What’s this then? 

It’s an unboxed 1:76 scale model made by Oxford Diecast bought from a show today for a couple of quid. The problem is that I’ve absolutely no idea what it is. 

Any ideas?

Also, how many variants of the Matchbox Astra is there… didn’t realise there was 2 police cars!

Gutted the 917 Hot Ones wasn't there. I really want that one.

My Dinky Phantom kit has just been delivered. I’m over the moon, it’s just as I remember it from 50+ years ago. It’s amazing that it has survived for so long in this condition.

So, what did I get…?

66p price tag. That was probably a lot of money in the early 70s!

The packaging is in great condition:

The inside is also in totally undamaged condition with everything present:

It comes as I remembered with some Humbrol paint in an odd shade of blue. I love the little stand for the paint pot:

I’m still torn between keeping this as is or opening it up like the excited kid I was all those years ago and building it. I’m leaning towards the latter.

I don’t have the time to build it right now anyway, so it can stay as is while I decide what to do.

I completely understand your conundrum. I recently acquired this:

As kids, myself and my younger brother managed to get the majority of the sets and spent hours and hours taking them apart, mixing pieces and putting them together again. I remember spending Christmas money on one at Argos only to be greeted by the sight of another Jeep, except green. And of course it was the only one in stock. 

But adult me wants to keep it in the box. At least for now.

I'd keep it as it is, to me it's like a time capsule somehow.

I've got the originals of the Starlet and RX-3, and I have to say those Not Wheels versions (or dupes as my teenage offspring would probably call them) aren't actually that terrible looking, nor the Lagermeister 911. That DTM C Class though 🤣

I've been stripping...

I didn't count these, but MrsR did, and reached 20.  And promptly used that number as a stick to beat me with.  Never mind that I've finished my cosmic soda...

Oh well... let's do some priming...

...starring my Corgi ambulance conversion to a Coupe de Fleur.  Little bit more filling and we should be ready for the topcoat.

And that's the last of my primer.  I think I should be buying these in pairs!
