The first thought that crossed my mind was DPF/EGR deletion, but then I learned DVSA will fine you £2500 if you get pulled in for one of their onceovers. Not worth the risk IMHO. If, as I suspect, this van is beyond redemption, then I'll definitely go back to a Euro 5 and just pay the CAZ/ULEZ as I go. Have my eye on a nice little 2013 Fiestavan which does OMGMPG of around 87 (1.6 PSA lump). Most of the work I do is small stuff, so a Doblo is probably too big, bizarre as that may seem

I got pulled over for an inspection by VOSA recently, coming off the A500 for the M6 at J16, they were directing vans into the abnormal load area on the island. Tyres and lights checked, a quick walk round the van, but nothing else, I thought they'd dip the tank, but I was stopped for about two minutes, wished a safe journey and sent on my way.

If it can't be fixed it sounds a perfect fit for WBAC disposal and picking up the Fiesta. Hopefully you won't take a bath on it mate.

The garage I use are pretty clued-up on DPF issues and have a huge cleaning chamber, they're in Derby, so not a million miles away from you, happy to pass on the details if you want them - fully understand if you're sick of it though and just want rid.

When I changed the front subframe I tied to replace anything that was suddenly easily accessible..... The starter had always felt a bit lazy so I ordered a Bosh item from eBay.... Exactly what you got and far too big!

I got a refund, sent the part back and it turned up again a few weeks later after being refused by the seller 😂. Currently sat on a shelf in the garage. No idea which model it actually fits.

They've not asked for it back so I'm going to do a bit of researching to find out what it does fit and sell it on Marketplace. I'll let you know!

Good to know. But yeah, no more expensive repairs on this one. Fix the oil leak (if possible) and probably punt it on at a massive loss, as is the Autoshite way. TBF, the DPF issue was the easiest to fix (Jimmy O'Riley off of the Youtube is my go to).

Cheers I got one on ebay. I tend to avoid Autodoc as their delivery times are a bit hit and miss.

Got my new telly

It's definitely a nicer display than the old one even just watching 1080p stuff

Testing it with the Restless Natives Blu-ray then. Why not!

I was there last year, going out for a walk on the berwyn range. I’m sure someone will take it on as it’s the only place for miles.

I have just bought a box of old fashioned motoring correspondence from a disused garage.

This caught my eye as one of the items. From the heyday of Jaguar - the 'Brown's Lane Coventry' years. Even the correspondence was stylish.

More miscellaneous correspondence. Suffice to say RVE909 no longer exists. These early monocoque bodies by Pressed Steel were riddled with rust traps. Probably a MK1 - which in 3.4 litre form was a blisteringly quick car for the era.

Have you had a look at the Panmure Road address on Streetview? Interesting car on the driveway, becoming gradually overgrown.

Brook Bond Picture Cards in with the cache of material.

Prescience of the coming future - streamlining, front and four wheel drive. 1968. The cards came in packets of tea.

Just looking at the BL spec 22. On my work laptop.   This was a group of specs called Group 22 Non-Metallic Materiel Specs.

There seems to be about 100 different ones.

They include specs for all fluids used from oil to antifreeze.

There is one for "defining the performance requirements of a decorative finish on plastics where the decorative treatment is applied to the viewed face if the component, and the only protection that may be afforded to the decoration is a clear lacquer.

There's one for conductive seam sealer

One for carpets.

Defining the requirements for bonding trim materials using heat.

I can't find the one which relates to pipes and hoses as the file titles are typically 22we01 and I don't have a key.

Imagine ford sending that type of letter out when the early ecoboosts started exploding 😂

I imagine changing the split/perished hose wouldn't be as easy as it was in 1984 though

That's some amazing stuff there. I'm not usually interested in letters etc... but if ever you want to move them.....

My A6 passed it’s MOT this morning. Not bad for an ex taxi. Even the tester mentioned how clean it was for 218k miles. Service history is as thick as the bible.

For about 6 weeks I’ve had bad hives on and off, and I mean -really- bad hives. All went tits up a couple of Sundays ago, face swelled and then my eye swelled shut too. Docs gave me some steroids for it, and I may have forgot to mention I had Gilbert’s Syndrome, so these tablets made me unwell and I ended up in hospital with this allergy.
Immunologist thinks a food allergy and I need to keep a food diary.
So far, the common denominator is egg. I fucking love egg. Weird as this is I’m actually quite down about the fact I’ve got to stop eating a food I really like. Fingers crossed it isn’t mind, but sadly, it looks likely.

I realise there’s bigger problems out there but it’s what’s bothering me right now.

TL;DR:

I like eggs. My body does not.

Sorry for your problem. My dad and sister suffered with hives, it was milk. I hope you get sorted.

@Imhotep I've noticed that eggs affect me too, not as badly as you, but enough to be a problem.

Only thing I've found is that cooking them more, ie hardboiled for 15+ minutes, like they do in schools (or used to) it reduces the effect.

Not sure if it'll work on a case a severe as you tho 😕

This post has confirmed my desire to own a type-writer, and I'm now off to the wonderfully bonkers office supplies company in town to see if they have any (they usually do!).  Even if it gets used four times a year, they are fantastic.

Strangely, the 32 Grove Park address where he lived before has a nice yellow W123 Mercedes parked outside.

I guess that they're all right if you don't actually have to write anything...

I noticed that too, a neat coincidence, but a fairly recent addition unlike the Audi which has been festering away throughout the Streetview era.

Somewhat sad looking at the decline of the Panmure Road house from 2008 to the most recent images with brambles and a broken pane of glass or two.

Got the new starter fitted to the Saab. It spins much much faster than before. I thought it was just a 9-5 thing but it was definitely on the way out, potential FTP averted!

I wanted it fixed because I need a big car for a basketball team run up to Dundee tomorrow.
