As long as the chain is quiet you're into a winner. A noisy chain indicates lack of servicing and therefore the overall standard of care.

I heard through the grapevine that Terry's Capri from Minder (SLE 71R) was involved in a fire recently, is this true?

Sadly true.

Do you gain NCB on a classic policy?

I don't with FJ. You also need a "main" policy with them too.

We have our Maxi insured on a classic policy with FJ but no 'main' policy with them. No NCD on it though.

No, although you can keep your existing NCB current on it.

I have Mrs Ruff permission to buy another proper classic but only if it is usable immediately, I have a certain something in mind but haven't found one at the right price yet.

Anyone selling anything up to £3kish (once the fiat sells)

I have two cars insured with FJ but the daily main car is with aviva. You DO need a daily car insured with someone though it doesn’t have to be a modern car. Witness my “daily” being 26 years old.

I’m sure local Arfur Daley @Six-cylinder will have something suitable.  Good luck, I think I’m giving up my Citroen 11BN search as it’s not a sensible time to be spending £10k on something I have no space for and no time to drive.

Those jobs you wish you never started?  Van maintenance, and a bit of paint-prep turns into massive future bill.

Never really achieved anything with this (apart from getting it running and cleaning it, so it went to a new owner. Collected last night after an utterly useless Shipley bloke had failed to collect a couple of days back.

For many years my GS has lain forlorn and forgotten at my parents but I retrieved it today and shoehorned it into my garage which was my lockdown plan coming to fruition (building new workshop/motorcycle storage shed in the garden freeing up the garage).

Remarkably structurally the GS hasn’t deteriorated much further in the 16 year hibernation and getting it solid shouldn’t be too taxing but the doors and bonnet are going to challenge me!

The C6 has been collected.

Many tales of woe may appear on these pages.

It made it home without smoke or flames so I reckon that's a good start.

Lovely C6, you’re braver than me!

The GS started life C-matic but has gained a clutch pedal and manual box at some point which as far as I’m concerned is no bad thing!

Can anyone think who it was who wanted these metro wheel nuts.

They're brand new, have spinning collars and for alloy wheels iirc.

I promised to post them to someone on here but forgot all about it. I've just found them in the back of a drawer.

I don't know who it was but I could do with them for my Reliant Robin with 10" Mini alloys if they do happen to still be available! I'm refurbing the alloys and the nuts are quite rusty, they spoil the look of it!

I have a tin of it in my shed.  Chevronics still have some in stock, at vast expense.  I think the CCC has (or had) some too.

What are the sills like? At least one owner over here has been horrified to find just how frilly they can get....

You only get one go at this life, don't be a "I nearly got a Traction Avant"!

I couldn't for the life of me get any sort of quote returned when I tried to insure the Bluebird on a classic policy. Turns out that if you value it at £1,501, they suddenly drop all objections!

Now, I wonder if there's any way of getting a 20-year old Mondeo on a classic policy...

I managed to on my Cougar with Lancaster and actually it wasn't even twenty years old at the time. I was advised to reconsider its 'true value' by the agent and lo, the policy was approved once I estimated it at circa £2k.  Afterwards he said people think a cheaper value helps with the policy cost, but it really doesn't at all.
