or heat up in the shower.

This is the weather forecast as of Friday morning

Hoping the heating engineer can make it here before the 8” of snow arrives...

Now the happy thread:

Haz heat :D

Extra warm too to make up for the icicles from yesterday.

Last night the mrs got pissed and offered to take me out for a curry today.

She stayed true to her word, and she drove too. I had shitloads of it, chilli pork starter, loads of tandoori meats etc etc and she did the same, plus a load of kathmandu stuff - mutton curry etc, 5 hours later I can still barely move.

I have all the leftovers to take to work tomorrow for my lunch and I look forward to totally stinking the place out, I can't wait to fuck two garlic naans and a full tray of various mixed leftover meat into my face while all the other losers eat their lentil crisps and mugshots

It's grim in The midlands

Not as grim as the North.

And long may it remain grim in the minds of the southerners

Grim in the Midlands and the North? Has anyone ever been to Staines or Guildford? Or Portsmouth or Southampton for that matter, or London, Maidenhead, etc etc etc And they look at a speed bump and think, fuck that’s high I need a 4x4. Nah, the world doesn’t start until you hit the Midlands then just gets better.

Find a copy of Elite & have hours of fun.

I think I've got a PC copy somewhere if you want...

If it will run it then Oolite is open source Elite but with many many more time wasting possibilities. I had to stop playing as it was taking far too much time.

Getting on the ferry the other day and watching the couple in front of us prep their car. The fella asked for my help with the headlamp adjusters so I did, but I was back in my car before they tried fitting the GB plate.

It would not stick no matter what they did: clean the bootlid, press it on really hard...

Audis are made of aluminium, aren't they?

Went for a mooch around Faversham on Saturday and while on the way to Standard Quay saw this:

The Midlands are what southerners think is the north, hence they are hideously grim to scare southerners back down to their overcrowded & overpriced hell holes before they get to the nice parts of the UK.
