£8.07 from AliExpress.

1:24 scale and makes a Lada-like engine noise.

It was sent wrapped only in some very thin black plastic, so the box was utterly fuqquered.

Love it though 😂

How much for the 2 Hot Wheels at the back please?

I'd rather send you the lot if you pay for postage.

Would you mind pricing up the postage please and I can then decide. I'm sure I can pass on anything I don't want to keep. Thanks.

From today's visit to the small toy fair in Norwich:

Almost inevitable that after not being able to find a Chrysler 180 for years another one should turn up. Rather lurid salmon pink! SEAT 128 3P by Mira is a nice thing.

Husky Transit has its tailgate - I can see why they're often missing, it's quite delicate. Also a mystery blob of foam inside it.

Plus these from a visit to Smyths.

It's because they're held in by the glass, which cracks in the corners, releasing the tailgate. Even if you find a replacement it won't stay on

@paulplomIf you want to post the lot to me (let me know how much) and I'm happy to keep what I want then distribute the other bits to whoever wants them. How about that as a solution?

I picked up 2 job lots earlier from the shop but the seller had already contacted me explaining they’d sent me someone else’s too and it was some kids birthday present. They could have used better packaging!

Yes I spotted those.  Thank you for the offer, but I don't have room to work in 1/32.  Accommodating all my 1/43s is getting exciting enough!

Well, that took a damn sight more filing and cutting than I was hoping but…

We now have the makings of a Transit minibus!
I marked the new windows out using the existing ones in the side doors and photos/drawings as a guide, then drilled loads of holes all around the inside of the marks. Then joined the dots with a tiny razor saw.
Filing it out afterwards back to the marked lines, which took ages. I could have used the dremmel but didn’t trust it, at least by hand you have more control.
I’ve added seats in rows inside the back too. Only major thing left to do is decide on what I’ll do with the rear door.

It seems the old Corgi Classics range, which comprised 1:50 scale models of lorries and 1:43 scale models of cars and vans is the new Models of Yesteryear, i.e. quite nice diecast models of brightly coloured commercial vehicles from 'the good old days' which were collected by giffers and disposed of after they died. They're now worth sod all due to market oversaturation. (see also model trains, EFE buses and probably those Oxford Diecast cars as well).

This ebay impulse purchase (cost me a fiver plus a couple of quid postage) is a model of a Foden FG which were introduced in the late 40s. I quite like old lorries and managed to see a real one of these at the Shrewsbury Steam Rally last weekend. I especially like the 2 stroke diesel engines they fitted in these and later models during the 50s and 60s.

The actual model is lovely, no moving parts sadly, but nicely detailed and satisfying chunky. It came with all the bits including two unpainted plastic figures, a driver and obligatory British jobsworth (bald, storeman's coat, clipboard) and slightly redundant limited edition certificate (these had huge production runs). The load is a nice feature as well.

An interesting printed detail on the fuel tank relates to the fact that lorries were limited to a glacial 20mph until iirc 1957 when the limit was raised to 30mph.

thats a nice model, although i didnt know they were 'limited' to 20mph, you can see why they still used horses to pull the dray locally! as a kid i was always fascinated by the neon stars on some of the pubs - now i know they were on the scottish and newcastle pubs, being relativley close to them here. vaux never had anything as eye catching! but camerons had a lion which  was nice and i think is the only brewer still going in there original location? or did they stop and restart a few years later....? im sure there was a while that you couldnt get strongarm easily anyway!

They are lovely models, I’m not sure they’re anywhere near as bad as the Models of Yesteryear though😄

My biggest problem with them is the choice of scale! Why on earth pick 1:50 FFS!? Then do the cars in 1:43! So you can’t display/play with them together because of the size difference!
Or is it just me with OCD about it.

That scale thing has pissed me off about Corgi trucks for years. They do some really lovely trucks and absolutely loads of British ones but all in that bizarre scale.
When I started doing the 1:43 collecting and custom builds I sold all mine. Some do still have a bit of value to them. There’s one lone survivor here:

I need to glue the bumper back on actually!
I don’t know if I’ll keep it or not tbh as it’s not 1:43, although it is one of my favourite trucks which is probably why it’s still here.

I was thinking more in terms of the collecting demographic whereby they were bought en masse by people who would expect them to increase in value.

Corgi Classics did market stuff of two different scales, frequently in the same box, so you'd get a lorry and a van together for example. I prefer things to be the same scale. Interestingly the old Corgi Landrover (introduced in the 1960s and derived from an earlier version) they rehashed for this range is about 1:50 scale.

In fairness WSI, Tekno, Solido etc also do trucks at 1:50 so it is a recognised scale especially in Europe. The really odd thing is that as these scales are derived from railway scale standards that British O gauge is apparently about 1:43 scale, whereas US O gauge is more like 1:48, but most US truck models are 1:43 (?).

I’m not sure where 1:50 came from to be honest. It does seem more of a European thing that Corgi just got into.

The annoying thing (for me!) is that if you want cars 1:43 has most things covered. But if you want trucks you’re screwed if you want British stuff. Likewise buses. There’s a few off the shelf ones available but not much at all. Lots of the O gauge railway modellers do actually use Corgi 1:50 trucks but it does stand out as being too small. There’s not a huge amount of choice though unless you start chopping things up and building your own. Although I suppose it does give me something to do!

Corgi are still doing the range of 1:50 trucks and buses but I don’t think it’s called Classics anymore. They do a lot of more modern vehicles now. It must be popular as there’s a huge cottage industry making accessories, spares and code3 parts for them.

I have seen a few 1/43 scale trucks I'd quite fancy, especially those IXO partwork ones.

I mean check out this awesome Pegaso 'Chinese Six' fire service type vehicle.
