As if a snapped clutch cable and a journey home on the big yellow taxi wasn't bad enough, my online Wickes order from the weekend has been charged three times putting me overdrawn. FFS

Bang on and on about how humiliating this is, you never go overdrawn etc blah blah - you might get all 3 refunded

Bloody fucking Evri. Why is possible to be so shit or wilfully incompetent at something? I ordered some new plants from ebay, then saw who was expected to deliver them. Sure enough I got the delivery attempted message a few days later (translation, we've nicked or binned your parcel so we don't have to deliver it).

The stupid thing is that I'd be quite happy to pay extra to actually receive things I order but I can't find out who the deliverer is going to be (unless I go via Amazon) until I've ordered.

My current local Evri delivery woman is brilliant.  Never had a missed or late delivery since she's been doing it and she always seems to be cheerful.  Drives a shagged-looking 308 estate but it keeps soldiering on.

Our Evri bloke is the same, he delivers stuff to us, well the missus, 2 or 3 times a week. He's got a Fiesta van.

Same here and applies to the last three that have been delivering here for several years.  Never a problem.

Ours had a day off the other week and called to check if the parcel was urgent or if she could go back to bed.  She's brilliant.

Youngish lad at work bought himself a Ford Ranger Wildtrack. 3.2 V6. £15,000. Due to have it delivered Saturday just gone.

Comes in to work today.

No truck.

Paid up in full, up front.

Bank transfer.

On line sale. Never even seen it.

Seller's disappeared into the abyss. Phone number doing nothing, address appears fake. Company listing only a few weeks old.

He's a little fool who really needs to learn to walk before he can run (usual story) but damn, Fifteen grand gone. Not sure if I could live with myself tbh.

Sorry, but who the fuck is idiotic enough to buy a vehicle without even seeing it?!

Er, quite a few on here!

It's the paying in advance by bank transfer that was really their undoing.

Er...  Think I must have done that with my last 5+ cars

Edit: possibly 15.

Returning a hire car to Gatwick South at just before 5am this morning as the car needed to be returned with a full tank… but arriving at the BP right by Gatwick to find it coned off because of a food delivery taking place.  WTF can’t you buy petrol if food is being delivered at the same time!?  It wasn’t obstructing the pumps, the entry or the exit, the lorry driver just leaned out his window commenting “no petrol because I’m here” so now awaiting a fuel bill plus admin and filling fee from Europcar.   Didn’t have time to fanny around driving around Sussex at 4.30am looking for another petrol station.

I think people are just use to hitting the Buy It Now button and having something show up. Especially post-Covid.

Yes. Apparently the seller refused to take a deposit. Should have been a huge red flag.

Anyone else having the same problem, there's a Shell by the North Terminal.

Or a cheaper option about a mile away is the Tesco Extra on the A217, that's 24 hours for fuel.

Evri relies on people who will make sacrifices to earn a "living", my dad used to do it for years. Depending on where you are the service varies. In the suburbs,  people dream of having a local route so they work for ages til they drop on to one, then they daren't have a day off for fear of losing it.

In more urban areas there's a steady stream of people who don't give a shit, and in rural areas the staff turnover is massive because it's impossible to earn any money when you get paid 40p a drop.

By the time you've factored in fuel, vehicle maintenance and insurances, most are working for significantly below minimum wage. The business model relies on naive people who just think they can jump in the car that they already own and do 120 miles of multi drop every day without having to consider anything other than the fuel costs

Our Evri lady is great, knows what to do if we're out. Can't deliver what she hasn't received tho

Comes down to trust and reputation. No way would I buy and pay for a car I hadn't examined from a stranger but I've done it a few times with folk on here, and other shiters have trusted me enough to do the same thing. There are a few people I'll happily take at their word and transfer the money to them before I go and collect the car.
If it turns out to be a horror story you get to trash someone's reputation and call them a shitemongering twatartist for all eternity.

I had a voucher for J&S motorcycles in Northwich that is due to expire so I thought I would make use of it.

Unfortunately the A556 is closed where J&S is located - they appear to be resurfacing the road.

It was carnage. The A54 /A49 were heavy with cars and bemused HGV drivers not sure where to go. Instead of coming home up the A49 into Warrington I headed through Delamere and Frodsham and over the Mersey gateway.

I still have my voucher and I wasted two hours.

Every time I finish a project car, I will always use it over my 2011 XC70 - I suspect the writing may be on the wall but I don't know what I want to replace it with.  I do like the CRV but newer ones are a lot dearer.

Will they go south of the river?

Filling that fell out a few days ago has been repaired.  Efficient service as always from our Dentist up in Leicester, as painless a process as it really can be.  Though the anaesthetic has officially now worn off and I feel like I've been kicked in the head and then fell down a flight of stairs face first.  So yes, I'm feeling distinctly grumpy this afternoon now!

I wonder how the Worshipful Company of Hackey Drivers and the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association will view that. Any idea, @warren t claim ? (Maybe we need a new thread about driverless vehicles)

If it's more than 7 litres it's a £18 admin plus a more expensive rate per litre , if less then no admin fee

Same.

Some government individual said:

The Department for Transport (DfT) said the technology would make UK roads safer and that it could create 38,000 jobs and an industry worth £42bn by 2035.”

Which is excellent, because there are exactly 38,000 lorry/bus/delivery drivers in the UK, so every person whose driving career is utterly shagged by this fucking nonsense can have a job doing that instead…

…Oh no wait, what’s that you say there Google?? Oh, there are actually 300,000 HGV drivers, 120,000 bus & coach drivers and 320,000 delivery drivers?? So that’s 38,000 with a shiny new job doing ‘autonymous vehicle’ stuff and the 700,000 or so are all fucked? Damn.

Fucking autonymous bollox, you can keep it.

*Oh and I didn’t include taxi drivers, who it seems will be the first to get bent over and lubed up by it all :( Yay for progress.

This idiot!

No, that's not fair, idiot he isn't, in fact the problem is that he's far too intelligent!

He's now learned how to either break through or scale an 8 foot fence, break into the conservatory, and then into the dining room, where he eats all the cat food, and then knocks on the door until someone ( usually me) let's him into the main house, at which point he looks REALLY pleased with himself.

I haven't worked out how he's doing it yet, but he managed it four times yesterday.

I'm thinking of entering him for mastermind 🙄
