However, the house has no development rights at all, so they need PP for basically everything.

Living in a conservation area, we even have* to get permission to cut trees back. Well, we do cos I'm a stickler for details, other folk change windows, put up small extensions with nay a care in the world, and nothing much happens!

Back down south again after two hundred non stop miles in the Mercedes.  It may* have touched an indicated 90mph up the stockenchurch cutting as a bmw was trying to bully me out of his way in lane 3.

Spent a tenner on a proper wash while I was up in Alnwick so I could take decent For Sale photos of the 307 on the way home, but by the time I got back to the village it already looked like this:

Never fear. When they sell their house, and if the buyer's solicitor is sharp, they'll be having to find paperwork confirming permission was sought quite sharpish!

20 years ago today my mum, dad and I went down to buy this in Southampton, my second earliest memory at just after two years old.

139,050 miles later its still going strong. This car took me to pre-school and I'm now driving it to work every day, hence why it's rather special to me!

(Yes this is an old picture, the car got absolutely pelted with bird shite today ruining any chance of a reasonable photo).

Could it be? Yes it is! Front page of the bbc website.

A man who restored his late grandmother's Mini after rediscovering it has said she would have loved the "fuss" made about her old car.

Daniel Fox, 37, came across the Mini in 2019 - 25 years after he last saw it - while seeking a second-hand car.

The find attracted national media coverage.

Mr Fox, from Great Gransden in Cambridgeshire, worked with a friend for 10 weeks to get it to a condition where it successfully passed its MOT.

A year after buying the car, Mr Fox told the BBC: "It's done 1,000 miles and it passed the MoT on 3 May and next day we did an Ipswich to Felixstowe car rally. Since then it has been all over."

Mr Fox said the car, which had done about 59,000 miles (95,000km) when he bought it, had "survived really well" and he had spent about £600 on repairs.

"At first it would not run - the clutch had seized up but was fixed by hammering on it and the same with the starter," he said.

"It needed new brakes and I changed all the tyres."

Mr Fox's late grandmother Joan died in 1990, when the car was passed on to his sister.

He said he thought his nan "would have loved the fuss and fame", and he was surprised by how his chance discovery had "caught the public imagination".

The car is also loved by his four children - Corey, 15, Fraser, 11, Remy, seven, and Albie, four. He described his wife Catherine as "very understanding".

He said he hoped to keep the car in the condition his grandmother kept it.

"I feel a sense of responsibility towards it," he said. "After a year it still doesn't feel any more real to have found it."

Plenty in the reservoir / wont go into any gear while running. If i try reverse it will grind. Thats about it

Try pumping the clutch pedal several times, a dozen or more; does it then allow you engage gear? if any of those happen it's got a knackered master or slave cylinder that's allowing air in the system, or the adjuster (if cable) is out of whack. Could also be a bulging clutch hydraulic hose.

Sorry if you've posted already but I'm not sure what car you have.

So the pumping didnt do it but i inspected the master and slave cylinders and it looks like the slave is wet/ leaking. The pedal def feels like its different so can be pushing air maybe?

@LightBulbFun

To be fair it was probably only the 2nd time the bulb had ever been used if its been blocked off for decades.

I thought we were running 240v back then, not the new-fangled 230v?

I'm in Dublin, we all know they love a hatch based saloon.

But what's this? 4 Reno Influenzas in 5 minutes? That's who bought them all.

The Mrs watched a program last night on catch-up (think it was on channel 5 at the weekend?). It was 'Husbands from hell'. One of the fellas had hoarded 120 cars!

That'll be the Austin Rover Approach to just in time.

I'm on a train to look at something.
The guard, a young Polish woman, looked at my ticket and said 'why are you going there?!' in a slightly confused/mortified way.

I'm going to die.

Yep that looks like the cause. Check any hose ferrules and joints for leaks, and that the bleed nipple is snugged up before you condemn the slave.

Absolutly. And was going to try bleeding the clutch and then topping up fluid first to see if it comes back. It should do at least temporarily. But at least we know the issue and area now and since its not the clutch it has probably saved the car.

Thanks all. Will keep you updated.

Washed the car today as, miracles of miracles, it WAS NOT FUCKING RAINING! The bright orange thing in the sky was floating about but doing sweet f.a. in the 'warming the world up' stakes. It was a tad fekkin freezing and only a total fuckwit would go out and wash his car... oh.

But, the ghost thieves have been about again: I had a brand new and unopened litre bottle of wash and wax which I intended to use, but, still unopened it was completely empty! More worrying was the simple fact that there is no trace anywhere of any leakage having occured... where could it have gone? Has Chester developed yet another worrying habit?

Went to Halfords, bought another bottle of Triplewax 'wash and shine' I hope this one lasts longer. also bought a clay bar and some 'lube' (oo-eer Missus!) but I don't know if I'm going to bother. Maybe I'll wait until Busman comes round next and get him to do it - he owes me a favour. No idea what he owes me a favour for.... I can try :)

Also cut off my long, flowing locks back to a grade 4 and Hoovered! That makes about 3 times in the last month I have hoovered, don't want to start that lark as new habit!

@xtriple bloody hell hoovering 3 times in a month, your hoover will be getting worn out lol.

Funny you should mention haircuts, I had one yesterday myself taking it back to grade 3.

I've finally bought my own clippers, and with a bit of assistance from Mrs Egg no longer need to make banter in the barbers or chat about holidays with hairdressers. Ideal. Social interaction is way overrated.

It's the wrong time of year to clay a car, it'll be like rubbing a rock over it! Best for a warm day but in the shade!

That looks nice, hope it serves you well.

Now you've got that sorted do you have some breathing room for the concerto, or are you going to sack that off altogether? I know which I'd do.

Good clippers (wahl) cost forty quid and last ten years.

Sack off the guards and just run them over your head once a week.
