But what of the popular people’s front of Wolverhampton! Actually I spent a good hour reading the reviews on trip advisor on the Trumpet. How is it still going!?

Was a great Jazz pub, last time we were there

Oi @richardmorris, enough of the spoilers! 😋

Trying to drum up business! I didn’t say how the s3x robots fitted in!

It’s actually a fun and touching story so far. I feel more sympathy with Derek than Roy in the last book- trying to make lives better for others. I’m only half way through though.

Its quite sad in this day and age people still getting clicks/views on the whole 'It was SO bad!!!' thing about cars that werent 'that' bad and they also arent old enough to actually remember and just parrot the same old lines

He's pretty complimentary and/or realistic in the video, in my opinion,  "It's a car that's hard to dislike"... but the 'orrible nature of YT algorithms mean that clickybaity titles seem to be necessary, sadly.

He's a good egg, JayEmm, and a BL fan, I almost joined that shoot but had to drive to Milton Keynes to get the sack from my day job instead :(

I think that car is very pretty, black and those wheels really suit it.

I probably said this before, but being a non-Brit, I always wondered why everyone seems so hellbent on slagging off BL/Rover, as they always had a bit of premium image in my part of the world. Every single one I ever rode in seemed at least nice enough. Maybe not class-leading, but certainly not terrible,

There's a fascinating mix of reasons but one I think that is seldom mentioned is that Brits generally have a self-destruct button when it comes to success. It's the opposite of America where money and fame and success are celebrated, here (I'm a Brit, as you may know) if anyone "gets an idea above their station" there is a queue of people to take the piss, or worse. On the topic of BL/Rover, I honestly don't think their products were always so far behind the competition and, in many cases, were much better than many people might realise. There's also that Clarkson-led mentality where if TG say something is crap, then it must be crap, and that really annoys me. Happily nowadays (and certainly here on Autoshite), people are starting to appreciate BL cars as something of an underdog's choice, enjoying the self-deprecation of driving an Allegro, or Marina, or similar, and wondering why so many mainstream cars these days are so utterly dull.

I'm on stage at 1230 at Rustival. They've let me park my Elise inside as well, which seems a bit jazzy for such an event, but as it's a  K series car it'll almost certainly explode or something.

I am going to do a fun "true or false" thing with JayEmm, with 20 or so interesting facts loosely based on the strikes mentioned in the book, and a bit of Q&A if the audience are up for it. If you're coming please don't be shy in saying hello, I'm the chap in a BL T-shirt with a flat cap and moustache that, according to my daughter, makes me look like a sex offender. Thanks, kiddo.

There'll be a big QR code on stage which folks can scan to order the book, plus I'll have a small stock of books which I can sell (cash preferred but I should have a card reader on my phone) and sign if anyone fancies it. There should be someone handing out flyers as well with book info. This is a self-published book, I have to work hard to find new readers, I hope I'll find a few on the day. Here's my mood board...

See you tomorrow?

So asking if you are sex offender with a moustache like that is a valid question for the Q&A? Just checking ready for tomorrow..... 😅

Brilliant - see you tomorrow!

If you turn out to be a person and not a giant French HGV I am going to be disappointed.

Just finished the book… a great read, very much enjoyed it.

Got to admit the section at the end with the alien invasion stealing all the plans for the replacement for the Austin Princess and one of Robinson’s ties, and as a result the 17 men going on strike from the Cowley factory because the aliens had landed at Longbridge not at Cowley wasn’t something I expected.

In all seriousness it was an enlightening book and there were some entertaining asides which kept me smiling throughout!

Fantastic to meet @N Dentressangle @brownnova @dollywobbler @robt100 @wesacosa @chaseracer @Marina door handles @Floatylight @Sunny Jim and his dog and many other ‘shiters. I took my entire stock of books and sold almost every one (!) - thanks to those who tolerated my crap tech skills when paying by card. Such great vibes at Rustival. I hope you enjoyed the talk and love the book.

Good to see you too @motorpunk, sorry you didn't get to see Ron, Should've dragged you over there early 😅 You're more than welcome to pop by the house if you're ever passing though👍

I got one shot of your interview (and very well it came across too).. Though it looks like James is dubiously asking if your moustache is actually real, he doesn't seem convinced 😄
