Scouring job lots on eBay revealed a load of broken Superfasts, but hiding in with them was this:

I have a decent Corgi East African Safari Beetle, so why did I want this 3-wheeled wonder?

I’ve got to say the price of Matchboxes and Corgis have gone through the roof at a lot of these events, I was at a car boot a week or two ago, there was the aforementioned box of tat, nothing outstanding it was mostly playworn 80’s Superfasts, asked how much they were and the guy goes ‘which one?’ Kind if knew the price was going to be like a Chicago telephone number, anyway he inspects it for about 9 years then goes £5 for that one (from memory it was a playworn MB75 Alfa Carabo). For that reason I’ve sacked it off with collecting the older ones as the whole Antiques Roadshow bollocks ruins it a bit. I’ll drop by the Tesco occasionally instead ?.

Wanted a Mk1 Espace, so bought this...

Not sure whether to leave as is or make into a normal one.

Oh that's interesting - I had one the same, but without the raised roof section. Other than the stickers, it was just a normal Espace.

Someone on here has it now - possibly a swap could be arranged?

Thinking back, I've a feeling that's in my neverending pile for delivery some day. If so, then please release to Mr .doc, as I'm sure it's better suited to his attention than mine! If a swap is necessary (i.e. I've paid for it already), then let's get swapping!

Don't bother with these potless years, they are the number one reason I stopped going to Swapmeets.

Try and find a stall that has a normal looking person, under about 50-looking whose stock gives the impression they are clearing out toys that their children have grown out of.

Normal looking people aren’t getting up at 6 am on a Sunday to make £15 on a paste table sadly. ?

Thanks for the feedback, I did think that some came out OK and others, so so.

And look, I have been to Monument Valley - twice!

49796793098_7da7fe48b7_b.jpg

I must say I'm very happy with the shading I've achieved here, as well as that seamlessly integrated foreground. It's almost like a real photo or something....

And talking of definite genuine time travelling adventures, here's an (averagely executed) update:

50186772441_67e8b6d5b7_b.jpg

I always find Airbnbs to be deceptively photographed and this one proved no exception.

50190566972_12fe60300a_b.jpg

Again, car and driver had mutual lubrication, courtesy of Gulf and Pepsicola. Insert joke as to which had which (!!)

50186224588_0d222d1a21_b.jpg

Can't say I was too impressed by this, as it looks very much like a stylised version of a salt mound we have at a nearby port.

50190310661_bc4f776f06_b.jpg

Anyway, after all this driving, it's time for a bit of on the road housework - i.e. wash the smalls. Lovely as this thing has been, I reckon it's time to chop it in for something else....

It seems that the white caravan would perfectly compliment my Simca Chambord;

Looks like the innocuous tow bar was there to pull along a 'van, according to the internet:

Just not sure I could justify the cost to buy it and get it to NZ!

Y0 @Datsuncog I might be interested in those 1/76 scale Alexander Y Types if they're not too mullered. One looks like a Lothian one, I sold mine a few years ago but kept my other Lothian Buses so would be good to get one again.

Yes, there were indeed a couple of Y Types in there, including a Lothian one... I spent quite a while agonising over them; although not identical, they have a passing resemblance (from ths side) to the Alexander bodied Leyland Leopards and Bristol REs operated by Ulsterbus, models of which are always stratospheric in their pricing.

The sticking point was that all of these OO scale buses kinda look like they spent two decades on a shelf between a deep-fat fryer and a wood router, and were then swept into a plastic bag and given a good shake for a few hours before being left in the sea for a bit...  chipping to the roof and corners, marks to the paintwork on all sides and the paint bubbling and lifting on the roof means that these aren't in the best of nick...

The perverse part being that he was banging out all those mint boxed EFE and OOC buses for £3 late last year. He may come to his senses soon and start doing them for a pound or two, in which case I'll be in there...

Yes, my trusty spreadsheet advises that the Espace did indeed go to you (well remembered) - but I think it's still in the parcel that's with Bramz7 at present!

