Six-cylinder Posted August 3, 2020 Author Posted August 3, 2020 At the weekend the Gamma club bought me over a rebuilt rear caliper for my Gamma Berlina and volunteered to pop it on for me. It turns out to be more complicated than it looks because the piston has to be twisted to line up with the handbrake mechanism. Also the the handbrake the other side had to be backed off to get the cable back on the piston. I now have brakes that don't bind. @dozeydustman Thanks for the offer to help and don't worry there are plenty of other things that need doing. The next problem is the Gamma fluffs when pulling away and they started to sort that but ran out of time. Also the n-s front indicator needs some careful attention to make the indicator work again as the earth is broken in the unit. LightBulbFun, Fumbler, Coprolalia and 10 others 13
dozeydustman Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 @Six-cylinder glad to see the more knowledgeable about these cars managed to sort out the calliper for you. I hope to be armed with better tools and effective sun cream next time I’m up. Still yet to locate a tent for the weekend. Six-cylinder, LightBulbFun, Floatylight and 1 other 4

Zelandeth Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I'll definitely make an attempt to get along to this. I suspect sticking around for any real length of time will require me to bring the van as I tend to need a quiet space I can retreat to these days - current distancing situation making that even more of an issue. Will probably depend largely on how I'm feeling nearer the time, but I'm not adverse to the idea of dropping the van off, seeing if I could get a lift back here and then pick up TPA and bring her over. Assuming she continues to behave herself over the next couple of weeks of course. On the subject of the van - it's actually big enough that (especially once I stick the curtain between the cab and living area back in) I could theoretically assist with picking folks up while remaining the prerequisite distance away from you. Not sure how useful or not that might be. I do only have a single seatbelt in the back though (I really do need to get another couple fitted). LightBulbFun 1
Ghosty Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Lost another week's work thanks to the bastard landlord, but the 205 has most of a tank left in it as a result. I'm downgrading to maybe.
Heidel_Kakao Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I should be able to make it to the FOD for a full weekend this time? Just got to decide whether it's possible to sleep comfortably in the sportcross or if I would be better off in a bloody tent.

LightBulbFun Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I very much would like to make it to this one having missed the other one but the question still remains of, would be ok with me coming? in that because unless someone can scoop me up from London, the only way I can get down is via public transport which I understand people where not happy with the idea of last time hence why I never went last time but if people are a bit more ok with that this time then it would be good to know as id very much like to come, but id still need to hitch a lift from MKC to the FoD but at least @Zelandeth has kindly put forward this option which may work 10 hours ago, Zelandeth said: On the subject of the van - it's actually big enough that (especially once I stick the curtain between the cab and living area back in) I could theoretically assist with picking folks up while remaining the prerequisite distance away from you. wuvvum Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Just checked and it looks like the Kings Lynn auction is also going to be online only, so I might well be able to trundle down. LightBulbFun 1

SiC Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Brief interlude of dangerous MOT failure Visa, falling to bits Spitfires, rusty new Alfas, makings of car commercials and car of the decades on a classic Top Gear with Mr Woollard! I think you do or have owned most models mentioned on this episode...

Andyrew Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 This was from box of tat a customer gave us as he was clearing out. The shop it came from shut down donkeys years ago. Just look at that price! Now with LW! Getting fancy. Looks new buts slightly used, like its been a demo unit or something or it could be Ballsed. Any use in the fleet before the bin? POWER!!!!! Six-cylinder 1

catsinthewelder Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I can bring a spare tent and inflatable mattress, I'll admit that I don't find them very comfortable but that's what beer is for. LightBulbFun 1
wuvvum Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Or as @Smoll Floatylight will confirm, if you imbibe enough of Mrs6C's home brew, the field itself can suddenly seem a surprisingly comfortable place for a kip. chaseracer, beko1987, Floatylight and 3 others 2 4

It was for the parts recovery of the Gamma Berlina lodging with us and donated to the club as a parts car. Glorious weather made it a very pleasant weekend and interesting to see two later Deltas and a ypsilon. We were worried that the Spitfire would think we were Italian and straife us! Great for the gamma, but the moderns aren’t lookers are they,
richardmorris Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Have fun at the open weekend, it’s my eldest nieces 12th birthday so will be going there ( In our bubble). I may * ( who knows at the moment ) be visiting north wales in a fortnight and could possibly drop the 1988 period Philips radio cassette off on the way home. It’s been in the boot since February!

bub2006 Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 He may come with me next time. Thank you,I'll tell him that because he appreciates folk taking time for him. Something his mum never did and part of the reason why he now lives with me.
