That has to be £5495, surely

To be fair the price is probably to cover the cost of the sheer gallons of tyre shine used on those joyroad ditchfinders

Bloody hell.

’no expense spared’ - apart from the shit tyres

’dashboard gauges have chrome rims fitted, which will be sold with the car’

Oh right, now I get why it’s £11k over asking.

Eventually they went with the 2.0i Sierra for us lowlifes, traffic gods got Rover 827 - both came in automatic form as that was the norm (not sure if the manual box in the Montego/Maestro was seen as a minus). Tickford were someplace on the periphery of the 827 assessments and you'd see the odd thing (like a Turbo Technics twin turbo Sierra 4x4) floating around that we could often look at but not touch.

How did the Sierras fare? I always found they fell apart quite soon.

My mate was the chassis engineer for the 827s for various polices forces around the country. They hated the A68 in Northumberland when used in anger. Having driven this road at speed, I can understand the issue. The last vehicle I took on it at speed and load was a MG ZT-T 260.

The Sierras were  OK - by the standards of the day they were fast(ish) and mechanically they seemed reliable enough (all on auto boxes). They replaced the 6 cyl SD1 2600 and were a bit quicker off the mark. Biggest problem was that if hit a speed hump or pothole hard there was fuel cutoff switch in the boot that would activate and leave you stranded for a bit - kind of embarrassing. I was using them in Central London so you're not getting up to much more than 45 mph in reality. Once I moved further out to the likes of Staines then they were feeling a bit sloooow esp on the M25.

Around 1987 I got the chance to drive an 'evaluation' Sierra up at the driving school. That was a Turbo Technics XR4x4 - it was rather pleasant. No way they'd have issued it to us - maybe specialised units but I never saw one used in anger.

827s were the remit of The Traffic Gods and folks like the Royalty Protection bods - we were not worthy - never heard much moans/groans/rumours about them to be honest. I'm guessing that A68 driven hard was bending/stretching bits of the cars that the designers had not considered when laying out a wafty barge?

It's difficult to describe the number of severity of the sharp crests on this fairly main road. The issue was the car would land differently to it taking off..if that makes sense? Something like 12% crests.

Yup - bendy monocoque setup probably not helped by a ton load of kit in the boot?

Given it hasn't done 50k yet, what price would you think reasonable ? £3k ?

It didn't sell in August.

Whereas this one with a few extra miles  sold for £4400 earlier in the year.

TBF, the Ami is only slightly better!

To be fair, you can't drive an Ami on the pavement or around the inside of Asda and get away with it.

Just seen this in a Hubnut video and did a double-take at the price.

Very nice but £22,500 is about three times what an R16 is worth 🤯Pocket change compared with most of their stock like the £575,000 Delahaye and £935,000 DB5, but still...
