Compared to some of the rigs AS has seen in the past that looks positively professional.

What I'm more amazed about that photo is not the photo. It's the fact that it's hosted on a Photobucket account that someone has actually paying them for to not have the watermarking.

Much sadness.  It deserves the AS equivalent of a state funeral, or an erection somewhere.  RIP PW.

I mean it is nice but not sure i could maintain an erection over it !

Man, I still see myself owning one of these in the future. With all of them basically being run into the ground thats becoming less and less likely though. I'll kick myself for not asking to save as many spares as possible from this one.

Growing up in a fairly rough area in the late '90s and early '00s, I remember these being absolutely everywhere. I feel like they were a far more common sight than the UK-spec Previa at the time, though they probably weren't.

They were the school run mum's car of choice before SUVs/crossovers became a thing, along with Shoguns, Troopers, Disco 1s, etc.

Sad times man. I met the pleasure wagon when delivering the Mazda 3 to you a couple of days before going to Brussels.

Sadly this was the best tow vehicle we had at Castle_Cleland, it left only Pop's SX4 with a tow bar (no electrics - bike rack only!) And Will is away in his Rexton 290, so I couldn't get it back home up in The Dales. Much steep, much twisty. If our John Deere was here I might have rescued the PW in that, but that's away having work too. I'd have liked to have it in the field as a greenhouse / potting shed, ideal really, but my mother, who lives next door wouldn't approve.

20240314_110923.thumb.jpg.4a75de71ed109989a028a4474e3fa65c.jpg

It carked only 10 mins up the easy A-road from the scrappers, so it made sense to take it South, not North. The SX4 is no more than a jacked up Swift really, so the tail really was wagging the dog.

20240314_114702.thumb.jpg.a1e161d9e2a20526f5a82a0421f338b4.jpg

After I got the PW to a safe lay-by, I spent an hour faffing, I saved all the curtains and rails, mats, and a 2-in-1 seat from the middle row which rotates, lays flat, reverses, has seat belts, and four bolts onto any flat floor (ideal to go in the back of any van). Anyone need it, shout up. Also the huge interior light from above the sliding door. And Mrs_KJ's little crocodile. From the outside, tow ball, electrics, and tow bar extension, and the wiper arms with spray system as I mentioned.

20240316_152516.thumb.jpg.e031ce7ded45ea54bc7056b5217eca48.jpg

Once at the yard, I grabbed the wheels (I have three sets, 15s, 16s and 17s, need owt?) and wheel nuts, the good battery, and the badges (saddo).
So some bits of it might live on. Home:

so youll be looking for another estima (if you can find a nice one) ?

I'd consider another 4WD one, preferably with the "Joyful Canopy" high roof, diesel or pez, not bothered, if a non-knackered one exists in UK. There are still some in Japan, but spenny.

The Estima? Great! Dependable (usually) and useful. Feels solid but heavy and a bit thirsty. Not for hooning but good at everything else.
Insurance? £101 fully comp for the year, classic policy with "Sterling". :)

You're top of the list David, if they don't get bodged into the Galaxy.
There's a chance Mrs_KJ and I will take it car camping this year, FOD and/or Shitefest.

I keep tripping over PW memories I thought I should share. In no particular order...

Pretty sure John F is a fallen soldier of Modgate, when it was decided nobody could be trusted to think for themselves any longer. There was also a heady cocktail of covid mixed in too. A real shame.

I remember you letting my son drive it round the field at Chumley with the BX on a trailer hitched up behind.

Driving it myself at Shitefest Cymru with you encouraging me to give it the beans up the hill climb.

You traipsing all the way down to Ludlow in it to fetch that Austin 1100.

Passing the buck to you when AP broke the Skoda at SF last year.

Rest in pieces wonderful car, hope the eventual replacement is equally epic.

You’d be surprised to know I don’t actually pay a penny, yet it still seems to allow non water marked hosting 😂

A Framing that Cortina is an experience I’d rather not repeat. I’ve done some sketchy shit in my time but my arse nipped all the way back up to the North East 😆

Sad day this Joe, I remember you buying it. The recovery mission with the R8 I still remember vividly !

I remember the bathtub and many gallons of veg on that trailer too!

That's the year I punctured one of those 10l plastic bottles in the back of the zx coming home and had to write off a wet vac I had to clean it out! (was far beyond towels, I noticed when my feet slipped off the pedals as it had crept that far forward) Car then perma smelt of veg even if it was running derv 😂
