Dad’s neighbour has a prime example of low mileage shite to dispose of asking if I wanted it.

IMG_5726.thumb.jpeg.29ad5bee1466d179eb5c2252bb3a1f41.jpeg

I have no idea what it’s worth. All I know is it’s a one owner, 1.4 auto, 78k miles and MoT until June, as I’m best part of 100 miles away and have a kitchen in bits can’t run up there myself today to look at it. Neighbour’s dad passed away and car needs gone.

I am not interested because:

1. Automatic
2. Volkswagen
3. Automatic
4. I don’t fit behind the wheel in these.

But if anyone on here is interested I’ll do an official for sell thread.

That should be £1750 all day, small auto’s are in demand and despite its age it’ll sell well.

Horrid Henry's dad drives a red mk3 Mondeo with off coloured bumpers and parks like an absolute roaster. Just an FYI

bloody annoying they use a torx bit rather than a screw as my trusty hammer operated impact screwdriver has never failed on a brake disc so far. I tried an impact gun but it chewed it in about 1 second . Looking at the new ones in the pad kit I have they are thread locked in too

20250216_131130.thumb.jpg.2672fd96b84b31d46fc4c792107e5a7a.jpg

no option but to drill it out which thankfully didn't take too long. I couldn't get the threaded portion out but seen as the new discs dont match the hole position it didn't matter

Disc was badly warped and one of the pins sticking so that was at least partially contributing to the vibration under braking but I still have some low frequency oscillation for the last few mph when coming to a stop, so could be control arm bushes or maybe reluctor rings which caused something similar on my old 9-5

Washed the Nissan Elgrand today.

Afterwards it became a Nissan "E L G R    N     "

PXL_20250216_133504482.thumb.jpg.d4e076f134329fb4d7b5a231ceb2c3a4.jpg

So I changed it to Nissan "                 "

So as you may have seen from the grumpy thread, the Eos snapped its offside front spring last night while manoeuvring onto a mate's driveway.  It drove home but it's knocking and banging like a good 'un so that's now off the road until I can get it sorted - which will probably be a little while as I'm fecked if I'm going to start fighting VAG suspension in this weather.

Hilariously*, with the Eos broken and the Ampera languishing in a yard somewhere, this has left me with the Merc as my only fully working legal car.  And that really needs a new battery - and it takes an 019 so that's not going to be cheap.  Nothing else in the fleet uses anything that big so I can't even borrow a battery temporarily - the biggest I have is the 096 in the van, everything else is 075 or 063.

I'm probably going to tax the Rover as a backup, but the MOT on that runs out in a few weeks and it's probably going to need a few bits doing after its marathon Euro-roadtrip last September.

The temptation to sack most of them off and get a Dacia Spring on PCP is increasing...

I'm sure if you ask him nicely @Cavcraft could come up with an hilarious* acronym that you could make from the letters for Nissan Elgrand.

Just had confirmation from my sister that the new owners of our parent’s house have moved in and we’re just waiting for the solicitor to complete the final accounts and give us her fee.

Feels really weird. I’ve gone from two parents, to one parent, to no parents and no job, all in the space of two years. This is a ride I’d quite like to get off.

Made it back from the VSCC exmoor trial in the Austin 12/4. Car was perfect, we had to modify the exhaust after we crunched it but otherwise it lived up to its indestructible reputation given what we asked of it..

It always surprises me a bit when people are so surprised where cars like that will go.  Fact is that plenty of places in the countryside that would have probably qualified as a road when that Austin was built.  Bet most supposed off roaders of today wouldn't manage half as well as that Austin presented with the same terrain.

My missus 2003 MkIV Golf passed it's Mot on Saturday at 101k miles. Slight play in a front wheel bearing and a rear caliper binding again so time to splash some cash out on parts.

I lost  both my parents within three years and really want to get rid of their house asap. It’s in the country and wildlife is threatening a takeover.

We've had a valuation but one of my sister’s thinks it’s worth millions because she lives down south and everything is silly money.

Truth is , it’s a small house, dated (typical pensioners have died house to be blunt) and I’d rather get it sold quick before we have to spend serious money on it . It does have a large garden, but it would be classed as poor agricultural land and worth next to nothing and likely to deter as many buyers as it attracts.

On top of that I’ve got to leave heating on to stop and burst pipes and damp taking hold , so it’s costing a fair bit to keep going.

Now the silly bitch has found something on the internet that says beneficiaries can sue executors (me) if they don’t get the best price for a property. The best price to me , is a quick sale anywhere  near the valuation not waiting two or three years for a mug punter to turn up.

And that really needs a new battery - and it takes an 019 so that's not going to be cheap.  Nothing else in the fleet uses anything that big so I can't even borrow a battery temporarily - the biggest I have is the 096 in the van, everything else is 075 or 063.

Will a 075 or 096 fit in the space? Obviously a bit smaller but less of an issue if it's going to be a regular driver at the moment.

Edit: 096 is the same in dimensions apart from width is 7.5cm narrower. So providing the terminal leads are long enough, it may well work.

Presumably you can ask for it to be advertised at her preferred pir in the sky price and then discuss with her when it gets zero interest?

Yes, and then you're covered if she really does try to sue her own brother.

096 might work size wise but it's the cranking amps I'd be more concerned about - an OM642 takes a lot of turning over, especially when it's freezing.

Given the old battery (if it's worn out) CCA will be a lot lower than original, the 096 probably will be much better. I mean if you have it in stock then it's better than a knackered unit.
