Also if anyone is localish and at a loose end tomorrow and fancies seeing 300+ old cars in a field then our first meet of the season is on, I think it's going to be a very busy one!

Looks good. Fantastic colour!

I was driving one of these earlier in the week. It was a 2.0 petrol with the manual 'box, so a very similar setup to the standard GTI hatchback. It went surprisingly well!

That's what this one is - 2-litre with 140ish bhp.  It does indeed GLF, although it's a bit undergeared.

335 is throwing up all sorts of ABS/DSC warnings and saying it’s the right front wheel speed sensor supply so I whipped the wheel off to check the wiring and clean the sensor. No different so ordered a new one, hopefully it’s just that and nothing more.

Whilst I was there I ended up painting the caliper yellow as it was originally lime green when I bought the car, I sprayed them all black, that had worn off to a black with bits of green showing through so thought I’d try something different. Going to drive round with just the one yellow for a while to see if I like it or hate it and then decide whether to do the rest.

I also need to either get new wheels or have these refurbed.

Yellow calipers are inoffensive on blue cars imo

Time to fix the advisory on daughters number 2's Swift today, rear wishbone bush worn, I say advisory, it was a get it done asap mate as its ready to pop out. So armed with a new wishbone time to crack on.

Yep that rear bush is not looking good.

Bush has come away from the arm.

No pics of it finished and attached to the car as it was dark by the time I'd finished, serves me right for not starting it till 6pm.

Needless to say every bolt put up a fight and the bottom ball joint took a good smacking and prying to come off. I really struggled to get the new wishbone in, wouldn't line up at all, then I noticed the driveshaft had popped out the gearbox, no wonder the bugger wouldn't go back properly. A nice big splodge of grease over the drive, this Swift really does like to mark its territory! Once the driveshaft was popped back in it all went back together pretty well.

Just a quick question for you far more knowledgeable folk, should I be looking to repack the inner CV joint with grease or is it a case of 'fuck it, it'll be reet'?

Mate Terry who helped me with the marathon rear wheel bearings on the Forester had his Focus rick up Friday night with smoke pouring from the near side front wheel bearing......

Yesterday was spent undoing bits, twatting other bits and then hoping bits went back on with no 'where the fuck did that come from' bits left on the floor.

No photo's as I'm a twerp

Fitted the charged battery to the E46... I'd brought the spare keys from Belgium this week - it only fired right up.... Final prep for MoT this week.

Everything crossed for that.... Been stored for 4yrs

Tyre in lane 1 of the M56 eastbound at Runcorn.

Made a telephone call to the emergency services.

Left at the clifton turn off. Imagine my surprise when heading towards the mersey gateway I spy a slow moving audi A4 - slow moving beacuse it only has three tyres......

Quick wire brush underneath to attack the surface on the rear suspension I saw starting last year when the new tyres went on. Coating of dinitrol. Nice and shiny now.

New engine mounts fitted to the 145, along with the other two tyres. The existing mounts were pretty collapsed!

The old Michelin tyres were very degraded, can anyone tell me the year they were made?

I went to visit a friend with my son today, and thought it might be a nice day for his first ride in a hydraulic Citroen. Start them young and all that 😅

077 is the date code I think. And pre 2001. Could be 1997 or 1987 I’m not sure yet.

Yesterday as I turned into a junction my dash lit up like a Xmas tree with ABS and DTC warnings. Read the fault and it said right front wheel speed sensor supply - dead sensor so I thought so ordered one and fitted it today.

Lights all still on but the code has now changed to direction of rotation. Can’t work it out. Only fits one way both at the plug and physically in the hole.

Don’t know if perhaps it’s a shit sensor being an Amazon prime special, or if I have another fault. I think these are a magnetic sensor rather than a physical ring like a driveshaft would have, as it’s a front sensor issue so I believe it’s built into the bearing.

Pissed off now as im not sure what to do next.

Are the sensors handed, lefthand/righthand and you got the wrong one?

Nah they’re not sided, that would’ve been way too easy!

Thanks Trigger and all concerned at ECR for putting on an excellent day out!

We made a family trip of it:

My white one, Miss SL in the ex @BorniteIdentity Avensis and her BF in his recently acquired LS400.

This shot was early in the day, by lunchtime the field was completely filled to the very back.
