Girlfriend is at work in it but I’m pretty sure our smart forfour has no arrow, the hose on the right and the flap on the left

I enjoy some of the features in my 1997 Elgrand, like the remote control that operates most interior features inc the sunroof, auto lights and switchable four wheel drive. However these can all be switched off or ignored at will. Modern features that try and take over the driving for you I find are generally somewhere between off putting and dangerous. Being able to park and remain in the correct lane are things that should be within the capability and control of the driver, but maybe I’m a Luddite

One of the few standout examples where the facelift was a marked improvement over the original IMO. That facelift was a long time ago in this case though, but I have faith

Today I attended Dewsbury Bus Museum's day at Batley Mill Village. I don't know very much about buses so won't be able to give much detail to the pics, but the fact that these enthusiasts are able and willing to drive people around in their preserved, restored or well worn vehicles for free is something I find heartwarming and fasciniting in equal measures.

I struggle to be to be remotely interested in anything with a Diesel engine you have to fuel with pump diesel

It could’ve been recycled twice by now. I hope not though, 305s are great

They’re not at all as dynamically interesting as an equivalent age French thing but fairly endearing for the enduring solidity.
1.2 engine is in two different power outputs. I have a customer with a VW Fox, one with a Polo and one with a Fabia, all with these engines. They seem surprisingly torquey (heavy flywheel?) yet thrive on revs.
That’s interesting, in my experience they are gutless and reluctant to rev, but that was the 12 valve one

I once watched as a man pulled up in a 750i, opened the door and empty all the piss out of his catheter bag onto the floor at Tibshelf. Fantastic

I’ve got nowt against ride height adjustment, my daily is wound down pretty low. However, I’ve fitted wheels and tyres that never contact the body, even with 200l of veg oil in the back. I’ve always thought that air ride was a way to have wide wheels, good fitment, stance and all that shit, while retaining drivability on the road. So why the fuck has the 2 tone W124 been driven with the tyres and wheels rubbing on the body, when they had the option to avoid it when in motion? I know there’s a catalogue of errors here but I can’t get my head around that

Best window winders ever. There’s something delightfully classy about a non-sporty, worn-in 900

I’m so glad you’re making a good car out of this where I failed to have a working car for most of the time I had it. Broken spring and dead battery maybe a sign the curse is still going, Hope that’s the last of it.
Re the handling, I think magazine journos call it safe understeer, not sure I agree

This is all rather exciting

No thanks, they match the shirt too well anyway

How many people with cars that have been faultlessly reliable darent tempt fate and say so on this thread?

I think the only car I’ve been lent was my housemate at the time’s Corsa B Merit when my E30 was in for MOT. I entered a roundabout at a speed roughly equal to what was comfortable for the lowered bm and it just sailed straight on. He called it Howard if I remember right.

My dad had one just like that, but it was a CS with every option. First owner must’ve been adamant they didn’t want a fancy turbocharger
