OMG!!!

I'm looking forward to hearing how your journey home went.

Fingers crossed you won't have to rebuilt the brake master cylinder on the side of the road.

This is one of these adventures I could never be arsed doing myself but very much enjoy reading about .

I presume you’re stopping on route home to pick up a 70s teak sideboard ?

I'm worried about that yellow mess they probably want you to believe is scrambled egg, and the effects it will have on your day, along with the beanz

At least you're still moving forward. Will keep my eyes peeled round M1/M6 near Brum in an hour or two if you go that way. Heading back from a collection myself!

Love this. Perfect way to get to know a new purchase. The best of luck though I have the utmost faith in your venture.

That is a very long list. It sounds like it’s in a scrapyard, and they undertake to a) drag in out of the pile, b) provide a battery that will start it, and c) fit it with tyres good enough to pass a reasonably lenient Mot!

I once did this with a mk1 Cavalier Coupe from Clwyd Breakers ( Danny's) and got it looking respectable enough to drive it home near Oswestry....

Best of luck, we're all counting on you 😎

You haven't got a slack front wheel bearing allowing the brake disc to move about and push the pads/caliper pistons back so you have to pump them out again every now and again ?

Splendid. Loving the write up. Please don’t break down anywhere near me.

(Genuinely, am happy to help if you’re my way)

Safe travels

Is this really the time and place to discuss kinks? I know that Volvo is perversely sexy and danger of this level is often an aphrodisiac, but damn...

I love this car - saw it for sale and was gutted I didn’t have the cash for it!

Excellent collection, the sort most of us dream of but few are actually brave enough to do!

Where is the dizzy vac advance fed from, and is it original? Have had great fun* in the past with getting good steady vacuum with twin carb conversions.

Never mind that, where is he? How is he? Is he ploughing along, right foot buried in the carpet, left foot frantically pumping the brake pedal? We haven’t heard for hours.

I did it with an FSO Polonez in 1994 - the one at the back of my avatar pic!  C246 MFV was only eight years old too.

@captain_70s You're likely to meet a lot of northbound closure on the M6.  Seems it's been a busy day of incidents going at least as far as Tebay.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

One of these cars averaged 8mpg. Not the fast one.

I think the woman driving the Aston looking on is thinking you are taking a picture of her car specifically 😂

If the Volvo is only doing 8mpg, does it have a leaking fuel system?
