Bloody Parcel Farce.

Waiting for a shipment to arrive from Germany.  There's a customs charge to pay.  I can see from the tracking that it's been sitting in their depot now for over a week while I wait for the letter telling me that there's a customs fee to pay is physically sent to me.

Last time I had this game I went to the depot, gave them my details and the tracking number.  They were then able to look up the shipment and I could pay it there and then and take my parcel away with me.  The letter arrived about ten days later.  Apparently they're absolutely not allowed to do that now according to the lass I spoke to on Friday.  I have to wait for that bloody letter to arrive which contains the reference number I need specifically for the customs charge.  They weren't willing to give me that number either which would have at least allowed me to pay the charges online and get things on the way to me.  Why does it need to be this awkward?

Ffs that's annoying. The last time I had that happen I got it moving within a few hours with a phone call. The stupid magic code got delivered about a week after I got the parcel and paid my £31 or whatever it was.

Far easier to blag the ebay gsp program if it's between friends

just had the joy of a drive to Preston hospital .....  to drop off other half

good point ..M6 was clear and stayed clear ..

bad points . cameras everywhere , all around the hospital , all around the roads , every car park , pub shop .

permit parking , resident parking , booked parking

why dont they just say F O motorists and shop elsewhere !!!

so I did , and got free parking , toilets and a few items at Barton Grange  garden center ....

then went back to do the pick up and came home via Maghull

most of which is now full of roadworks , signs , lights , umpteen way working , but no fucker leaning on a shovel ..

give that place a swerve for the next few months ..

Picture ... Barton grange area

Had a parcel to drop off there today, different person on the desk.  Asked them if we could do anything about it.  Result?

Nearly £400 of customs fees later, I have my packages.  Also I swear those boxes shrunk by at least 30% once in the boot, I was sure I was going to have to put the seats down when walking up to the car with the trolley full of boxes.

Being a diligent chap, I'm fiercely organised (bordering on anal) about ULEZ etc.  So much so that I use the Auto Pay function and - beyond that - even added a ULEZ compliant car to my account JUST in case something should ever go wrong.  (I'd rather deal with an errant £12.50 fine than get a PCN).

I added my son's car on the off-chance that I'd need to use it and everything's been fine so far.

Last month, I sold my Saab (added to database despite compliancy) and added the A2.

Or so I thought.

It turns out, I hadn't - and TFL have now billed me £270 for the privilege of three days' enjoyment* of driving between W1 and Sterling Corner.

I called the Helpline* who said they couldn't help.

I've now had to file representations to TFL and hopefully they can see that A) I removed vehicles when I said I did, B ) It's not my intention to cheat the system as there's a record of prior 'Good behaviour' on file.

If these aren't overturned I make a solemn pledge to you all that I will only ever take the smoke bilging sierra into London henceforth and kill every bastard one of London with the delicious free emissions.

An extraordinary turn of events.

Three PCNs became four as I took the car to Cockfosters on one morning to catch the tube into town.  What I hoped was a letter discharging the PCNs was actually another one arriving, which cheered me up no end. That took the grand total to £360 if I paid immediately or double if I didn't.

I keyed in the details of the new PCN to the system which then promptly told me that I couldn't pay.  Being a government website nothing is beautifully laid out or simple to navigate, but further digging revealed that this one had been cleared already - even though I hadn't even made representations about it.

Checking the other three, they've all been cancelled.

What I find fascinating about this is

1) They accepted one representation for all PCNs. I didn't have to copy and paste them - just write it out once and attach it to the three initial fines.

2) They used the previous representation for a future ticket. This is unheard of and most welcome.

3) They haven't, as yet, even charged me the £12.50 x 4 for the four trips inside the zone.  So what SHOULD be £50 became £360 and is now £0.  That may change in the coming days but it seems unlikely as these were all struck off about three days ago and I have autopay in place now.

I am actually going to write a letter to TFL to thank them for taking my representations into consideration. I will moan when things are poor but this is, actually, very good.  And not just because I won (!)

You need to do what that village did with the yellow cars a few years back and organise a classic car meet on their road. I’d happily attend. Do inform the local media too.

SEAT seems to be finding the weakest point in its cooling system and shitting itself in turn.

In November the heater matrix went owing to the VAG silica bag of doom, taking the heat exchanger and thermostat housing with it.
Three weeks off work.

Next, the radiator cracked, dumped coolant all over the ground at work, work threatened to sack me as I was making up* problems with the car, told them to fuck off in 8K and resigned on the spot.  Their monthly pay, from five days a week of work, barely covered half of the damage.

£1300 later with a new rad, a hose (or something else) gives out and dumps coolant all over the new job's drive, meaning we got behind and had customers screaming on the phone.
Three lads (including me) were out, and one had to come and rescue me.

Finally got it recovered back to my unit on Sunday and it was collected by the garage today at 7.30 this fucking morning.

To add insult to injury, the front number plate dropped off over the weekend, the plate which the 5-0 whinge about but mysteriously passes every MoT and is easily read by ANPR.
This car is beginning to piss me off. I need it for writing and delivery work.

I realise the parcel drops asked too much from it but it's been throwing strops since November now and my wallet cannot take any more. I can't even afford a new fucking number plate.

Hopefully CCTV round about so it can be passed as criminal damage. That said the Police won’t give a stuff, but if you went round and gave them a pasting they’d be quick to jump on you.

Bastard.

Last time this happened to us (some fruitloop made an offer to buy our vacant house and spend 6 months pissing us about and it turned out that they were unemployed and were expecting to get a mortgage with their JSA) we ended up selling it within a week, for £8k more than previously!

You think that's bad? Small Sainsbury round here even has security  tags on red wine - non alcoholic variety!

A friend of mine works late shifts in a supermarket and she tells me that it's an event if an evening goes by without the police being called or one of the staff being assaulted, or both - she herself recently got sprayed in the face with cleaning fluid.  Large supermarkets in cities often seem to attract the absolute dregs of society.

Years ago a mate lived in Bristol, near South meads(?), his local offy had screens over EVERYTHING, and a bank teller style hatch at the far end of the shop.

You had to tell the server what you wanted, pay for it, and they'd put it in the little slidey compartment 🙄

On other news, youngest had another appointment at addenbrookes hospital today, parked as usual, didn't realise her disabled badge has expired.

So that's cost me £30. Reduced from £60 because I paid it immediately.

My own fault, should have checked, but annoying all the same

Friends of mine went to a wedding near Toxteth thirty five years ago and the whole shop was walled of behind perspex walls. You pointed, they got your order together, you pushed your money through a small slot, and they pushed the goods out through a bigger one.

Pretty much the whole alcoholic drinks section aside from the absolute cheapest of lager etc in our local Morrisons is now locked behind doors on the shelves - you have to ask a member of staff to come and open it to get anything out.
