1977 Cavalier Mk1 1.6GL

MOT September 2015

'Taxed to get you home'

48,000 miles from new

Three owners on the V5, effectively one owner for most of it's life, he'd always garaged it.

The spare wheel still has the original GM stamp on the Michelin tyre and has clearly never been used.

Runs great, when cold it's takes a little while to start, a garage had told last owner it needs a non-return valve on the fuel line as the petrol runs back to the tank. It always starts though and pulls well.

Paintwork a bit ropey, the roof is sort of blotchy, seemingly the widow of the first owner left something on top of the car in the garage.

There's a v.small hole on rear edge of driver's wing and a reasonable bit of surface rust here and there. It really wants garaging, something I can't do as mine is leaking so a waste of time.

I'm not getting enough use out of it and can't garage it, which is just criminal, it really is.

I'll get loads more pictures soon as.

Value?

It'll be hard to call I reckon, so I'm going to say about £1,395 which (I hope and think) is pretty fair given it's not mint, but very original.

I might swap for something fast/stupid/expensive to run (inc. modern or old motorbike), same value, or cheaper and cash my way, as I've got my eyes on another old Vauxhall I fancy.

Fucksticks.

Want but can't have.

GLWTS old chap.

Won't hang around at that money. Looks lovely

I had a 79 manta berlinetta hatch five or so years ago and my phone melted down at an asking of 2.5k.

What in the name of mercy can you possibly want to own more than this beauty?

Posted

Something that doesn't need garaging.

How fast does it go mister?

It is faster than the fastest thing ever recorded going fast - and a bit more when its warmed up sir!

+1 - I absolutely love it, sadly my little 53-plate Astra is worth 50p so probably no use to you.

GLWTS, Sincerely. Lovely little car.

This is a lovely, lovely old thing. You'll miss it when it is gone, but I think you're doing the right thing in selling it. It needs to go to someone who can keep it in the dry.

A snip - also a more interesting alternative to a mk IV cortina.

I didn't even know that you had this! Fantastic and much more unusual than a Cortina. I love the 'Victoriana' script on the rear badge of these early models.

Apparently I was caught looking at these pictures with an expression normally reserved for spotting a nice lass with big boobs. Doesn't tick any boxes of what I want, so I'm struggling to resist....

I have an inexplicable soft spot for these.  Much want, no garage, no money, very sadness.  GLWTS.

Oddly enough I looked into shipping (another car) to Australia a couple of years back, I think it was something like £1600 on the open deck.

I will regret selling this but it needs a better owner, really it does. Will take something cheap and cash my way if it helped anyone

It's keenly priced this and looks great. Hope it goes to a good home.

It looks lovely.  But no space, no money, no time to use it and a ferocious wife combo means it couldn't happen for me :-(

out of interest are you in york?

Another Roman city, Chester!

If it's well rustproofed, kept clean and watertight there's no reason it can't sit outside, if a prospective purchaser doesn't have a garage.

Posted

Seems a shame to sell.......isn't another lock up or budging the roof on the cards?

Posted

A Welsh city, Chester!

Yah see what I did there ?

Posted

Yes, now sod off!

This looks a fab thong to potter about in. I'd love it but I have too much Dagenham tin sitting here already without adding Luton loveliness to it.
