As usual late to the party but if the Superfast Corniche is still there , could you pick it up please . It’ll be perfect to create a replica of one of my favourite old heaps I get to drive- there’s even a colour match aerosol in the boot.

Reasonable detailing, all the same - even the 'White' badge below the windscreen has been picked out in silver.

Never any problem with over heating. Horrible scuttle shake though which spoiled the experience. I preferred the Shadow he had before it.

I have a 1/43rd Polistil Corniche on my desk as a reminder.

My Dad just had coal.

Did have one of those Polistils, it was one glance away from bits falling off.  This line-up happened during sunny lockdown

Lined them up with others collected. These photos are from this thread, but seemed to have been subjected to extra compression since

That’s lovely, I think the later cars benefitted from the Series 2 upgrades to suspension , the brown one also has a Harvey Bailey kit on it. Never really noticed any scuttle shake even when pressing on a bit on the Route Napoleon, until I lost the brakes anyway. The best modification by far though is the extended seat runners we had installed by Hillier Hill, there was no way I could drive it a thousand miles without them.

Those early Corniches were a bit quick as they had more power than equivalent Shadows, my Boss in 1983 had a brand new Spirit that could be left for dead by his wife’s 1971 Corniche Coupe. When I took it to Hythe Rd during my Chauffeur School course, the instructors reckoned they were the fastest things RR had ever made. The Camargue had the same setup but weighed more, apparently.

I'm in the doghouse again...

100_0294.thumb.JPG.7b7d138c854f19b096e3063add0af734.JPG

So, let's take a look inside...

100_0295.thumb.JPG.660e3a566070ce16045363c4af3eae53.JPG

Well that doesn't tell me much!

100_0296.thumb.JPG.250c2b4574120143429d9ed618c5f941.JPG

Ah, that's better.  What a nice little haul!

100_0297.thumb.JPG.d7895ef95e62bb5f9c5270788114e488.JPG

I remember someone offering this, and I remember jumping at it, but can I remember who the other party is?  Oh and then there are these...

100_0298.thumb.JPG.8a84c444b3c6ec334deb326f0fc43364.JPG

Two copcars that are most likely going in my Projects box.  Lovely.

100_0299.thumb.JPG.fd2db6677d9795e26d09ad1d14da7dcb.JPG

A Golf?  Did I really ask for a Golf?  I wonder why I did that?

100_0300.thumb.JPG.d78526d80737ff4cda7d63401ecf1bae.JPG

Now these look very much like my territory: no-name Chevy Caprice and partwork Volga, both matt-blacked.  I'll enjoy resurrecting these.

Whoever sent me these, I must owe you some money now!  Please, PM me and we'll sort it out.  I know you're from Essex, there was a return address on the box; but no name!

I got one the other day too but I know where that one came from: ebay.

100_0301.thumb.JPG.ba413f01b933c37908ef0ca94ce5b125.JPG

I only really bought this to sell on, it'll be going in the boot of the XJ.  My stock is a bit depleted at the moment!  But if anyone here fancies it... fiver plus post.

Dread to think what those True Scales cost

Did have a '1:22' Camargue by Bburago.  It is nearer 1:18.

20201020_001733895_iOS.jpg

Well in fact had three of the blighters due to an eBay bidding accident

Admired the dashboard effort

20200702_204745547_iOS.jpg

Took one to bits and counted 58 Pieces !

Too big for the shelves, so had to go in the end

So, after hopping off my trusty unicycle, the market was typically rather busy - so it was a bit of a battle to push through the bovine tourist hoardes to get to Tat Central.

299163435_IMG_20230804_1328492.thumb.jpg.7aaa593910ee2b3919099437c5fa993a.jpg

Every day I'm battlin', yo.

10988202_IMG_20230804_1328532.thumb.jpg.4806d9db3c3e5b6dcbaa794bd448116a.jpg

And the stall was busy. Plenty busy.

