That's a Gulch Stepper, bases on the Dodge Rampage

Hot Wheels Gulch Stepper

I was looking at one of those Sze vans on eBay but it was missing the rear door, one of a few I haven't found yet

@Datsuncog blue Jag and white Cherokee please!  And if you want a green Mini or two, I've got three Aldis within reach where I'm pretty sure I can get one.

Blue Jag secured for you Eddy - he didn't have any more of the white Cherokees today, sorry.

Market was pretty empty this morning - seems a few traders are taking a break.

The Antiques Shitshow had some new stuff! Really nice items, too.

IMG_20260123_082502.jpg.91cd7070b7edc8b043449f1d208ba96c.jpg

"They're all priced on the back," called the stallholder when he clocked me eyeing them up. "They're half the price they're going for online!"

Mmm... £50 for the Corgis, £75 for the Dinkys, £18 for the Matchbox helicopter (in a squashed box).

1320741726_Thinkingmemeface.jpg.068b08af90c2e9309b595dcb8a14b849.jpg

O RLY?

Now, I would definitely have splurged £25 on a clean boxed Corgi 490 Touring Caravan (I've already got a loose one - they're common enough finds when paired with a car, but the standalone version was never a big seller and wasn't offered for long), and a quick squizz online indicates that's about the going rate:

Screenshot_20260123_160851_com_ebay_mobile_ViewItemActivity.jpg.22f55497fb8dd021cf2f3278b706331d.jpg

But not for £50, no.

I don't know where he's looking if he thinks he's seeing these for £100... nice enough items, but the price ain't right.

Not even Alan's magic 50p tray could lift things much today:

Ah well. Happy Friday anyway, kids.

£75 for that Silver Jubilee bus? ROFL. I've got a boxed one of those I bought at a show for £6. That one's missing the cardboard insert and mine isn't so I think I got the better deal.

That was great, but poses more questions than it answers at least for me!

How did he get the glazing so clear and sparkling?

How did he do the yellow sun strip on the windscreen?

How did he do the leopard skin effect on the seats?

Also if I was being critical (and I am) I would question the positioning of the rear number plate and the choice of black rear lights.

Overall I loved it and thanks @Tenmil Socket for posting this!

Nice find on the Roller. I had one exactly the same as that. The grill and headlights fell out of it very quickly though.

Get a bit of wax under that wing, you’ve got some rust blistering up!😄

Lots of wet and dry then polish, and possibly some self shining floor polish.

The yellow strip is probably paint, there are clear tints in the little tins or aerosol, I bought a couple recently to recreate the Spectraflame effect on early Hot Wheels

Quite possibly, I'm not well versed on slot cars but I bought a few sets at the toy fair as there's nothing out there for customising Speed Kings etc.

Other thought that occured to me is model kit parts, I might have a few odds and ends kicking about but @Spottedlaurel might be the guy to ask

@dan95x I'd be looking at older 1/43 F1/sports racers for small diameter but wide wheels. The sort of thing that would £2-3 in tatty condition at a toy fair.

This week's diecast arrivals:

IMG_0331.JPG.54c1c8656fccf588668db58f82bbb3c0.JPG

This batch with thanks to @bunglebus. Have started seeing the 4Runner myself, but not the 300ZX. One of the RAVs has been donated to Miss SL and her BF, although their one-time plan of buying a 1:1 Mk1 has been scotched by getting the Satna Fe.

IMG_0333.JPG.3c9c261f436ec382fcacadaa21555479.JPG

This lot came from Japan. The Civic has various alternative parts, will hopefully have a play with that sometime this weekend. Don't recall seeing the HWs set here, though it seems a few are available on eBay etc.

IMG_0336.JPG.7f3a800f375139e7a980357e4efec418.JPG

I got them as 'bonus' items within the £135 duty free allowance with these 1/24 plastic purchases:

IMG_0332.JPG.30cacf1ee409416be73913260e55aabe.JPG

The older Laurel is a newly-tooled release that only came out last year, great that they're having a go at stuff like this. The C34 completes a run of every generation of Laurel that is readily available at a sensible price. There is also the original C30 model from 1968-72, but unless there any obscure older Japanese kits I have never seen that one recreated in 1/24 plastic.

Pre-wired distributor was a random eBay purchase. Never tried one of them before.

Since then I've done a few odds and ends. Decided as it's already a little play worn, to keep with that theme.

The O/S rear arch had a dent in the casting. So I've deliberately added the brighter red and some rust. Front door has now been replaced with a previously hand painted one. Which I luckily had, from another broken Schabak Sierra!

The wheels were a bit wonky, so for now I've added these from a Solido Citroen ZX. Thought it would give the look of some universal wheel trims.

Interior been painted grey and I've detailed the engine bay. Then added some modern French plates I had.

Not great, but then it wasn't meant to be.

Also I have this tatty Gama Cavalier. Which I'm thinking of trying to have ago at weathering, or maybe just give it a repaint and make it nice.

Love those, they look just the right amount of shonky, it's so easy to over do it! That ramp is great too, I usually have an Inter Cars Saab displayed on a ramp, but not a sophisticated one like yours, just an old Crescent one I picked up at a toy fair.

At the time I replaced the missing light and broken door, with spares I had.

Love those! Great job on the Sierra too, fortunate you found the spare door.

I fixed up this Schabak Orion last year.
Found in a job lot of other junkers with various scratches and the windscreen missing. Fully repainted to look like my old 1.4GLX with a windscreen made out of the curved neck of an old soap bottle!
Just needs a tail light now but I’ll probably have to make it as I’m having no luck finding a replacement.

That's very impressive!

I'm now wondering how many Volvo C30s and Citroen C4 VTS models I have.

@Split_Pin

Cheers Rich, I've found myself somewhat oversubscribed on the Bburago side of things lately.

A couple off the work bench today.

International Loadstar bus.
It’s had a few coats of different weathering shades and some panel line shade then all the lights touched in with Tamiya clear orange/red as appropriate.
Considering the cluster fu*k that happened to this model, I’m actually pretty happy with how it’s come out.

My old Fester is done too, apart from the number plates.
Good to have a model of my old Ghia - gone but not forgotten!
I can’t find any wheels so it’ll have to stay on these for now at least.

That Modena Green Cortina looks lust like the "before" pic of mine from 1991!
