Is that the one put up for sale by Friday,or off to scrap?

Not as far as I know, but the seller has been messed about by ebayers!  It has a fresh MOT so is pretty sound in my view.

Spotted in a coffee shop in Leicester today, this is one of the paintings they had on the wall! 471700e5acad2991dfb44a2aee518e67.jpg

Great painting, I mean, why not? It does though, look a Crimewatch picture of a car found abandoned after a robbery.

Showing the Lancer I picked up from here some love recently, put a full set of new tyres on it last week, and two days in my mates unit has sorted out the bodywork.

Previous quality* repair

Pretty happy with how that turned out. Got a mobile mechanic coming out to fit a new sump tomorrow and it's ready for winter. Really good car this, feels well built inside, comfy and quiet. Ride is heavenly given I'm used to  the firmness of the Prelude and the 100hp panda before that. Plus it's handy as fuck for chucking things about in. Could be a long termer.

My breaker bar met its end trying to undo a Suzuki Alto hub nut.

We undone many a fastener together, he heard many a curse word.

Ive had one bend (at the forked bit) n the axle pin fall out; never seem one fail like this before; I use an old ratchet that has stripped all its inner teeth that ive welded solid on its face for extreme 'abuse' - I also have the bigger 'truck socket set', for hub nuts but the welded ratchet is employed when the set isn't to hand...

Between that and my old Prelude, you'll have all the car you'll ever need, and they'll never need replacing either. They'll go forever with care.

BTW I still have a nearly new dizzy cap to fit an F-Series. Let me know if you want it.

Looks well good now fella!

In other news. The Altea I bought now has no heating in it, dodgy cabin fan blower which didn't work so need to get a part ordered off the internet.

The Jaaaaaaaag is coming home on Monday from it's 2 month holiday* in a bloke's shed in the big smoke.

Hopfully there will be no more pretending it's a K series and I can finally have a car again! No more public transport!

Airport security. I forgot about my keys, coins, phone, belt and Timberland boots. Literally everything. Fortunately UK security have a sense of humour shared by me...

My MK2 TT did that the other day. Try taking the motor out and giving it a spin. I did that the other day and it's still working fine. Being VAG, it's probably the exactly same motor and way of removing it (I think it's the same base platform as yours too). Doddle to get out.

Off to the States tomorrow morning.  We're hiring a car to drive from New York (after a few days in New York) to Washington DC via Philadelphia and Annapolis.

Expecting Korean mid-size saloon chod.  Will report back.

If your experience is anything like mine they'll offer you an upgrade to some bASe detroit chod for $10 a day or something; unfortunately in my case they offered a Jeep Patriot, they are hateful pieces of automotive shit and I regretted accepting it as soon as I drove off.

That is still a fine looking automobile & the only Jag I prefer in blue to BRG. 4.2 spanish gearbox with overdrive for my ideal spec.

I got this in the post this morning. Its my series 1 speedometer newly recalibrated by Speedograph Richfield in Nottingham. I've put off having it done for years since fitting Range-Rover diffs and managed with numbers stuck on the glass. Then the needle started flopping about a bit so I felt that after 60 years it might need an overhaul and 2 weeks & £72 later here it is.

Used the BBH today, it does drive very nicely for a 33 year old, Hell, I've been out with women younger than that! :) It does still have a problem or two: the idle is wrong, when started it idles fast then slows (as it should) but only to about 900 rpm. If you turn it off and re-start it, then the idle drops to about 650 rpm and I don't know why. After that restart, it stays at 650 so I think there's something electrical that holds a high idle until the temp goes up but it ain't working.

But, the voltmeter, fuel gauge and temperature gauge all work properly, the temperature even seems to get close to the 'N' mark and stays there :)

Very reasonable, that price.    Speedograph made me an excellent quality handbrake cable on a same-day basis for the Cowley, I must send them my spare speedo....

Houston, we may very well have four fully opening and closing doors at long last...

Right, let's get the old bugger booked in for a test

Does that qualify for Jim Bell's odd coloured panel thread?

After even more fiddling, managed to get the CX's compressor and air horn trumpets to work with each other. We have the sound of Italianate air horns at long last!!

In other news, still waiting for gearbox rebuild start date.

Not exactly earth-shaking news, but I’ve pressed the Elite into service as main car for the weekend.

Beige cars in the shed:

The Lotus is running a treat and handling even better for having plenty of air in the tyres and the NSF wheel bolts tightened up - two of them were very loose. Oops. Lucky I noticed that.

If you let me know the size of the hub nut I will see if I have an impact socket of the correct size then I can come round with the ugga-dugga and hand its arse to it on a plate :)
