I've been tinkering with cars a bit for the first time in a few years recently and its been a lot of fun.

The work on the house is pretty much done, Imp jr is 3 next week and is helping with the cars and I am actually getting stuff done.

Its really good fun and I'm getting my mojo back after a long time.

Hopefully the Visa will be tested for the first time since Feb 2015 in the next few days, the GT6 is running and just needs a UJ to be road legal* and I have money saved to pay someone else to paint the Imp.

Don't want to temp fate but I'm beginning to enjoy cars again for the first time in a long time.

Watch the Shaguar shits itself tomorrow after writing all this.

Walked dog with my son, he and the dog played in the woods and stream, then we came back and had a BBQ, feel asleep sat on sofa for an hour while kids and OH watched TV.

Best fathers Day in a couple of years.

Not a bad day at all the cars were pretty much the same ones I see there every year but a good chance to catch up with folks I don't see often

I fix battery boost packs at work. Proper ones, not this maplins bollocks - they're used to start buses because the fleet operators won't buy decent batteries for the buses.

Anyway, a boost pack came in a few weeks ago. I couldn't fault it at all, the batteries were good as new, master switches and wiring was all perfect but the customer insisted it wouldn't start a bus. I wanted to send it back as it was FOC, but my bosses don't like doing that and won't argue with a customer who says something doesn't work, so they offered to belt and braces it with a new pair of batteries and a new master switch, something like £450-500 job.

Customer obliged, so I did the work and it went out to them.

A few days later, we got a phone call:

"It's still no good!!"

I got them to send the pack back in, along with the leads they were using to try and start 20 year old dennis darts that had been stood for 2 weeks with batteries that were shagged to start with

They were a pair of "STREETWIZE" jump leads, the wire was probably 2.5mm², some maniac had folded it over the wire enough times to somewhat make it fit into a 175 amp anderson connector which has an 8mm dia hole. They'd crimped it by just hammering the whole terminal flat (the ones on the bench are 50 amp ones from another job)

I don't know why I'm asking this but if it's up at £100 and even though it didn't sell why would you offer even less than half?

I mean go down a bit then expect to come up a bit but £35??

It's the fact that the pointless square number plate almost completely obscures the n/s driving light that has me scratching my head.

And it's not like there's some sort of massive fuck-off oil cooler mounted front and centre to necessitate such a thing...

VERDICT: 1/10 SC3N3 TWAT

Sitting here just metres away from the social melting pot that is the EU...... I've overheard a typical 50ish upper middle class bitch moaning about the racism entrenched in the local regimes, the utter disregard the 'system' has for poor white folk being molested, attacked and ripped off by muslims. How she personally is paying for all these asylum seekers, due to her 'career' as an interpreter on a huge tax deal contract they all have (she loudly mentioned a mates name so I know her dept!) and bitching about her mum leaving all of her estate to 'so called' charities....... she is a nightmare of skin and bones.

Grin - old guy got up, went over - "Madam, you are the poorest excuse for a child of your departed mother and sorriest human being I have ever had the misfortune to be forced to listen to in my entire life. I can only think I would've disowned you a long time earlier" and walks off....... well done that man

She's now onto 'negative energy' associated with her dead parents things and 'spiritual cleansing' required...... my laughter has now seriously pissed her off I think.........

Fuck these new MoT rules - a mate’s Corsa D failed the test because the EML is on (lambda sensor) yet it still pissed the emissions test

Code reader -> light off -> pass -> light back on half a mile up the road

This will be the Blingo in December, unless I fork out for a completely new EGR valve.

When I was at secondary school there were A stream kids, the clever  ones who probably wore a bowtie to the youthclub disco. The B stream, average kids who were either good at sport (not me) or clowned around in class (me). Then there were the C streamers who weren't allowed to do science lessons and did rural studies instead. This meant mucking about in the vegetable plot, tending the chickens and smoking in the greenhouse.

Today  a new customer came in to work. I remember my Saturday job as a teenager was ,partly, serving petrol and this chap had an account. I went to school with his son but didn't mix as we were in a different "stream". At the time this chap and his family lived in a big house with an outdoor swimming pool and always drove big newish cars.He still lives there and we got chatting when he came to collect the car. After a while he did vaguely recognise me from serving petrol.I told him I was at school with his boy but he must have been in the A stream as we didn't share a single class.I presumed 35 years ago that as the father seemed successful the kid must be bright. Not a bit of it." A stream, that's news to me.The boy was bloody thick and did nothing at school" said the father.

Ah, the illusion of success breeds success.

Popped into Halfrauds on the way home from work to enquire about a new rear wheel for my bike (£100+, FRO) and they had some ex-display 5 1/4" speakers on sale for 12 quid.  So I bought them, and have just fitted them to the 205 to replace the fucked originals.  Bugger me does it sound better!

I now have to sort the rears, but that entails taking the C-pillar panels off so will have to wait a bit.  For now I've just cranked the fader all the way to the front.

Got an interview on Wednesday.

Just been asked to be my best friend's best man.

...and I've paid up for a roffle for a car I don't even fit in.

If these come in threes, God plays with loaded dice.