513415837_IMG_20230804_1330062.thumb.jpg.6cc1fa45947e10b76c8999be609aa22f.jpg

In a way, this stall's something of a crystal ball - I can see my future reflected in it, kinda.

200617533_IMG_20230804_1330162.thumb.jpg.12b24d9da5de1121b7802518feacf373.jpg

So many oul lads, and so much tat - old fire axes, wartime magazines, blow lamps, bullet cartridges, lapel badges, teapots, police insignia, pub ashtrays... everyone's got their thing, it seems.

And it appears this corner's mine.

Well, mine and The Nemesis'.

Good news for @NorfolkNWeigh - the Roller floppytop was still kicking around the table.

704914729_IMG_20230804_1341462.thumb.jpg.dfe818bb8f339d2695898343a71a05e1.jpg

So I'll pop that in with your others!

Unfortunately the City Models Estafette and LD150 seemed to have been snaffled in the interim.

Next I headed round to the Irish Gifts stall - but, tragically and unexpectedly, the beige Maestro requested by @andrew e had VANISHED.

Well, bugger.

Apparently some oul fella had bought it along with another military vehicle not long after I was in this morning.

However, Colin does have another Maestro in beige at home, so he's told me that he'll set that one aside for me and bring it along next Friday.

Fingers crossed!

So, having managed all I could manage, I threaded my way around the now packing-away stalls just in case anything else had arrived, or been missed, from earlier on.

The Winross White box truck was still there, hidden amidst a load of - well, junk, really.

1767094597_IMG_20230804_1322312.thumb.jpg.10706d433db02430da7caa16a3f93a41.jpg

It's actually not in bad nick - and appears to be hand-painted.

117664971_IMG_20230804_1355532.thumb.jpg.50ee75825f0379b8735c2b1f602a774d.jpg

It wasn't the only diecast lumped in:

29454869_IMG_20230804_1322142.thumb.jpg.a44970f73a9868f2bc8370482070f4ff.jpg

But then I realised some of these were priced.

911581366_IMG_20230804_1322222.thumb.jpg.887ebbfb0c2de1854ec2ceff7494d231.jpg

Ah. Aha.

Ahahahahaha.

Crikey. These are honestly the sorts of things a charity shop would throw out.

1988515472_IMG_20230804_1322502.thumb.jpg.78d70d68356ab3f8bc49199f55d14255.jpg

Even a car-booter would think twice about this sort of tat, surely?

202531214_IMG_20230804_1322562.thumb.jpg.c514e3426069810d506957e9e4fc93be.jpg

Yeah, how about 'no'.

I did ask the stallholder, though - and was mildly surprised that, apparently, £10 would take the Winross

So, now we know.

Meanwhile, a morning of dashing around without even a scone to sustain me was taking its toll by 1.30pm. It would need to be the big guns, now...

Luckily, Sandra was still on standby even if the rest of the market was winding down.

1076961618_IMG_20230804_1337362.thumb.jpg.1682e8f851aa368521035bceaaa9e098.jpg

Locally to us Morrison’s now don’t stock Matchbox and Tesco have ceased offering them as well. As predicted they’ve managed in typical U.K. fashion to make an even bigger mess than we started with.

I did also stop off at Alan's Emporium on my way out, and I did happen to nab a few modernz from his 50p Tray, to add to my Box Of Stuff That Might Amuse A Four-Year-Old.

Some Matchbox:

1906703474_IMG_20230804_1528252.thumb.jpg.9440beca86d5ff3343ce1a4c433b0bad.jpg

Some fairly well-worn Hot Wheels:

And some slightly less worn Hot Wheels:

I'll give these a bit of a scrub, and maybe a tickle with the Molotow paint pen where appropriate.

Gotta catch 'em young, hey?

Or else, who'll buy tat in the future, when all us oul lads are gone?

Embracing Social Change in the Workplace. – Scott McLennan

So there we have it. Another week.

Some quite nice pieces, I hope you'll agree, ready for re-homing in the not too distant future.

And so - everyone in for the traditional 5pm ensemble photo.

Say CHEESE!