I bought this new in about 1994 - for some reason, a local toy shop got in a load of Guisval and Novacar, so there must have been some sort of deal with a Spanish/Portuguese distributor involved... the stickers were applied straight over the doors, and I had to use a modelling scalpel to cut through them and get the doors to open.

Ha! Now, much as that is a tasty bit of kit, I think I have French model cars of 1/43 (ish) scale in an already favourable amount, so if @TheDoctor likes what he sees, then lets make something happen. Not heard from @bramz7 on these pages for a while, though it sounds like I should be scheduling some overseas postage at some point soon.

Funnily enough I went past you and BB’s gaffs as we spent weekend at Brightlingsea in the camper. Not been since childhood- it’s a small wannabe Poole these days. I did say wannabe. And all the better for it.  Then went to Walton where social distancing is at near 3%

Ok, so - today's diecast takeaway brings us:

20200807_143509.thumb.jpg.f94d9a40543284f23299dbbcc688ffbb.jpg

Bingo bango.

As requested, the following pair were picked up for @TheDoctor and DocJr:

20200807_143607.thumb.jpg.fb9f14cfd7cdd160276e29b859e0a652.jpg

20200807_143635.thumb.jpg.a4368321cca15f624033c7dd8c88f36c.jpg

So that's the Matchbox Superkings K-95 Audi Quattro, in metallic blue with only minimal toybox wear... and also the 1983-only release of the Honda Prelude in yellow, as supplied in the C12 Gift Set along with a plastic glider that really flew plus a trailer to pack it all away into:

20200807_152459.thumb.jpg.4592d0c5043e3558b7d667f1dcd428b4.jpg

There's a few small marks on the Prelude, but it's not an easy version to find. I previously had the metallic blue version, the singly-sold C345, which I foolishly flogged on here because...

20200807_143651.thumb.jpg.4458964d5dff92224a2ba4df00078f8f.jpg

...what I really wanted was the cream-coloured version with the green stripe, to replace a long-lost childhood version.

20200807_143707.thumb.jpg.0aed8f483b947cf2449f8853195c92e0.jpg

The cream and green version of the C12 Gift set was only available for 1982; the next year it went yellow, and the year after that it was canned, with less than 50,000 overall sales.

20200807_152542.thumb.jpg.7fcecf7ce38b2c02a1938fa438862c01.jpg

Now, I don't believe I ever had the trailer or anything, so I'll assumemine was a second-hand version acquired from a jumble sale - or from one of those mysterious bundles of assorted clothes and toys that sometimes appeared from people my mum used to work with, whose kids had now outgrown them.

This was another grubby example on the stall, so I didn't realise until I started to clean it up that it's been touched up rather a lot, and there are more than a few marks on it (which might come off with Autosol or something).

20200807_143724.thumb.jpg.d09cb23924ef92c1d40983d96716c0b6.jpg

20200807_135907.thumb.jpg.93a4dbee75a99b6502d70fd7d0035dcd.jpg

Mmmm... I can't say I haven't seen similar real-life repairs on Japanese cars from the same era, mind. The colour's a really good match, but it's just been blobbed on. A ten-footer, I guess you'd say.

(Water droplets are from giving it a good old rub-a-dub-dub on arrival home, to protect against OMG COVID-19 DIECAST VIRUS. What a way to go, hey? 718, 945 worldwide deaths from aerosol transmission - plus one unlucky twonk who caught it off a Corgi car? I ain't taking no chances, fool.)

So this one is staying, at least until I can find a tidier example. It should display ok.

Next up, another Corgi 1/36:

20200807_143854.thumb.jpg.0dcec7b1566ffef17a737fabe5e20aef.jpg

20200807_143911.thumb.jpg.6636d11af6996067e156e63a18c5a3f6.jpg

It's the E30 Beemer, in that silver colour I usually associate with the Mobil fuel giveaways in the late '80s/early 90s.

Now, last year some of you may recall I engaged in a bit of online retail therapy and came away with a couple of mint and boxed mid-80s Corgis, including a black E30.

