Autoshite dreams?

Last night, I dreamt about helping a woman out of her overturned (aircooled motorcycle)Triumph-engined 3-wheel microcar whose name escapes me, having been involved in a minor collision with a K10 Micra. The Micra's owners were indignant that I was helping "her that caused it" - except the woman in the microcar had been avoiding the spinning mk3 Capri.

It's all going on inside my head today...

I just had a dream where I was driving a red XJS down the back streets of Nowra (town near where I live) and I pulled over near a park (that exists) and went to a pub (that does not exist) across the road. When I returned to the XJS I discover that some pleb has nicked the interior!

I dreamt that I bought a ropey Rover 620Ti.

It had tons of lacquer peel and a well grotty interior.

I had the feeling that it was going to be very rapid but sadly I never got to drive it.

In my dreams last night I killed a 13 year old Yorkshire terrier by handbrake turning a Citroën Xantia over it outside a Tears For Fears concert in my local park.

Last night was the Dolomite fixation I have recently...... Weirdly crimson red version which simply would not stay in a straight line. Steering was all over hte place and I ended up hitting one of those 70's style pile of boxes that flipped it over and slid on the roof for what seemed like an eternity. Paramedic was gorgeous though - so made up for it.

Can't remember if I put this down before or not, but the truck shite thread reminded me.

In the dream, I turned up to work at a place I used to work outside Edinburgh. The yard and buildings were exactly right, but the lads, motors and other kit were Lego.

My familiar grey Scanny was in someone else's care, so I was given a blue Renault Magnum. Of course, I didn't know where the dipstick was, so I asked. Necessarily, there wasn't one. It was made of Lego. There wasn't an actual engine.

When I asked how all this worked, the other drivers looked to the sky, and there was a gigantic child's arm. Once we were ready to roll, the hand would descend, and pull us along the road. Which looked a lot like carpet.

Weird or just too many drugs? Either way, pretty cool dream lol.

No cars involved, but perhaps a reference to my permanently parlous finances: last night I dreamt that I couldn't stop finding wads of cash as I was walking along the street.  Tenners, twenties fifties, a couple of hundred quid at a time, every few yards.  So now I'm awake I've just been for a walk with my dog and reality completely failed to match my dream.  Oh well.

A few nights ago I dreamt that my first car (instead of my Citroen C1) was a yellow Metro my family owned in the 80s. It was incredibly tight inside and when I was in it there was tonnes of old cars around me (I remember seeing a green GS in envy)

I was rebuilding a carb a few nights ago, which is odd, as I've never done that in real life!

Had a particularly vivid one last night, probably fuelled by Doom Bar, Speckled Hen, toffee vodka and chili chicken wings....My grandfather's MkVIII Minx turned up on Ebay and I, naturally, had the winning bid.   When I went to pick it up I remember showing the vendor a chip on the dash where I fell against the ignition key and bent it over onto the surrounding framework.  I have no recollection in reality of that incident but am reliably informed by Mum that it did happen.

What was so vivid was the actual Ebay process, the bidding, the waiting, the tickling up of my offer, the screen telling me I had won and the conversation on EBay messaging with the seller.   Of course the whole thing was a catalogue of fantasy, the poor old Minx was scrapped in the Sixties so could not have survived but even less likely in real life was the completely hitch-free Ebay transaction.   I was half-expecting to find out the car was rung on Grandad's old logbook, however.

I suppose this is what comes of going to a club where there was no Newcastle Brown.

As my sleep pattern is totally FUBAR I had a couple of shitetastic dreams last night.

The first involved me going to work as usual but my taxi had been swapped for a 1989, F plate Sierra 2.0 injection GLSi hatch in light blue. I even remember the sports version of the two spoke steering wheel. Fuck knows why this car was in my dreams because I've never owned a Sierra GLSi in my life.

The second involved me driving a 1979 Cortina 2.0 Ghia to Devon and forgetting where I've parked it. When I finally find the car I discovered that it had been broken in to and ransacked. I tell the police about it and they suggest that I leave it somewhere dodgy for them to stake it out and ask me if I have anything valuable to leave on show. I open the boot, which I explain to plod that the thieves couldn't get into as the lock wasn't worn, and take out a brown leather flying jacket that I then put on the back seat.

Hearse racing.  One was silver and so utterly bland it literally defies description.  The other one was black and kept changing model and shape, at one point being nearly a DS420, another some double-decked thing with a top half like a VW Samba bus.  I was both watching the race and driving the black hearse while the circuit was both a figure 8 banger racing track and a narrow, hilly, cluttered Italian town, not simultaneously, it was just one or the other when I looked.

I have no been sleeping well this last week so  what dreams I do have are rather disjointed when I remember them.  This has been the only shiteworthy one.

Dreamt I put a 1.7litre Puma engine from a rusty Puma into a Fiesta Zetec S with a blown engine.

Best bit was selling the bits off the Puma and weighing in the shell and making so much profit the entire enterprise worked out as free.

I really have to stop eating cheese and binge watching Wheeler Dealers in the evenings. I'll be negotiating a discount and "'oldin'' aht me 'and" next time I buy petrol at this rate

T'other night I dreamt that while browsing junk in my local second hand/antique/junk shop I found a folder that contained all of the Doloshite's service history and original bill of sale etc.

I was very excited.

Your dreams defy Citroen mechanical design.

