Dick Longbridge
Like this: ScreenHunter_74 Dec. 30 12.05.jpg Crikey, I'm impressed with myself there! The stripes really suit the wheels too.Good call on the low-down stripage. Not dissimilar to the 18 turbo graphics, which look tres bon. Seeing this one in white is bringing back memories of an early 18 turbo in white which was one of the many cheapies my boss of yesteryear had on his forecourt in the early 90's. It was the only car which needed a wash on the day when I needed to pick up some parts from the local motor factors for him, so he reluctantly instructed me to take the 18. A seventeen year old driving a turbocharged Renault for the first time is an experience which will never be forgotten.Good work keeping this 18 going - white definitely suits it. DodgyBastard
I think this is going to look amazing on these Reliant SS1 Alloys. They need painted but which colour should they go? Silver maybe... Jim Bell
DodgyBastard
Tyres now on, think we destroyed about 4 tyres in the process with poor tyre machine technique. It's really easy to Fuck the beads when using a semi automatic machine. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk Jim Bell
vulgalour
If you want quick and easy, paint em silver. Spend a bit more time with the masking tape and give them white rims and centres with the rest in black to match the scheme of the rest of the car. You could also get away with antique gold because of the glass and interior colour. That is, if you can tolerate a bit of gauche 80s panache. nisfan
TV star!!!!!! This was at the how many left car show ages ago and finally appeared on TV. Going through some old photos i found some of the 18 when me and derskine attacked it with screwdrivers, The wheels are going silver, had the paint to hand, may paint some bits black, see how it goes. nisfan
I tried that in the small bit on the back arch, it didn't really work and it took paint off when I peeled them off! Next time I'm using proper paint, this stuff isn't that durable

garbaldy
I've heard good things about that paint so strange your having trouble with it, maybe it's just the cold damp conditions after all.

nisfan
Its a sad day today as ill be driving the stanza for the last time, i never thought when i bought the car i would have liked it so much. Its proved very reliable and ive enjoyed driving it but times change and its time to move on, ill still see it as im swapping it for FOADS sigma.Goodbye old friend youll be missed, These are the ebay photos just before i bought it. Ive been preparing the 18 to take over daily duties and one thing was the central locking had stopped working. I had plugged in the wrong connector for it when trying to find the brake lights fault. Once plugged in both front doors wouldnt lock so i took off the door cards, Sprayed penetrating oil over the mechanisms and the solenoids work perfectly! Got the interior light working for the first time since i bought the car many years and many owner changes ago, it lights up the (in my mind) best headlining ever!! Just hope it copes ok with the scoatish winterzz Skizzer, vulgalour, Lacquer Peel and 3 others
AlabamaShrimp
I've missed loads of this thread and most of the pics aren't working. Why is the Stanza going, is it dead?
nisfan
Ive no idea why the earlier photos have disappeared?? I use faceache as a photo host, think its time to use flickr. The stanzas still going, i was going to sell it in a couple of months but FOAD offered me the sigma for it, a 3.0 v6 manual estate is something i couldnt resist
nisfan
Since me and FOAD spoke about the sigma/stanza swap ive been having goes in the sigma, there has been hesitation between 2-3.5k rpm, we thought this was down to fuel so i put £20 in it as it was really rough, its better but still not 100%, then the check engine light come on WTF!!!!, I disconnected the battery and it cleared and never came back.Next step is plugs and leads, this aside the thing bloody shifts! Once the hesitation, wheel bearing and exhaust are done it should be a quite usable if thirsty barge.
vulgalour
The Renault headlining is something really rather special, as is the fact the car has survived against such great odds. nisfan
nisfan
I drove it for the first time in months yesterday, runs spot on, its strange as its just a shonky 18 but i feel its full of character and just bimbles along nicely. It really has survived against all odds, i just hope it keeps soldiering on when the time comes to try and sell it. nisfan
So this happened at 5.40am on a saturday heading to work, I was traveling along the motorway when i heard something hitting/bouncing on the underside of the car.Right after this the battery light came on and the temp gauge started rising, balls.Managed to nurse it to a side road and found a bolt holding the alternator had fell out, i was stranded so had to call the AA.Man came out, he struggled to find anything to fit, he had a bolt but no nut so used an old file i found in the boot to jam into the radiator to hold in the bolt., it worked! Made it home to swap over to the bluebird.Ill be fitting a bolt with a nyloc this time. Went upto the awesome scrapyard near aberdeen with derskine and FOAD. Traveled in style in derskines 205stdt, its a brilliant little car.Just went for a nosy but found this renault 17 steering wheel, should hopefully clean up nicely and fit the 18 Heres a few photos from the place, theres only a few as FOAD has the proper camera not a crappy phone camera, Supernaut, Lacquer Peel, Sudsprint and 5 others
