The day this becomes a 'classic' I'll insert a trombone up my council and play Beethoven's symphony no. 9 in W (8) medium outside Lord Lucan's bedroom bastarding window.

That Sierra is a corker. In fact, if I might wilfully waste a few column inches, was there a more opulent family car than the Sierra Ghia in '82/3?

Lets look at what we've got:

Electric front windows (rear optional)

Central locking

Tilt 'n slide sunroof, with blind.

Adjustable front and rear headrestraints.

Some "wood" trim.

Electric mirrors.

Electric aerial.

Illuminated vanity mirror.

MW/LW mono radio /stereo cassette.

Graphic information module with door ajar and temperature warning.

Heated front seats (optional)

Folding rear centre armrest.

Front seat lumbar adjustment.

Directional front swivelling reading lights.

Aerodynamic flush wheelcovers.

Front foglights and long-range driving lights.

Etc!

It's farking amazing! Compare to a Cortina this was like comparing Star Trek:- The Next Generation with Blakes Seven. I miss my Dads'; A794MEW.

Sorry. As you were.

If by "classic" you mean "destined for scene tax and adorned with chopped springs, stretched tyres and roof racks" then you'd be wrong

As an aside, isn't it amazing that a 30-year-old range-topper-but one (thus discounting the sporty XR4i) wasn't equipped with alloy wheels as standard? The mind boggles!

They came to their senses in late '83. I find it amazing that the Sierra 2.0 handled reasonably well on 165/70/13 hoops!
