Had a 93 Vector Sport 1.9 TDI - did 100 - 200 miles a day in it for about a year racking up 23k with very little fuss. Comfy, very nippy and never less than 51MPG on the motorway.

Manual though - so the dreaded DMF rattled since I got it until the day I sold it. Was a reliable steed. Good luck with yours!

And so the conveyer belt of MOTs begins....

Streetwise booked in with a (new to me) local indie for Thursday -  explained the CV outer boots will need doing as likely to fail, so he agreed to test first, then do the work plus anything else after. Not that I'm expecting 'anything else' - the car has done 1700 miles in 18 months, barely been used, and the two advisories I could sort out (brake discs and tyres) have been done. Told him there's no mad rush to get the work done, as long as it gets done in time for a free retest. Very popular place by the looks of it. Recommended as one of the owners is married to a former boss of mine at the Housing Association, and I'd rather throw money at an indie than my usual go to chain, F1 Autocentres.

Next up is the Accord coupe, just waiting on an unobtainium replacement caliper slider pin to arrive, hopefully tomorrow, to stop the squeaking caliper. Will get that one booked in early next week.

Then the 620 a fortnight after - gonna chance my arm with that one and just throw it in.

A month later it's the turn of the 420 - this one may prove trickier, and may need me to take it up to Rover Revival beforehand to look at the rear trailing arm bushes.

January, and it's the turn of the van, and the ungrateful bastard.

Got some OEM mud guards off the bay for the i10, as noted earlier, deleted from dealer inventory already! No fixings, but I'm hoping they will mostly use the existing wheel liner screws apart from the odd one on the side.

Just got back from spending time with @Saabnut and sorting the Roller door out. Turned out to be more 

a case of repositioning hinges and a few other bits. I didn't take any pics because, lets be honest, hinges are

not terribly interesting. Anyway here is a gratuitous pic. Look at the front on that. Phwoar !!!!!

I am as jealous as a very green thing. Proper chariot.

PS. I am now a vintage Rolls Royce door technician so if anyone knows of someone who needs this service 

you know where I am. Straight on the CV with this one. Next year I will be a millionaire not much better off 

than I am now.

A good friend of mine bought a mk 2 Clio Phase 1 1.6 16V recently. Cool car overall, but God do I love the wheels on it. One of my favourite designs on any car, ever.

How come I didn't know until today, thanks to Matthew Hayward of Octane magazine, that the Alfa 90 could be spec'd with a built in suitcase!?

Looked at car. Car is good. Seller wants to let the eBay auction run to its end even though I managed to get him to admit how much he wanted for it, which is annoying, so looks like it's a waiting game.

Since I have cleverly deduced what it is (by you telling me what it is), I'm wondering what your reaction would be if you got outbid and then I turned up in it at the next Northern Powerhouse. Almost worth buying it for that alone!

Clutch mainly and v short covid MOT, was on sale on AS but buyer had to pull out and I didn't have time to Roffle etc so it had to go unfortunately.

WTF is that kit even meant to be? It's got the front of a 355 and the back of an F40.

 

MOT site say it's a real Ferrari 348. An utterly ruined one, mind.

Not too bad. 

Got a set of tyres handy for it as well. 

So... Keep or sell? The guy was very complimentary on its overall condition, said it must have been well cared for by previous owners. He's a Peugeot licker as well - pootles to the little hamlet garage in a red 205 automatic.

I think its a Koeing conversions 348, they are an aquired taste! The looks are  OTT but they normally have  bonkers twin turbo conversion so at least the looks are backed up with a serious increase in go  over the standard dancing donkey. Mind you its on a low loader so maybe the V8 has had enough and thrown its conrods out of the pram.....

Never quite understood those Koenig conversions. Seem to be aimed at the more money than sense crowd who think that their factory fresh Ferrari isn't powerful enough.

They did a twin turbo Testarossa that was 710hp!

Yes they did but that was the first go, the poor old Testarossa ended up with 1000bhp in the final variant, because too much is never enough!

I'm sure I recall Koenig Ferraris being the ultimate cards to hold (in terms of power output at least) in late '80s Top Trumps.

The Ferrari 348 wasn't powerful enough and that was one of the problems with it. At the time, the Honda NSX made a mockery of it in pretty much every way. Faster, better handling, Senna influence and of course won't leave you stranded. Hence the 348 was replaced by the 355 after not too long. 

Unfortunately the 348 is still the poor man's Ferrari but you have to not be very poor to just buy one now. Otherwise I'd totally have sold everything automotive wise and got one! :(