20190328_225933.thumb.jpg.916a89055707b6ce5e34ac50140e843e.jpg

I could have had a red one for the same price, but I went for the black one, like those 325is I remembered blezzing around London's financial district in the early 90s courtesy of the red-braces crew.

20190328_231320.thumb.jpg.73292a19382e53664305c94d994aae96.jpg

Bad call. It doesn't display well at all; it's nigh-on invisible on the shelf between the other 1/36 scale models.

So this silver version may be handy, so I can actually see a Corgi BMW in the cabinet.

While it's maybe not the crispest rendering that it could be, I've never seen one on these wheels before, and I reckon it kinda suits them.

20200807_143958.thumb.jpg.cf3e1dd3f3eec2cb4ba9785be5c7f865.jpg

So, not for sale either.

Next up, another request - this time from @bunglebus, firmly riding the wave of VW 1600 love that's been recently manifest.

20200807_144156.thumb.jpg.f97ce00a22f536e45979f44ec3cfafec.jpg

A-posts are intact, and all spotlights are present and correct...

...although there seems to be something slightly humpy about the overall profile - or is it just my eyes?

20200807_144134.thumb.jpg.af9dbe64501a2047baea1cfb2836c92d.jpg

Base is good too on this late big-wheel version;

20200807_144233.thumb.jpg.1dc0001b8a21ea9c45123ba01ab36260.jpg

I have my own skinny-Superfast purple version, but I got it knowing that someone here would want it - as evidenced! I'll be hoovering up any more of these I can find, so hopefully everyone who wants one can get one.

But staying with Lesney, this one's up for grabs:

20200807_144250.thumb.jpg.996df144ffbc03d712ace4bcbd7e655e.jpg

The No.22 Pontiac GP Sports Coupé, in worn but sound condition.

20200807_144315.thumb.jpg.4fd1b76099e254d42fdcc8f37913e031.jpg

Towbar still present and everything.

20200807_144356.thumb.jpg.f779ef4e9be228ebc886e5eef1dd9d92.jpg

With opening doors, this is a nicely done representation that's still looking good even after 50-odd years.

20200807_144649.thumb.jpg.f44781ea7599f940f83117b7ef9cdb05.jpg

£2 takes this one!

Next up, a slight déja vu:

20200807_144703.thumb.jpg.7ef39eba5b80abde0e91eddc126f0b66.jpg

Lumme, another Corgi Chevrolet Corvair in a bit of a state.

20200807_144717.thumb.jpg.1663fbb1cdd3d83468514283c9435403.jpg

Like the one from a few months back, this is actually fairly intact and very solid; a dab of paint and some new tyres and you'd be doing well.

20200807_144741.thumb.jpg.54982083af18950d4ff18b1b819db816.jpg

There is a crack in one of the engine cover hinges, which is why it sits slightly up in the air on one side - a blob of glue should fix it, though.

I may also have a spare engine cover for one of these lying around, too... will have a hoke later.

But if anyone fancies this it's yours for £1!

Lastly, another Lesney Superkings - this time 2/3 of the Superfast era K-16 Dodge Tractor with Twin Tippers:

20200807_144013.thumb.jpg.2c2a991a07c5c34103392a52113cc44e.jpg

Although missing its second trailer, it's pleasingly fresh-looking with minimal wear.

20200807_144030.thumb.jpg.af4f7fd3075c173ec8de81e359b73c85.jpg

That trailer ain't done much hauling of muck through the flowerbeds, I'll warrant.

20200807_144113.thumb.jpg.e178b4d0edcb7417d399de5e30ee32cb.jpg

The only flaw I can find is that one of the suspension supports on the inner rear axle seems to have broken off, so although it'll display ok, you may have bother getting it HGV inspected for road use...

20200807_144047.thumb.jpg.37e75f0d11bd76c15656480074a3040f.jpg

Still, it's a nice-looking thing - though I'm more into the earlier regular wheels King Sizes right now, so while I'm happy to hold on to it, I'm equally happy to sell it on for the £5 I paid for it.

I'll do some sums for those who have requested a total, and hit you up by PM - but, until next week, have yourselves a jolly and tat-filled weekend...
