As said these are Whizzwheels releases - the initial release was with cast wheels and separate tyres I measured them to be 1:42. A comparison showing the later upscaling of the Corgi 'Corniches' from ‘1:43’ to ‘1:36’, although I it measured to nearer 1:35 The larger Corgi Corniche (to me) is a bit special. It's one of those models that just feels weighted 'right' when holding it, opening the doors, etc Notice during production the front indicator colour changed... ...yet the rear indicator colour stayed the same. Dashboard decal a bit of a cop-out especially as the centre console being moulded-in is a good effort. Plastic steering wheel this time. Compare the Corgi MPW to the Dinky Toys Silver Shadow, whose casting dimensions are quite off, as the slim width is way out; taking the overall scale to approx 1:38 : Both have opening things Both have engines bays of detail I wondered for a while if Dinky intended to fix a faux-woodgrain sticker effort on their Shadow, as they did on their earlier Silver Cloud Coupe. Dinky Shadow: No. But! You did get an opening GLOVEBOX ! Which seemed to be thought as a *dramatic win in the toy features game ! Shocker. Great information, thanks. I had an obsession with RRs as a child and am just old enough to have been around ‘pre-Corniche’, but have always known the coupe version as a Corniche until more recent years. I have the larger Corniche casting which is completely mint, in a slightly shabby box. Whether my intent materialises to one day own a real Corniche remains to be seen, but they’re getting ever-further out of financial reach. I’ll have to slum it with my Bentley instead! 🤣 andrew e and bunglebus 2

bunglebus Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 A bit of a mixed bag of diecasts found at this morning's boot sales. I find it hard to leave very early Lesney issues rattling around with the Teamsterz, rescued two Magirus Deutz crane trucks As well as the cute Morris J2 Prefect And matching Thames. However, this was obviously in the days before either the idea or technology of modifying existing castings, as they're clearly different to one another This one's a bit far-out, but could Olive Oyl's little roadster make an interesting custom, with a new interior? Nice tidy Golf And the bigger Corgi buggy I honestly try not to buy weirdos now, but sometimes I just can't help myself. There have been several recently with wheels like a Rough Rider - but yet they do not balance on their side Pull back Trans-Am, from High Speed. I've sold most on but this was a type new to me This one just made me laugh, "Majorette" Volvo 740 turbo Made by Sohbi, and definitely a DeTomaso Mangusta, not a Transam... Majorette recovery truck, after removing all the plasticine... More Majorette, but plastic bodied and with the simple Novacar style base These always look like they've just escaped from Arena Essex An odd car, but yet Majorette decided to model it And in several colours This is the weekends "win" though, £10 worth of Dinky Customised Freeway Cruiser, AKA Vanpire Something's a little odd though Yes folks, a flocked interior! Spottedlaurel Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 Purchases from the local 1:1 Japanese car meet: Great to get the Matchbox Jaguar at last. He did have a less silly version of the Skyline Van, but it wasn't cheap and I'd already spent a bit on the Skyline C210 - that was something of a must-have, as I've had 1:1 versions in the past. bunglebus, danthecapriman, AndyW201 and 2 others 5
danthecapriman Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Little delivery this morning. The now very familiar box with an Argentinian flag in the back! Once a common car but not one you see many models of. Metallic black wouldn’t have been my preference but it’s the only colour available. Great to find a Jap car like this that hasn’t been modelled covered in all that boy racer ‘scene’ shizzle! Spottedlaurel, AndyW201, Split_Pin and 3 others 6

I saw a few of them available, which must’ve been as they came out for the magazine and just had to get one. It’s so nice to see just a completely standard normal one like that. The only way it could have been better was in a plain colour like white! Split_Pin 1

MAF260 Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Meagre pickings from 9 different shops whilst out today. The bins everywhere are quite full, but of old shite and a lot of it is battered. FakeConcern Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Delivery today of a Danbox! I now have enough R12s for two transporter loads. Thanks @danthecapriman! I recently spotted a Norev metal R15 (did we get them in the UK or only the R17?) to go with the plastic one I already have Red is metal, orange plastic In the background my Renault transporter shortly to be a R15/17 transporter! Love the yellow lights I did go to Brighton Marina market yesterday and picked this pile of shite for £8 I have cleaned the Tomte Mini up now. Eddy doesn't want the Corgi Escort van if anyone would like it AndyW201, eddyramrod, danthecapriman and 5 others 7 1
bunglebus Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 I believe we got both the 15 and 17 in the UK originally. I got a delivery today. Guiloy Renault 14 with broken 'screen Mira Taunus, with a wheel broken off - annoying as they're attached by pegs cast into the base rather than axles Mira Ritmo Mira Peugeot 504 And probably most interesting of all, Mira MK3 Escort The last four have been painted in primer so they'll all need a repaint. Sadly the Escort has a broken plastic base, so I need to work on a fix for that. This must be the only 5 door MK3 Escort casting (well when it was current anyway), everyone modelled the 3 door, but then both Matchbox and Majorette chose to miniaturise the 5 door Golf. How odd. eddyramrod Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 On my road trip I had a cracking day with @danthecapriman talking about our little cars... Bunch of 1/36 Buicks, resprayed in (variously) Barrow and Waterlooville! Then the following day I stopped at a nearby boot sale... Whole tub for a tenner? Who wouldn't? I had to, didn't I? Most of the smaller-scale examples will be going into my sale stock. andrew e, Tenmil Socket, Spottedlaurel and 5 others 7 1
danthecapriman Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 Great to see you again @eddyramrod👍 And a wonderful day spent chatting about cars and miniature cars too. Blinding haul on that lot from the boot sale too. eddyramrod and FakeConcern 1 1

What a brilliant* way to annoy all your customers - dangle a carrot, then snatch it away again. Even thought I highly suspected this was the way it'd go, can't help but think it's a bit of a high-risk way to work out potential demand for upcoming collections. They sent me a discount code to get £10 off something from their shop by way of apology, but nah, don't think so. I quite like the plastic garage kit, but even with a tenner off it's still wildly overpriced for all it is. Lord Sterling and AndyW201 1 1
Split_Pin Posted August 19, 2025 Author Posted August 19, 2025 Ive never seen a contemporary 5 door MK3 Escort model until today either, fantastic find Rich! Back in the mid 1990s I had to resort to a massively shit Sunrise 1/76 white metal kit to get a 5 door MK3. Even a nice spray job in Titan blue didn't hide how comically crap it was 😅 bunglebus 1
