I haven't seen enough of them to know, did any of the K70s get the annoying plastic cover over the towbar (as per later castings like the Simca/Chrysler 1308 and Peugeot 604)? Looked at others I have near me and Fiat 127, Chrysler 180 and Volvo 245 don't have the cover. Just wondering when that feature (presumably a safety requirement) came in, and whether any castings got modified partway through their life to incorporate it. Richard_FM and Burnside 2

quicksilver Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Finally finished glazing the last few of the 3D prints I painted last year so I can move on to some more. Found an ancient can of Nevada Beige from when I had the Fiesta over 20 years ago. It still had pressure so I decided to try it. The finish was awful and lumpy but a bit of heat, a thorough wet sand and a thick coat of lacquer actually made it look okay. Applejack Aggro Colour shifting Primera Fiesta was a pig to glaze. All three Rustoleum Colour Shift paints - Cosmic Blue, Purple Eclipse and Galaxy Green. The colour change effect is hard to capture on camera but very obvious in the flesh. FakeConcern Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Continuing my obsession with the C4 VTS, I've now just about finished the model of my second one. I made a few small improvements compared to the one I made for my daughter, the most noticeable being the rear view mirror and sensors in the windscreen. I have ordered some tinted film for the pan roof, but it's not turned up yet. The wheels are from a 50p Bburago 1/32 Loeb rally car, very handy as I had the very similar Team Dynamics on that car. You can see in the background I have started the next model of my first C4 VTS. I also got a lovely Norev model from ebay for the starting bid, which was nice... This one has a pan roof The first C4 VTS I drove was a Scott Yellow diesel VTS like this They do have a good level of detail Spottedlaurel, Datsuncog, Split_Pin and 4 others 7

dan95x Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I am after advice from you seasoned miniature motor fiddlers - it should probably be in ask a shiter, but its pretty specific, so I suspect makes more sense in here. My father in law used to race hot rods bsck in the day at Hednesford etc, and i recently found a model on ebay that someone had made into one of his mates escorts, which got me thinking it would be nice to make him some, of his two main and most successful cars for his birthday. I have the 2 1:43 scale base models in question.... Now disassembled, paint stripped and ready to go largely. I have 2 main problems - wheels and a racing seat for both of them. Wheels wise, he used to band his standard steels - the actual design doesn't matter too much, as he also handily painted them black, but is there anywhere I can buy 1:43 scale Wheels and tyres that will give me proportions similar to the below?.... Apologies for the picture of a picture - i had to sneak it while he wasnt in the room to copy the design! As i don't regularly mess with models, I dont have a stash to try different wheels from, so im hoping somewhere sells them for modellers? Similar with a racing seat for each - i can make something looking vaguely like a roll cage, use the existing dash etc, but the standard seats just look stupid - anywhere that sells such things? matt79, Spottedlaurel, danthecapriman and 2 others 5
Spottedlaurel Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I have no idea, but that Firenza looks fantastic as a hot rod! Makes a change from usual Anglia/Escort of the time. eddyramrod, andrew e, matt79 and 1 other 3 1
bunglebus Posted January 22 Posted January 22 My advice would be parts from Scalextric cars, it's hard to find custom made bits in 1:43 Something like these maybe? dan95x and danthecapriman 2

I might have a couple of racing seats in my spares box. Can’t remember what they came out of, doesn’t matter either I suppose! I’ll have a look tomorrow and see if they’re still there, you can have them if you want them. Wheels, there’s a few places on eBay if you just search for 1:43 wheels. Some are 3D printed, some are whitemetal. Could you ‘band’ your old wheels from the base model? Either use a short length of suitable diameter plastic tube glued to the original wheels outer bead or maybe drill out some spare wheels to remove the centres and glue those on similarly. Tyres might be more tricky though. Maybe you could similarly modify a second tyre and glue that onto the extended rim side by side with the original tyres? It’s probable you won’t see the joint in the centre as it’ll be hidden under the car and in the arches. dan95x 1

I did think that re the wheels, that i might be able to do some minature-banding, but the tyres had me stumped. Those scalextric ones suggested by @bunglebus might work thoigh, in combo with some home made banded steelies! Will have a look on ebay too, see if there is anything suitable If you did have a couple of racing style seats, that would be amazing - just let me know, and what you want for them 👍 danthecapriman 1
sheffcortinacentre Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Think scalextric will be to big 1/32 aren't they? Try grand Prix models they do alsorts of stuff in various scales.

Quite possibly, I'm not well versed on slot cars but I bought a few sets at the toy fair as there's nothing out there for customising Speed Kings etc. Other thought that occured to me is model kit parts, I might have a few odds and ends kicking about but @Spottedlaurel might be the guy to ask

Lord Sterling Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Popped to the local supermarket this morning after work. I noticed these: Majorette 1/64, presumably collectors editions. They were on pegs at £10 each. I decided I might aswell fork out on this one: It's a nice model. Not sure its worth £10 but seems quite nice. sheffcortinacentre, andrew e, matt79 and 3 others 6

bunglebus Posted January 23 Posted January 23 This one's finished. Again Yep it's already been finished but then I realised that being one of the last made, it should have had a SuperKings base, rather than Speed Kings, so I tracked down a donor and took it all apart just so it said the right thing on the base I need help FakeConcern, matt79, danthecapriman and 5 others 8

danthecapriman Posted January 23 Posted January 23 @dan95x These any good? Dont want anything for them, just cover the postage costs. I think they’ll go in a padded envelope?