I used to have a recurring dream when I was a fair bit younger that I was driving my Father's (later my own) Mk2 Cavalier, but it was impossible to slow it down, so the entire journey was spent with both feet pressing the brake pedal as hard as I could.  In spite of this, it still travelled at breakneck speeds and I had to deftly weave it through traffic, a bit like you see russian dashcam twats doing these days.  Never did get to a destination before waking up.

Not had any zombie and car fixing dreams for a while. I feel cheated.

I had a dream last night where I was fixing 6, that's 6 discovery sun roofs or rooves (in old English). They were in the same car too! I was with someone doing this task but I didn't know them, kind of in a garage somewhere. Can't remember anything else at all! I'm crap at having dreams and I hardly ever recall them if I do.

I certainly remember one from when I was about 17 and I was driving a car full of pals all dicking about like a bunch of jokers and I hit a lorry up the arse at full chat on the motorway... I actually jumped out of my own skin sweating my nut off!

I also had a dream where I ate a giant marshmallow... and when I woke up, my pillow was gone!

The "car that won't stop" dream seems fairly common.  I used to have a recurring one where it happened to me in a red saloon, usually a BMW 3 series, it was so bad at one point I vowed never to have a red saloon car.  It's been a while since I had the dream and these days I tempt fate by owning a red saloon car.

I have the same dream, usually featuring one of my cars and having me pressing the pedal to have either no effect or not enough of one to actually stop despite the pedal feeling fine.

Sometimes it turns into a flying dream for me, which is pretty neat, but usually it turns into a falling off a cliff dream and I wake up just as the car is about to hit the ground.

Flying dreams are pretty bloody ace. Of course,I suppose it depends how you got airborne really.

Among other randomness last night's dream involved driving a BMW 790i - that's a 7-series with a 9-litre turbo truck engine  It was fun at first but then started to annoy me. I just wanted to get where I was going and wasn't in the mood for any fuss but it kept wheelspinning and tailsliding all the time no matter how I drove.

When I was 19 I had a nightmare that I crashed a red Honda Integra EXi on this bend...

post-3910-0-10466400-1520717425_thumb.png

I was not as distraught about the car as you might think because I was hoping to spend the insurance money on a Celica.

The sad thing is that ever since then I've always refused to drive that stretch of road at more than the 40mph limit, even today I mashed the cruise control while driving down there.

I rarely remember dreams, but as the wife got home last night barely able to stand she woke up numerous times during the night to vomit, thereby disturbing my sleep.

I dreamt about owning a white series 1 XJ6, and someone broke my rear window. It was perhaps the only series 1 XJ6 with a reverse rake rear window.

Rather a disjointed one, seemed to start in a Nuclear Fallout Family Park (I don't know either) and everything was bright yellow and bright pink.  We were pulling a little Trojan-esque van out of the lake and when we'd managed that all the colours returned to normal.  Then we drove it very fast (except it was very slow) through the middle of Manchester-London and I was getting quite irate that I wasn't allowed to keep it.  Apparently, me arguing that the hubcaps were very round wasn't a strong enough reason for me to be allowed to keep it.

Later, we went for tea and pumped up a Maxi's hydragas so much it started to float away.  Then I woke up.

I so rarely recall any dreams I have, for this to be so detailed as I woke up this morning was strange.

I was driving in my blue Bluebird (long-since departed, F941FYD) into Leeds (never been to Leeds- in retrospect even though the sign said Leeds it looked more like Bedminster in Bristol which makes much more sense), and as I drove into the town it rapidly turned into this large industrial business-park type place, lots of concrete, overpasses and such. My aim was to go to the car parts place because I needed to buy some fuses (thanks, Jo, that one's your fault lol). I drove down the street and on the right there was this massive Halfords type place which had a tiny car park that was full. Next door there was a large Carpet-Right warehouse which had the usual banners stuck up outside, but instead of the "CLEARANCE CLEARANCE" they had "STORE CLOSED DUE TO STAFF RIOT".

Out front there's a Red Robbo type character with a megaphone shouting out to a crowd of assembled people about we want more pay we want it now etc etc. The parking area in front of the Carpet Right is only really busy near the front where the crowd is so I decide to park my car there. I get out and walk across the street to the Halfords place and look around. There's shelves upon shelves of stuff, everything I do not need. Most of the shelves have brand new stuff on them but it's broken- a full display of trolley jacks but they were all mangled up looking like origami shapes. I walk around for a while before going to the WE HELP YOU desk (that's what the sign said, in Halfords orange and black) but the 4 people there looked so very bored and aggressive that I decided not to go near them. Eventually I found what I was looking for and left the store. I walked back up the street (the Halfords had moved while I was inside) and past the Carpet Right but the road dipped down under an overpass/rail bridge and there was no way up to the parking lot, a high brick wall up to the level of the parking lot and a big metal fence blocking access.

I continued walking and went too far and ended up in a factory that made milk (seemingly no cows were involved). Lots of stainless steel and tubes and stuff. I turned around, realizing I had gone the wrong way and ended up in the parking lot of the Carpet Right where the protest was still going on. The parking lot had turned into a grass field at that time. I checked my pockets but did not have my keys, and then remembered that when I locked the car I had dropped the key and figured it was OK because I would come back and get it later.

The key was in the petrol cap flap, which was open, the doors were open, the door cards were all off, the stereo and speakers were gone. A couple arrived at their car next to mine and looked symathetic and then the woman muttered something about "foreigners will get that if they come to our town" and they drove away. I tried to start the car but all the petrol was gone.

I'm never going to Leeds after that, it was quite traumatic. Even though it wasn't actually Leeds...
