What, put the aerial up manually?! Ha! This is a Rover don't you know, one simply does not put the aerial up by himself, he just presses the button, curses the fine* British electrics, then gives up and gets the step ladder!

FTFY.

I'll go for D. they haven't looked at it yet ;-)

It was a combination of B & C.

They thought they'd phoned me yesterday - but they hadn't.

Car is fine - they can't really find an issue. They did a full laser alignment and tested it on the MOT shaker plates as well as an inspection from their MOT tester. He's happy - I'm happy.

I'm impressed it's not snapped in half!

Had a go at polishing the Mil's pogweasel pink starlet today. I've never really polished many cars properly but this was rather therapeutic. It did take 3 hours though.

I only took a couple of pics when I was nearly finished.

In the Isle of Wight now. Will be back here tomorrow aswell which will hopefully give me ample time for some shite spotting.

Well, didn't quite work out as I wanted. Somehow the jobs I had to do on the mainland took twice as long to do as I thought. Didn't get back on the island until 6:30pm, not 3 to 4pm as I thought. So I didn't manage to take the Ma's Micra for a proper wash and scrubs it has cobwebs all over it due to lack use. I did wash it though and the interior got a quick wipe down.

I did spot a Rover 800 here in the island! Spoke to the elderly owner, he said he passed another one some time back son wonder of its the only one on the island. Sadly his car was full of cobwebs and not been cleaned for a while.

There appears to be quite a few potential shiters on the island. There is a bronze Mk2 Cortina parked up with some other shite at a house near the hospital and there an old Zypher in a garden near Cowes. But I never have any time to go out and spot :(

I bet it wheelied well.

Not a million miles from Guyhirn, which sounds like a Master System game (but from past experience is nothing like).

The locals are....er.....

Ordered new front tires for Volvo through blackcircles. £123 fitted Dunlops.

I don't think that's too bad.

I took a lady friends BMW to a local tyre outfit to get a pair of 235/45/17 Avons fitted on the front, £146 booked through Asda. . Fitters job card said "Front", the fronts were bald on the shoulders and the rears had 5mm tread so naturally the halfwit skipped the perfectly good rears and left the bald fronts on..... :?

Gotta love single make/model forums..

I joined a Ford Cougar forum to get info and hopefully buy/sell some Cougar bits.

Posts have to be moderated for new users so I spot up a introductory thread based on my posts on here.

Checked this morning and whilst my thread hasn't gone live yet, a moderator has toddled off to the previous owners thread (which I knew about) to make comments on him selling the car.

I suspect my welcome won't be particularly warm when folk find out what's happening to the Cougar.

I bought this yesterday.

It's a 1.6 Design - not sure where that came in the Astra H range but it's reasonably well equipped - electric windows all round, alloys, auto lights and aircon (working!) but no cruise.  It's a bit battered but goes well (I drove it back from Luton with no problems other than a bit of a knock from the NSF suspension on shit road surfaces) and has 4 months' test.  It's not a car I have any desire to own, but it was so comically cheap that I couldn't turn it down - plan is to tidy it up a bit (I've already ordered a wing mirror cover off eBay) and flog it on to hopefully make a drink on.  I don't like the seats (my left arse cheek was numb after about an hour and a half) but it's a decent enough drive other than that.  It rolled over 100K miles on the way home, so not over the top for an 11-year-old Astra.

Not that I should be cheery. Got sent a second pair of discs for the Nippa. Pull the first one out, lovely! Fits a treat. Get the second one out. WRONG. FFS!!

They were individually boxed, with the same part number, yet only one of them actually contained the correct disc. At least I've proved that the correct discs do actually exist. The only people doing well out of this farce are DPD. Packages flying around all over the bloody place.

Oh well. Back to the Bluebird! Timing marks seem to align nicely, so time to bolt it all back together.

I am not sure if it should be here as it has an engine and no wheels?

Anyway here it is Mrs 6C invaded Walsall canal basin yesterday and moored up over night, where I went to see her.

The shortest boat in the basin!

Edit. Here is a car to make it legitimate, looking awful with all its dents but for a quick 160 miles of motorway driving after work a gem.

They sell well - people do seem to like them for some reason.

I paid about five grand for a 3 year old one in 2009, kept it for six months because of the comfort issues you highlight.

Make sure the horn works with the lights turned on - it was a recall item I think they'll still sort out FOC if it hasn't been done

It's actually too hot. Trying to work on the Nissan with sweat pouring into my eyes. Remembered what a pain in the arse the inlet manifold bolts are to get at. Even worse trying to get them back in. This engine has been perfectly designed to be an UTTER ARSE.

I've been offered a cheap Pilot with a hatch back! Only problem is I need to get it front Nottingham back to Stoke and the seller is really specific as to when it can be moved (Friday morning or Wednesday next week, or maybe Monday) sounds like a right pain, may sack it off.

Who was it that Delivered cars on here? It's MOTD.

It's the top luxury/non-sporty spec IIRC.

Whenever I come across the "Autoshite Beige Courtesy Phone" when browsing, I remember the telephone my gran had at her old house. Why? Well, when I was cleaning out her garage I found it! So, without any further ado:

So what makes this so special other than the beigeiness and general grot? Well this of course:

Green Velour! Complete with stains and peely-off-bits, proper class!

An outdated, badly worn, beige telephone, in working order, upholstered in velour and that should have been disposed of years ago, yet I adore it?

Autoshite summed up in a telephone.

Thus concludes my not-particularly-car-related-but-vaguely-relevant trip down memory lane. As you were.

good luck with the op, stuboy - I've had both sides done myself but at different times. make sure you take it easy and don't rush back to work.
